"independently powered"... does this mean the iPad can no longer power this device over its USB-C connection?
To avoid draining the battery of you iOS device Focusrite has included a seperate power cable to power the Scarlett interface in that instance of use!
@@StudiosparesTV So they are removing the ability to be powered by the iOS device? I currently use a Focusrite 2i2, 3rd gen, every week at my gig and it is powered by the iPad. I am asking if the iPad can still power this device without the need of an independent power source?
@@SeanWilsonPianothey are not. It will be powered by the iPad but you have the option of independently powering it up. The Solo is still going to be only bus powered.
I am glad you have make improvements because I was very disappointed with the 2i4 I bought, and wasn't as good as a cheaper USB interface.

I do have a question. I bought the 212 4 th gen and connected it to my Mac. The led lights are burning now 24 hours a day, is that an issue or is that no problem?

Does the Scarlett Solo have Presence mode, or just Air Mode?

I like the upgrades but disappointed that the ports are at the back so I'm having to buy the 4i4 (which I don't need). It makes swapping mics, attaching/deattaching more of a pain.

Im torn b/n getting a used 3rd gen 2i2 or a 4th gen solo., they are both similarly priced and i really dont mind a used 2i2 as long as it functions well. But does the new features plus upgraded sound quality make the 4th gen solo a better choice? Im just worried that the solo would not be enough in the near future as the music room includes guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals.Considering this is my first audio interface since m-audio more than 10 years ago. 🤔🤔

Maybe a dumb question but can u use a headphone out on the front line in? For example connect iPad to line in and mic on xlr and mix them together?
You can't mix the two signals together on the Solo as it's only one input but with the right connections, you could achieve this combination of signals with any of the Scarlett range from the 2i2 and up!

a latency performance-test would be the most important thing to know.
There is no single latency spec. It’s competitive with the best of native interfaces. As with all native setups, your computer is the determining factor. 4-5ms RTL is possible if your setup can handle 32 sample buffers. That’s about all you can ever expect with a native system.
I just got mine and the latency is better than the Clarett I was previously using. The sound quality is also better. Where it falls short is with the headphone amplifier and the lack of an on/off switch. Had I not had a headphone amplifier handy I wouldn't have been able to use this device with my new Beyerdynamics dt770 pro.

The RedNet converters certainly deliver when it comes to audio quality!
