Harvey Pekar the comic book writer always rubbed David Letterman the wrong way. Dave even openly called him a "dork" in one of his last appearances on Late Night (Dave's show before the Late Show).
Meg Ryan was treated very poorly by Parkinson. She wasn't being rude or obnoxious, at least not to the extent thay deserved that kind of response.
He was rude, petulant and childish and took it far too personally. Big mistake.
