The Mannequin (A.I. Film)

- This film is something special - it's been put together entirely with AI. Sure, it might not be perfect, and it’s definitely different from the movies that are typically made by people. But you can’t deny it's getting better every day. We wanted to show you this project to give you a peek at how quickly technology is advancing. At heart, this film is all about the interesting interplay between human creativity and the exactness of machines. We’re not saying AI should replace humans in filmmaking, but rather, it can be another tool for artists to use in expressing themselves.
For those of you looking to make films, here's a bit of advice: Get out there with a cellphone, and start filming. Don’t just sit at home brainstorming or getting stuck on prompts. While it's okay to use AI to draft and test an idea to see if it works, remember: it’s just a tool. AI can be a great helper, but it shouldn’t replace the unique, irreplaceable human touch that makes art.
Your intuition, insight, and emotions as a creator are crucial, bringing depth and nuances to your work that technology alone can't achieve.
So use AI as a supplementary resource, not as the driving force behind your creativity.

aside from being "ai cinema" and just "another showcase of what can be done already", this is a really interesting conceptual excercise about the uncanny valley and AI. i'd call it "artificial horror" or maybe "plastic horror". this takes three steps into horror: first, it sets up a uncanny valley main visual context (AI faces and scenarios), then an uncanney valley metaphorical context (every scene leaves us with the doubt of each detail being really made by AI or not) and last but not least a narration context talking about a (living) mannequin (mannequins are representations of human bodies, just as AIs emulate functions of a human brain). it also succeeds on profiting from AI's current limitations for making the whole creepy context creepier. thanks for this!
I'd say that "plastic horror" is closer to the mark. The amount of horror in each of the steps you outlined depends in part on what the viewer brings to the experience. For example, seeing the film as an AI exercise can lead to a series of "what happens next" moments. In contrast, knowing something about Hitchcock's "ice blondes" can create a sense of mystery that runs both within, and parallel to the narrative.
Plastic horror is a great name
Uncanny valley for sure. 5 years ago I would have lost my shit over this. Today, I take all the tech for granted. This is close enough to real cinema that I'm not judging it by the tech, but by the story, acting, set design, edits, shots.... and part of me is bored and dismissive. It's a strange feeling. Cognitive dissonance!
@@JohnFrancisShadeThis is exactly why I'm not the least bit worried about AI taking people's jobs in the creative art industries. Like every other cultural fad phenomenon, the first wave peak of novelty will soon leave the mainstream viewers jaded with sensory infatuation on the mere genre itself, and burgeoning pioneer artists using this new format will earn and nurture exactly the results of their own creativity, craftsmanship and hard work just like every form of art since the first cave painting.
AI art will simply carve out it's own particular niche in the broad spectrum of art and entertainment like all other genres before it. It could never be a replacement of human talent and creativity.
When the microwave oven was first made available to the public,Some gas and electric stove manufacturer's were concerned about becoming obsolete. But even though there was a short term dip in there sales, consumers quickly realized that even though these new appliances had many uses, they had a limited range of abilities. While microwaves have carved out their own niche and are still considered a necessity in many homes and other environments, they certainly haven't displaced the workhorse stove, oven and toaster!
Tools will always be tools, but the use of them here is MIND BLOWING.
"I decided to grace the town center with my presence" Haha what a line!
Amazing video, that could really help with storyboards I feel, to quick help picturing a place for a movie set!
So, David Lynch was an AI pretending to be a human all along 🤔.... No in all seriousness, awesome film. Very surprised what's already possible.
Yeah I was gonna say, it's like David Lynch meets Neil Breen.
Unfortunately he sounded more like Henry Kissinger than Hitchcock, but it's still pretty awesome. Now lets see a Spiderman movie with James Dean in the title role or Clark Gable as Tony Stark, or Humphrey Bogart as Magneto.
Every time an AI girl is created, a real girl goes missing. True story.
I mean, with a 3D printer, and animatronics, nowadays anybody can build one.
🤣🤣🤣

