Thanks for the information. I can't afford a real Tony, but I just got my a KO for my personal collection and person enjoyment. I wish I could have bought a real one and supported the official, but I am not rich. This is just for me to enjoy because I never got to have one as a kid.

I enjoyed the way you compared the articulation between this and the original licensed version. Easiest differences I've seen in just this video are the Decepticon symbols.
Looking forward to see how well Robot Hero does their Soundwave KO. After Airstrike I have a feeling it will feel more premium than TT.
Since this is one (just got it yesterday) will be mostly for display, I love it. I was pleasantly surprised he has die-cast metal feet with rocker joints! My only 2 gripes are that palm-peg for his gun doesn’t hold too well, and getting Laserbeak to sit and stay connected to SW’a arms or shoulder is a nightmare. Bit overall, he’s beautiful!

Frank Marzegliano I love mine big time so far, and anyone who’s been in my house or through totes can attest that Hasbro/takara/tomy already have plenty of my money, so good KO’s for low cost is a great option. You won’t be disappointed so long as you don’t abuse it, or God forbid, let a child play with it!

I have this type if KO. I really don’t care about the paint given its a KO. My real concern is about the ratchets on its torso! The tiny plastic holding the entire legs is just flimsy and I’m so scared that it might break from transforming it several times. You have to be sure not to stress that. Overall, its the same as the authentic. Even the fingers are all articulated which is awesome! If I will have the money to burn, I’ll buy Takara Tomy’s in a heartbeat. One of the best KO in my opinion.
Just got this, feels fragile to me. Partially because the ratchets are so strong. Mine has an issue with the faceplate, as it’s not completely molded correctly on the right side.
It’s quite good looking, so it’ll make a nice display piece.
I was looking at the inside of the foot and noticed there are 2 small metal gunst in there :-). Good video, learned a lot.

Glad I came across this video. My ex-girlfriend threw out my pre 2016 collection and smashed most of the displayed bots. So I have been trying to rebuild my collection and it's not cheap. Ive been waiting for Fans Toys to release a version of him, but I'd like to have Soundwave in the collection while I wait. A KO is the perfect place holder, until someone makes a new one.

Looks like a decent representation of the original. I will be getting the black version if it is a good price.
As far as KOs go, this one is great. Beware the plastic on Laserbeak, it's a bit brittle, I snapped off a fin during a simple re-posing. Still, for 70 USD I'm not mad.

@Benscollectables so the one KO Takara MP13 that is all over eBay is that the SAME as this KO? I noticed in the photos of the version on eBay the top of his shoulder canon has a big split seam on it.. Im not seeing the same split seam on this KO from this video..
Have you heard anything about KBB doing any more KO MPs in Voyager scale like MP-10V? They scale almost perfectly with the CHUGs. KO MP-13V would be a great place to start. I'd be very agreeable with simplified transformations, as long as the robot mode was great.
I just got this one. I like the deeper blue color of the KO. I'm not selling him ever so the minor flaws mean nothing to me. I do wish Laserbeak's case was blue not pink. Nice review.

Finally just picked up the KO on. Other than that not standing straight. Yeah, they're awesome. Awesome for a third of the price. Have an original. Maybe I'll do a video. Have my collections kale and peas. And they are pretty awesome for at least half the price. For display. Just got sunstreaker KO and transform him. Wow

I was trying to find it in the video, did yours come with two guns in his feet? One in each? It's like the same guns that you get with rumble but it doesn't have the plastic insert to put in their hand & back.

It greatly puzzles me how no one talks about the "secret" feet compartments in both the KO and the THF that enclose a weird antena thing each. I really don't know about the Takara but seems to me way to engineered to be an addition by the former. Can anyone confirm?
How would you say the plastic quality is on this figure compared the original? Because I'm thinking of getting it. I understand that there are slight differences/similarities between the original and KO but do they feel different when holding them in your hand?

This Soundwave really does look good, it's crazy how 3rd party and KOs are so high quality when usually you'd expect them to be trash bin tier.

yours may have been a bad one buddy but they are KO figures , there is next to no QC on them and for 60-70 bucks its crazy good , even for customisation.

