Jansen is probably one of the top ten violin performers who eve lived. Being alive at a time when we can see and hear her performances live makes us very lucky. Stradivarius may have been the top master of the construction, but she is the only person alive who could have pulled off 12 Stradivari! The world may suck, but it sucks a lot less with Jansen still alive and performing performing.
Not only was it played fantastic but it reminded me of Rachmaninov transcriptions from piano music to violin. Takes quite an extra effort to make them sound like they were written for violin as the first choice. Bravo to them both👏👏👏

THIS IS AMAZING!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN A CLASSICAL MUSIC MV EVER! IF MORE KIDS SEE MVS LIKE THIS I BET THERE WOULD BE SO MANY MORE YOUNGTERS WHO TAKE AN INTEREST IN LEARNING CLASSICAL MUSIC. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY WAY! BRAVO!!!
@@simong.4224 I don't remember and engy means nothing so lol. But I know she didn't like teacher who told her what to do , or stuff like that . And she told in a interview that her teacher for instance asked her to make the same phrases 5 time differently. ( Sorry for my bad english)

Janine plays each and every note so beautifully and expressively, with so much heart and soul. Interesting movie of her running around town and picking up fading Polaroid pictures! I thoroughly enjoyed this video and it is inspiring my practice and future performances of this very same piece for violin. Bravo, Janine! :-)

I once translated this composition to guitar, with using tremelo technique to imitate a little bit the long violin notes. I still have these written papers and did some recordings in order not to forget how to play it.
I have listened to and watched this, this video/recording, so many times over the years. It always brings tears, more tonight than before perhaps. My thank you to Janine and Itamar

She really seems to know which words are said in the poem. The tempo is quite sliw but she feels it plainly, and a great variety of colours ( perhaps too much emphasized by the Decca sound engineers though, or the hall).
My only complaint is that it’s too short. A longer development would take the listener how a long journey and better immerse yourself in the sorrows of this peice
