    I wrote a short story in high school called “The Last Batman Story”. This was in 1988 or 89. In it, Bruce marries Selina. He stops being Batman. Then Joker kills Selina, Bruce as himself, not Batman, kills Joker and ends up in prison. I guess I was ahead of my time.

Bruce , Harley and the twins arrive at the Ancient Operahouse on a gondola...they plan to catch a n early screening of the phantom of the opera....A semi automatic uleashes hell in the form of a twisted tornado of lead and gun powder.....the rest, they say...is history

      Jon Erwin no that honor went to DC comics and the New York Times all he did was help promote a story that was billed as the Batman catwoman wedding and then not go through with it and there by farther delude the trust the readers and creators haves with each other

    • @writingtotortureyou
      @writingtotortureyou Před 6 lety +5

      GayyDikkz69swagyolo420hahahaBLAZEIT at the very least this issue has been billed as the wedding issue don’t call it that if it’s not a wedding issue call it will they won’t they? Something that at least displays a possibility of them not getting married don’t have an engagement issue then 25 other issues setting up the wedding them 5 preludes that all call themselves wedding preludes that is misleading at best and betrays the trust of readers

I do agree that DC shouldn't be spoiling shit ... I don't believe Tom King had anything to do with it ... Wedding or no wedding ... People would have been bitching about something regardless !

    Either his Batman run will include Helena Wayne, or it's a failure. A marriage isn't a big enough reward, because there'll always be a chance of it ending with a breakup. A kid destined to become a superhero, is more solid and everlasting. It's tough because Tom King does A LOT of interviews, and lies a lot. It's really unprecedented, and I'm curious to see how fans will respond to him at Cons, going forward.

    Well I've never heard of this writer, but that's on me, not him....reading the fans posts where they go back and forth about him is interesting. I like these creator interviews whether it be artists or writers because I like to know what they're thinking and the "how and why" in their process. I can tell which side of the political spectrum he lands on because of the way he describes our current state of events. I don't agree with that assessment, but I understand that there are people out there that do feel that way. Very fascinating, thanks for posting.

    • @paulwright1814
      @paulwright1814 Před 5 lety +4

      Houdini Catfish Respectfully, I don’t see how it’s a character assassination. King’s been pretty clear that he’s telling one big story that he’s planned out, at least in broad strokes, with a beginning, middle, and end. This Batman run has been about, can Batman be happy? and Bane’s brutal attempt to “break” Batman in a psychological way. The fact that Selina leaves Bruce standing at the alter, is a massive emotional blow for Bruce Wayne. So I think the fact that they didn’t get married, really works in the context of the story. Maybe DC hyped up the big wedding event too much for marketing purposes? But that’s on DC, not Tom King. With the exception of the recent “Knightmare” arc, I’ve loved King’s run. The story has still been a really interesting and unique take on Batman.

      Personally, I'm extremely conflicted by this guy. On the one hand, The War of Jokes and Riddles was a great story where he examined what would happen if Batman broke his no killing rule. On the other hand, The Gift was a complete garbage story in which it looks like he doesn't understand any of the characters involved in the story. I haven't read 48-50 yet, but I know that based on his characterization of Booster Gold, I will be very upset by his Heroes in Crisis story coming up, especially if that story explains his understanding of that character...