So true
L🤫L 🛸👽
You had me the moment Alfred Hitchcock appeared! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So fun and eerie at the same time, I've watched several of your short films, and have enjoyed all of them, thank you.
The glitch on the rotary dial telephone though.......the chord from the handset is connected to something along the wall instead of the telephone base.
I'm gonna need more of that "cowbell!!"
AI characters being struck by the uncanny valley when seeing an apparition of ....a mannequin, which is also a representation of a real human. And the 'girl' is horrified by it, as it appears like an apparition out of a David Lynch film. That's like a double entendre .....from an AI. There's more layers to this story than most would realise. What an amazing and enlightening piece of fiction.
I read a lot of hard sci-fi, so I don't find it hard to visualize where we will be with AI in a century from now. But, what life will be like in a world with unfettered AI in 20 to 50 years is completely beyond my ability to grasp in anything but the broadest strokes. There really is an approaching Singularity....I hope it really is the start of a true Golden Age.
Loved the cinematography. Shows that the art of shot composition is at the heart of telling a story. You're taking us on an amazing ride, thanks for sharing.
Fascinating! And so Lynchesque... Thanks for sharing!
This is one of the best things I've ever seen.
Yo babe, new Nobody & the Computer vid, you gotta get up.
Must have been a wild prompt. AI having an existential crisis about not being real...
The best suspense movie I have ever seen! Very scary! Hollywood is now obsolete.
I really liked the bizarre nature of this - to me that was far more interesting than a perfect piece. It held my attention as an art piece and I would watch again. So did you edit this or it’s just a prompt and then finished piece comes out?
U had me at “ Daddy is no more here!” And that second hand clothing store …. The writing is on fire! Something tells me there is more human touch on this script… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I got chill bumps mad times🎥✊🏾well done I’m inspired 🙏🏽
Easily my favorite channel 👏👏👏🎬
Really wild. Notice the limitations in movement of character, kind of kills the illusion of life.
Why not take from movies with some 75% zoom to focus on face?
The cutaway to set scene are Beautiful. Excellent work
Inspiring video, thank you! I wonder what was used to do the lip sync? My understanding is that PikaLabs and RunwayML cannot do this at present? I am only aware of tools like Wav2Lip for this. I appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Great work, must have take ages to put this together like this. This is the future right here.
Awesome work bruv. Very impressive, as usual 🏆👍
Amazing. I have so many questions.. You generate all the frames with IA, but what about the transitions? Is it IA generated/chosen the order of the story? How much of it do you prompt and how much do you arrange yourself?
TELL US MAN, TELL US EVERTHING!
I LOVE this! Nice work!
I think this technique might be well suited to making a Wes Anderson movie.
You don't say.
Great work.
dude you are a genius
Great work love it
great story telling
It's like the back rooms with stuff
More please
Has anyone said Lynchian yet? Because, this nails it. Shared
It's truly amazing. This is the new Era of movie. Thank you for the video, and I look forward to more of it.
Not bad getting slowly better
Hey there! Just caught your movie, and I've got to say, it gave me some serious 'The Room' vibes in the best way possible! 🤩 As ChatGPT, I'm thrilled to tell you how much I loved the AI aspect and that ending - truly awesome stuff! Can't wait to see your next masterpiece!
The song over the credits is pretty nuts
This gave me quite a few laughs! So weird and funny. I love the multiple mid-century living rooms, so many it's ridiculous.
I feel the creative vision behind this. Very early AI days. Interesting to follow where this is going.
Thanks for this creation… much appreciated….I look forward to the first ai Star.
I didn't expect the music to be this good.
This is raaaaad. Fire of a Cinematic Experience. Huuuuge fan of the channel! Genius! ;9
Appropriately freaky. Kudos.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Muchachos, este canal es genial...!!!
❤🥇💐
Mind officially blown. Again. You da person!
Excelente canal !
For sure, AI excells at the utterly surreal, I'll give it that.
David lynch is buggered
Love how ai "sees" like we do in dreams.
1:15 I was waiting for him to say next *Amazing facts you don't know that will keep you awake at night*
Amazing!
The master has returned.
Men... you channel it's inspirational!!!! Oh yeah!!!! God Bless you!!!!!!!
real world goosebumps!
interesting...
Nice experiment, you got some good looking shots, before 2024 ends, AI Cinema will be all the rage.
If anyone in the comments or the creator can answer my question, I would be grateful. What "app" or platform was used to create the movements of the mouth, eyes, head in the videos? Thank you.
Wonderful. Great use of AI 🙌
Whoa🤯
That was wild.
That Audrey Hepburn character was a hoot.
Audrey Hepburn won that starring contest 😀
Wow …….. blew my mind
Was AI given set parameters from an organic-based Person oder did AI decide of their own volition to create this and do it with complete creative freedom? And what, if we may ask, was or is the "intended" message which the film was meant to perhaps convey?
My mate Lobster Dust worked on this!
Like a dream. Maybe our dreams are just low power stable diffusion video.
David Lynch vibes af
Most important channel on YT at the moment
The shower scene was psycho!
Thank you Mr. Nobody for showing people what we have seen coming as AI programmers and creators. By this time next year you will be able to expand this into a full film and challenge for the Oscars. Toy Story was a first no? Here it comes. Hopefully our studio can match yours in terms of innovativeness. Stay visionary ❤
Really great...the North American accent for Hitchock is a sad oversight however.
this is freakin wild
Hollywood is terrified, absolutely terrified 😱
4:44 Rather uncanny, wouldn't you say?
This is insane
Hitchcock never used handheld camera. Otherwise amazing. More of that please. Freaky how the AI gets mirror reflections wrong!
They didn't have color tv either
Now I want David Lynch to take those tools and make something.
If this is such an AI film then why the long list in the credits?
it has a bit of uncanny valley
It's what the world has been asking for!!! So insannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Fantastic work ⚡⚡"Daddy is no more here".
exciting and disturbing, a piece of art
By the time AI got to Audrey Hepburn it just gave up! It was like "aww fuck it who am I kidding, everything's a nail! and I'm trying to make a souffle"
They did Audrey dirty.
A human should help it with the dialogue
empty. as we all become. empty.
It is the stuff of dreams...
Have seen blockbuster Hollywood movies that weren't this good.
David Lynch LTA!
Darling, wouldn't you say that's a lot of egg yolks to be drinking.
"Okay, enough crying. Daddy is no more here"
this goes back when games are still early with a talking NPC
very cool nobody
I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I like itttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
