Article on the Athletic goes into good depth and doesn't fully say he was leys first choice but does pretty much imply he was top or close to top from quite early. They never thought alonso was an option so who knows what they would've thought if he had been

@@jd8184 Obviously Alonso, then Amorim, as far as I can tell. And to be honest, if Alonso wasn't their first choice, serious questions need to be asked! Not that I mind. I think Slot is probably the best fit for the club and the closest thing to Klopp as a person and coach (apart from not being a big name).
Hard to imagine now, but most Liverpool fans werenât that familiar with Klopp before he arrived. Slot appears to be a very qualified coach. Iâm excited.
Actually we were due to him winning back to back titles and getting to a champions league final .
It was his last season at Dortmund where they sold most of his best players then never backed him .
Liverpool fans wanted him in the summer of 2015 .
But had to wait till October ..
Every Liverpool fan I spoke to at the time was excited Klopp was coming in ..

Iâm not a hardcore fan . Klopp made me fall in love with watching it again.
But if I knew who he was I didnât follow his career from when at Mainz but he made us sit up and take notice when he took over at Dortmund .
FSG tried to get him before they got Rodgers but he wouldnât leave mid project at Dortmund .
They then tried again when Rodgers job was under threat in the summer of 2015. He then got the boot but it was kloppâs wife that said this is for you .
She had him turn down Man Utd as she said it wasnât a right fit .
I am really looking forward to the new Slot era, what he can do with our super talented and exciting team, how he can get the best out of everybody and make them grow, the likes of Nunez, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Gakpo, Carvalho, etc. can all benefit from his arrival, play exciting and well organized football, its time for evolution and Im here for it

This was a very good constructive conversation and I think alot of points made were closer to the truth than what was going on in social media
Just as important for me is that slot seems like a good guy with personality and banter, like klopp. We couldn't have gone to a serious manager like arteta for instance
He is but keep in mind he's a bit less energetic as Klopp in terms of being playful. Slot tends to keep it more 'professional' and is just so smart and honest with his words/answers.
Would rather have a winner like Inzaghi who takes things seriously and wins trophies. I want ruthlessness in this team and to get the aura back like in the 80s to work hard, to be the best and to know the players have to win every game.

If we knew Slot was Liverpool's number one from the start, they weren't doing their job properly. FSG are notoriously secretive & would have also had plan A,B & C.

I would place a lot of stock in what people in the know say about who would replace Klopp instead of what the fans want. Feelings are fickle and flip-flop, but facts and figures are verified. Slot seems to have ticked all the boxes and while to many he is an unknown that should neverp revent supporters from supporting anyone chosen to represent our beloved club.

Slot is most probably the best fit for Liverpool that is available. Don't compare him with ten Haag who inherited a very good Ajax side with a significant budget for a Dutch team. Slot on the other hand inherited a very poor AZ team that was pushing relegation. One season brought him equal points at the top of the league with Ajax

Whatâs your point? With Klopp we won the league once and came in second twice. All the other years we were either third, fourth, or below. Weâve been fighting for 3-4 place with Klopp.

slot is a yes man who will have no power in tranfers edwards and hughes will sign all the players.klopp walked away due to knowing when edwards came back he was going to loose his power in who we went for in transfers.
