  • The Soft Field Landing as the name implies is a landing technique used most frequently on soft field surfaces. Liz (CFI) discusses why you would want to use the soft field landing technique over the regular landing technique.

Great video. The only thing I would add is to consider whether or not a gust factor is needed. Thanks for your hard work of producing these videos.

@@ThrustFlight yes very well, thanks for asking! And yes your videos helped a lot: I was magically confident when entering parts of the test for which I saw videos! A very interesting feeling! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

@@nickthakyd very well, thanks for asking! I'm now back in aviation world after a 12 years hiatus... It seems watching aviation videos made the passion come back in full force! Are you a pilot yourself? Professional or private?

Super helpful for student pilots thank you! I was going to ask you if once the main wheels touch down and the nose is still pitched up if he is using rudder inputs to keep on the center line but you answered while I was typing lol. You said full back pressure once the mains touch down. Is there any risk in a tail strike with full back pressure? Thx!

I believe I would keep my hand on the throttle just in case you need to add some power quickly. Was a good landing, but I believe not having a hand on the throttle is a mistake.

Are we just going to ignore both hands on the yoke…🫣😩

I was thinking the same. As an instructor it was pretty cringe worthy to watch 😬😬

Same my instructor wouldve roasted me for that. he is doing it because one arm is really difficult to do that soft field flare. But i think i would fail at myflight school if i did that so id better not.

Why he removed his hand from the throttle during final after "idle"? I think its a mistake.

Why would we not want to make the softest touchdown possible on every landing?

Just quick refresher keep the flaps in correct? Short field raise flaps and keep back pressure but soft field keep flaps in?

When the mains are on the ground, is it ONLY rudder at that point to maintain the centerline?

Great Video now I'm gonna have to practice those again. Got relaxed on them because I'm always on a hard runway.
Also no loud blearing music that's playing too.
One other comment check your mic because your voice is a little scratchy but audio from the Airplane was clear.
