Starting with a TV. Why am I not surprised? I just got my new apartment and starting from scratch. I mean the very bottom, no spoon, no blanket, nothing. Ex- wife took everything. BUT, I'm super excited about the new beginning. I don't have money right now and still have to pay for my new power account and connection. I don't have an idea what's gonna happen and trusting God to come through for me. Congratulations on your new home.

I am in the same situation since last year. With my son, we began a new life with nothing else but our clothing, 2 forks, 1 spoon and 2 knives. No fridge no microwave nothing even beds ! Friends of us help us to begin our new life. I have a real bed since only one month ! Be brave and hugs from France.

My husband and i did the same thing. No presents, no help, just us with our mattress on the floor and an empty apartment. Now we have everything we need besides a few other small things. It feels great knowing we did it on our own.

Aww this makes my heart happy❣️ I moved across the country alone years ago and had to start over with nothing and it was a depressing and discouraging feeling at the time. You’re so brave to take on the challenge of moving to a whole new country. You must have had to work very hard to gradually accumulate new furniture and make your home cozy. I’m a girl and I totally started with my tv, what else am I gonna watch while I build my ikea living room?
you remind me of when me and my mother first started off we went from living in people homes for 2 years they telling us that we can't eat their food or put the heater or air on to living in our own place free to do what we want, eat when we want. In 5 months we did our whole apartment that we don't even have space now and thinking of moving to a house. So I get everything that went on in this video.

I'm a guy and I'm moving out soon. This was a video that was purely honest in my opinion. Starting out with a mattress on the floor then moving on up is what alot of guys do when moving out. Watching Friends while furnishing is such a mood. Thanks for this honest video! Oftentimes I see CZcamsrs just buying everything at once, but I don't have that kind of money to burn. Furnishing will be a gradual thing for me. I'll be moving out next month and I'm nervous.

To furnish a one bedroom apartment starting from nothing: first buy a very good mattress set (either twin or full size), two high quality sheet sets (white), one or two good quality bed pillows, two good quality sets of bath towels (white), one thrift shop/yard sale table lamp with shade (plain style), one set of plastic clothes hangers and one plastic laundry basket. That minimally "furnishes" a bedroom and bathroom. A bed frame (used), nightstand (used) and curtains (clearance or used), chest of drawers (used), etc. can be bought later. Next, buy two comfortable upholstered chairs (clearance or used), one small table (clearance or used) tall enough to use as a dining table but small enough to also use as a side table and one floor lamp with shade (thrift shop or yard sale). That minimally furnishes a living/dining room. An area rug, TV, real dining table and chair set, TV console table, curtains and small sofa can all be bought used or on clearance much later. For a kitchen that already has basic appliances, you will need one medium size skillet and one medium size saucepan (clearance or thrift shop), one good quality chef knife (buy the best quality you can afford), one plastic cutting board (dollar store), one plastic colander (dollar store), one set of plastic cooking utensils (dollar store), one set of glass or plastic drinking glasses (clearance or thrift shop), enough microwave safe plates and bowls (thrift shop) to serve a meal to two people, some stainless steel forks, spoons and knives (thrift shop) and a way to make coffee or tea if you drink either of these beverages (many coffeemakers and electric tea kettles available at thrift shops or on clearance). Always start with the basics you need to get a good night's sleep --- a good quality mattress and sheet set. And make sure you soon get the basics to prepare an inexpensive homemade meal. If you avoid buying meals someone else has prepared, you will have more money to buy basic furnishings for your apartment. A TV is a luxury -- never ever make that your first purchase. Do not be too proud to accept hand-me-down furniture and accessories from relatives or friends if these are items you really need and are in good condition. Do not focus on color and style -- focus on usefulness, quality and cost-saving.

I have a vacuum like that and I love more than my heavy duty dyson.
Um Awladha I have that one as well. But I use it as a handheld for corners and baseboards as it can be taken apart. Certainly NOT a true cleaner's vacuum. Doesn't have a roll brush! I bought it for under $20 at Walmart.
there’s nothing wrong with that vacuum. when you’re starting off and on a budget you work with what you have until you grow.

It’s crazy to think I started out like this also 3 years ago. In a same small 1 bedroom apartment. 5 moves later from a 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 1 bedroom to a 3 bedroom lmao I feel very accomplished started out with regular decent Walmart furniture to nice quality expensive furniture. IKEA might not be the best place for furniture and home decor, but for simplicity that gets the job done, this video definitely shows what it can accomplish.
My place is almost entirely furnished with IKEA furniture. The stuff itself is minimal, but it's sturdy and after adding your own personal flair through blankets, books, and random shit, it can look just as good as fancy furniture.

I'm on the same journey. I took nothing but a few boxes of clothes, my tv, Xbox and laptop. The first night I bought a mattress and a bed frame from Costco. The next few weeks a dresser and a table from offer up. With this last pay I got a desk and a vacuum. My place is still pretty empty but this guys video reminds me that I'll get there someday.
Also, it's I really can't wait to own a couch and coffee table. Like seriously I been looking forward to getting a nice couch for a few months now.
