Yeah, but the turbo lag and 2.93 rear is what slows it. I have smoked stock e36 M3's with my 745i and ran against a GTO 6.0l v8 and he couldn't get me either. These cars are absolute beasts on the highway and 3rd gear is a monster after 75mph.
Love your car tjottirotti! I have just bought a 754ia 1984 mod... Relatively low mileage, only 170.000 km/h... It has not been used for a few years, so there is a bit of fixing to do :)
@Skrattmannen91 Interesting, especially since a Lamborghini Diablo SE30 did 0-240km/h in 25 seconds flat. That is SOME 93 540i alright. I doubt it could do it in 32 seconds even.
I can hit 65mph in first at 6400 RPM but I shift at about 5600 because the power does fall off some at around 6000 RPM. These cars are monsters on the highway and love to cruise ove 100 mph. they actually feel more comfortable at 120 than 60 mph. the rear ratio is so tall that overdrive is pretty useless until about 65 mph.

Its soo slow with the autogearbox. Because it has so long gears and it does 100km/h on the first gear so the turbo doesent get any pressure until like 60 or so. i clocked mine to 6.0sec 0-100 with auto. And 5.5sec with wheelspin with manualgearbox... But the autogearbox is very nice when you are crusin...
Maybe slower than a sportscar, but this is a "luxury" car, it weights 1500kg, and it has automatic transmission, he only uses 3 out of four gears in the clip, so actually it isn`t bad. Nice to have an fast "famylycar" you know ;)
hei... Lurer på hvor mye du lader. Har nettop kjøpt meg en e34 med samme motor.. m106. Den lader nå 1 bar og jeg lurer veldig på effekten og hvor mye mere den tåler med orginal pakning og turbo. Toppen er portet og det er større intercooler. Mvh Gerald
not 1984... 1984 onwards the 745i got a 3.5l motronic engine... with an electronically operated ZE-HP4-22 EH4-S gearbox - much higher performance... it could do much better than the above... without fingering the boost (which is kind of fake i.m.o.) - Fingering with what highly skilled BMW engineers have worked with for hours and days...... only results in engine breakdowns.... and even worse. Think again!!! fgs.
How can people call this bad? A 1600 kg car from 1984 with a 3-speed automatic gearbox. This thing was, and still is, a monster!
its 4 speed auto. 3 speed was on pre 1983 cars

I remember those classic 745i's. They had a 3.5turbo right? Always liked those older style BMW's, also the 635csi's as well.
