    Teacher can I ask you a question. what is the most general essay/common essay that teachers start teaching. I mean, they obviously teach about introduction/thesis statement , body and conclusion. But what is the name of the most common essay that they start teaching ? Thanks .

    • @LearnAcademicEnglish
      @LearnAcademicEnglish  Před rokem +3

      We usually just refer to it as the 5-paragraph essay. We usually start with how to write a good paragraph with 3 supporting reasons and then show them that they can change that paragraph into a whole essay by taking those 3 reasons and creating a body paragraph for each one. When we first introduce this type of essay, we start with an easy prompt like Do you prefer to live in a big city or small town? Why? We usually start with a narrative essay or cause/effect (discussing reasons).

    Hello madam,
    I hope you are doing well.
    I have a question. Do all essays have hook statement, background, thesis thesis statement, supporting and conclusion? Kindly reply. Thank you.

    • @LearnAcademicEnglish
      @LearnAcademicEnglish  Před rokem

      Great question. Most essays have that structure:
      Introduction paragraph w/ hook, background, and thesis statement
      Body paragraphs that support the thesis statement
      Conclusion paragraph
      There are a few exceptions. For example, right now I am teaching my students how to write a summary & response essay, which is a bit different, but that is like an exception. Almost all essays follow the structure you mentioned.

    Ms, i wanna ask you about one of example in this video. does the "Permanent housing should be provided to the homeless for the following reasons: to reduce long-term costs, clean up city centers, and encourage rehabilitation and emplyment" is tobe the tittle of our thesis?

    • @LearnAcademicEnglish
      @LearnAcademicEnglish  Před měsícem

      That is the thesis. The title and the thesis are different. The thesis tells a sentence that tells the main idea of the essay.
