Dear friends and family, We thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality and kindness of Taiwanese that has made this an awesome trip. To be honest, this trip would have been very challenging if it weren't for the help from a lot of friends we made in Taiwan. So, I want to show this beautiful side of Taiwan. Taiwanese are, as you figured out, not typically very good at the "wok hey" technique. It's good you still managed to find some decent lunch anyways! Cheers, Guy

@@journeywiththejongs In Taiwan, it is I suspect the Fujian versus Cantonese thing. Malaysia has a mix, but in Taiwan it's the former and its "wetter" cooking that mostly dominates, with some exceptions (typically at Hakka places where they know how to stir fry). Great videos btw---I love your approach and attitude!
@@journeywiththejongs There is a great variety (mostly regional) among Hakka communities in Taiwan, including some Hoklo-ized groups in northern Taiwan (this includes our former president Lee Teng-hui) to the Hakka in Hsinchu County / Miaoli County areas (here the focus would be on the town of Beipu), to the Hakka in the south (dispersed in different parts of the region, including the Hakka / Paiwan contact zone, which is where our currently president Tsai Ing-wen comes from) to the community of Meinong in Kaohsiung. From a visitor's perspective, there is a lot to see, but for cooking I personally prefer the Hsinchu County Hakka foods including bantiao and high temperature wok cooking. For next time! Cheers, Guy
@@journeywiththejongs PS When I've had Japanese visitors here in Taiwan, they seem to enjoy the Hakka stir fries perhaps more so than a lot of the Fujian wet foods. The Hakka dishes are typically seasoned more forcefully and go nicely with white rice. Served with good tea, it's very satisfying!
English was the main language back in Australia. In Japan, mainly Japanese. Mandarin is the least used. But when we were in Malaysia before Japan, we used a bit more Mandarin. So environment plays a huge factor.

Hi, yes born and raised in Malaysia! :) Migrated to Australia and studied there. Took time off work last year to travel around Malaysia and Japan so now temporarily leaving in Japan.
I understand Japan is cleaner but I don’t think it’s that bad. I’ve seen worse in Malaysia. Also its the original/authentic market culture so we get to experience it. 🤓

城中市場裡，我比較常吃你們吃的那家的右手邊的那一家豆花，那也是一家老店，以前是老伯伯在賣的，現在換他兒子賣，每次逛到那附近一定會去吃一碗。
真的懂得人會在巷道裡面找小吃，巷子裏的小吃才道地😊
下次如果有機會再來玩，可以去逛逛台北車站附近的土地銀行博物館，裡面有大型恐龍化石，而且門票很便宜，小朋友會很喜歡的，馬路對面的台灣博物館也很值得逛，供您參考

在台灣有很多7-11便利商店都有賣平價又好喝的咖啡 裡面還有免費休息區 提供充電或是飲食 走累了可以進去任何一家便利商店休息哦！

旅居國外的親友每次回台，每天先要超商咖啡，便當店的雞腿便當，台灣麥當勞賣的薯條，麵包店的波羅蔥花麵包，聚餐喜歡石頭火鍋和熱炒，訂五星餐廳還不要寧願逛夜市，以為是客氣，結果是離開台灣就吃不到了。😂 如果有機會到小琉球，小朋友可以浮潛看身旁的海龜一起游泳。
超商有ATM $$$, ibon可以訂火車票，門票，影印傳真文件，繳各種生活雜費，可以躲雨叫計程車不用帶小朋友雨淋日曬在路邊枯等，旗艦店的超商像主題樂園一樣漂亮有趣； 可以把旅途中的採購或部分暫時用不到行李衣物，用店到店的方式寄到你們將抵達的區域再去領取減輕旅途中的負擔。 半夜肚子餓也能吃到熱騰騰的美食，微波便當也不賴。超商提供插座充電也能租借行動電源，台灣超商像多啦A夢一樣萬能😂

芭樂的甘甜很少外國的朋友會喜歡。小弟我出身在馬來西亞，吃芭樂就跟澳洲人吃蘋果一樣，一整粒的吃。而且天天吃。日本沒得吃，所以一到台灣就要吃個夠！😎
平常有在吃烤物培根香腸火腿的人，可以多吃芭樂，增加亞硝酸鹽的代謝喔⋯⋯

Hi, yes born and raised in Malaysia! :) Migrated to Australia and studied there. Took time off work last year to travel around Malaysia and Japan so now temporarily leaving in Japan.

The markets in TW are very dirty ! They should clean up and model them after those in Japan !
I understand Japan is cleaner but I don’t think it’s that bad. I’ve seen worse in Malaysia. Also its the original/authentic market culture so we get to experience it. 🤓
台灣的市場有分兩種 一種是室內 比較乾淨 相對的價錢就會高一點、一種室外的傳統市場 價位會比較親民一些 看需求 選擇想去的市場買
