I really love early Death, but their later, more progressive stuff never really clicked with me. I respect what it did for the death metal genre, but I just couldn't get into it. Yet, hearing a lot of those similar song writing and riffing ideas translated to this band just made it work for me, for some reason. I'm amazed I wasn't aware of this band before today, but I'm glad I know about them. It's a shame both Chuck and Tim Aymar are gone, and it's especially heartbreaking that we not only didn't get more of this band, but didn't get to see where Chuck's creative vision went from here. Even if I wasn't a fan of all of his work, it amazes me how he just kept creatively evolving and growing. He was a real artist.

Chuck barely did enough axework to do this one Control Denied album, and then the brain cancer took him. Chuck Shuldiner was taken from this world way too soon. RIP Chuck.
white zombie sound or perseverance was suposed to be a control denied album but Chuck could not get it going for whatever reason so he made it as a Death Album
Chuck was tired of Death, but the record deal hadn't been completed yet, so in the end he took songs that would be from this album and sang them, and that's how "The Sound Of Perseverance" came about.
Chuck was tired of Death, the last album had songs from that that were removed, even the guitar tone is similar. We can call this a "Sound Of Perseverance Part II".