How to Know KO Takara Tomy and Orginal Takara Tomy ?
If he's REALLY cheap I'd buy him as a place holder - but with so many options at the moment some of which have improvements over the original - i'm holding back.
Also I would like an MP style Shattered Soundwave so whoever makes that gets my money and whoever doesn't likely will get me buying a Soundblaster or a Soundwave colour version - I do like the one that is a bit paler than the legit one and a bit darker also has some appeal too. I think i'd be leaning towards a version with full articulated hands though as I think i'd get the most fun out of that feature overall.
I was planning on getting the Ocular Max bots so a Soundwave to go with them would be nice - I'd kinda like a Voyager/small Ultra class one though too but designed to it can still take normal size cassettes. basically a size some where between G1 & MP. or G1 size but a little chunkier - Heck is someone wants to go nuts and make a 40cm one i'd buy that too.
Hi Benz, my ko soundwave doesnt have the arms problem not tabbing into the back while in device mode.
Same with mine, I wonder if they’ve maybe improved these since this review was done? I feel it’s pretty decent quality
Just bought this on Ebay! Hope the seller is not a scammer... there are alot of them from China now.
Thankfully with ebay you can get your money back guaranteed. Although with Chinese bootlegs and 3rd party figures I recommend using AliExpress, I have never had an issue buying from it, can't say the same with eBay 😃

It’s a bit late but mine has the same problem on one arm. It’s a loose ratchet and needs the panel to come off so screw it in but I can’t pry it off. Have you had any luck?

seems like they updated this to be more like "real" version. Better paint and thumbs are the same, i would have prefered them to keep the movable thumbs though.

Wich one would you recommend for someone who can't afford the Takara one, the KO from this video or the THF-01?
THF seems to have more cassettes included, but it seems this one looks a bit better from what I gatehred. Currently in the same process
Watched a lot of reviews of THF, RH, KO and all I can say is that the KO is a better figure.
Interesting...but I think I'll wait to see that other one (THF Sonicwave). I've heard that the plastic quality on this one is pretty bad.

I've got the same Ko but... that one looks very good realy😂 his face looks good... but the only problem was the strong and tight "rachet joinds" thay are a bitt to tight😂 i'm scared his lags break so i screwed a bit lose so it wouln't be scary to transform again haha, paint on mine is good aswell with lazerbeak... but every thing is just very tight and strong haha so be carefull... allso some finger pins are coming out sometimes... but again posing is pritty fun with him. I'm happy that i heve him...
i got him today just an hour ago and he is an realy good figure but i do whish it was an takara😂😅 it was an birthday precent aftherall but hey its soundwave and i like it ;)
My KO is really good, but the hands are not the same as all the other official pics I've seen, even on the KO box itself. All the fingers are articulated, but EXTREMELY fragile and prone to falling off. I wish I could replace the hands. Also, the legs are VERY difficult to lock in/unlock during transformation.
There are replacement hands you can get I believe.
I am getting KO MP Megatron if and when it comes out, no way I am spending 230 dollars on an official one.

Mouthpiece is a lot lower quality obviously, but other than that, he's buyable.
Looks better than that Walmart Netflix exclusive in my opinion.

ButtZilla1031 I got the THF version and I love it!! The cassettes do have some thin paint on some areas and my Rumble and Frenzy did have some loose joints but all N all I love my THF version.
Did you have problems with inserting and ejecting tapes with THF? Thx!
ButtZilla1031 I did run into one issue with putting a cassette in but I think I put it in incorrectly... tried it again and no issues.
How well do you think the colors match to use the KO for parts? I have a Soundwave that has a broken panel on the leg and I was considering buying one for parts

Similar issues with mine, arms pegged in too tight when in bot mode causing it to stick, risk breaking it if you attempt to force it.... that being said using "force" like that you will break it.... so don't keep pulling..... a pry out and some x-acto knife work in about 2 seconds permanently resolved the issue.

I got this version and his rewind button was a mess! Had to repaint it with a chrome paint? I bought the KFC hands so he could actually hold his gun!
No judging, but why in the fan community do TF knock offs seem more acceptable and ok with people than the buying of any other type of product that has been KO'd? And how is it that everyone, not just Ebay is selling them proudly and freely?
And yeah I'll be getting some of my own.
The TF brand was a ko to begin with. Hasbro took something that was already a thing in Japan and made it their own. So anything overseas would be more original then Hasbro.

Well, no wonder that the official figures gets more expensive or get more and more QC issues then. I don't support KO's at all! The people behind this KO doesn't even try to hide the fact that they're stealing from someone else. I don't understand why they don't get sued for this.
eSeReS Some people don't like KO's and I myself do! Some KO's out do the originals in QC and I can say that because I do own Takara and the KO counterparts... to each his own I guess.
It's pretty much a fruitless endeavor to sue over chinese knockoffs.... China always sides with companies in China over it in their courts.... so you would end up just shelling out legal fees foe something you cannot win.
