Diagonal roads the benefits 1. Longer roads, more zones 2 . No more traffic problems 3. Looks of your city Example a single grid in skyline is about 2000 metres by 2000 metres so a straight road from on end to the other is 2000 metres, however a straight road Diagonal is 2840 metres long you gain 840 metres So traffic than? Well in vanilla, the citizens will always take the fastest road first to get from x to y . In this example the first " normal " road is 2000 metres long to get the same length as a Diagonal road ( 2880 metres) you neeto build a road in the other direction AKA traffic lights ( vanilla) as for a Diagonal road no junction no traffic lights = smooth traffic even in mid and late game. Note 45° and 75° Diagonal are best .
