- Chinook Royal Air Force Full Display
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is an American twin-engined, tandem rotor, heavy-lift helicopter developed by American rotorcraft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol (later known as Boeing Rotorcraft Systems). The CH-47 is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters. Its name, Chinook, is from the Native American Chinook people of modern-day Washington state.
The RAF Chinook fleet is the largest outside the United States.] RAF Chinooks have seen extensive service in the Falklands War, the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
The Chinook aircraft, normally based at RAF Odiham, provides heavy-lift support and transport across all branches of the British armed forces. The RAF has a total of 60 Chinooks in active inventory as of 2018. In 2018, the UK issued a request to the United States to purchase 16 additional aircraft. The Chinook is expected to remain in RAF service until the 2040s.
This Video was filmed At RIAT Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 july 2015
I served as an engineer on the Chinooks in the RAF. Now I'm near retirement and guess where I live? Half a mile from the base where they are! PARADISE! We get to see them practicing for MONTHS for this display! These pilots are THE BEST.
Question....
How on earth do the chinook's manage all that stress? That has always been a question on my mind, The rotors for example, against the forces of the sharp turns.
I heard that the Chinook Demo of the last year is not so intensive anymore because of the stress on the aircraft and sharp turns aren't made anymore . The same thing happened with the Lynx heli who performed a real loop in the years 88 - 93 . Later it was just a turn back loop from the hoover.
@@jasecee8992 It can lift 12,000kg (26,000lbs) on its cargo hooks. At an empty weight of about the same, it can lift two of itself (inclusive), essentially. And while I fully believe the thing could maneuver in such a way to produce that kind of loading on the airframe and rotors, I dont think these maneuvers approached that at all. These aerobatics are showing off its performance envelope, not its operational envelope. Theres lots of stuff all sorts of aircraft can only do once and still make it back home......We just dont usually get to see it ;)
The crew must have stomachs of concrete! Such amazing maneuverability.
this aircraft is so stable it feels like nothing more than a six flags ride when doing stunts ...it is a air frame from the 50s so well proven platform
My obsession... Living by the air base you can hear them coming for miles.. Best sound ever
True 😉

Wop, wop, wop, wop....
Wow really impressive demonstration. That nose down short stop was seriously cool
I had no idea a Chinook could do these maneuvers 👍
Not only are they ridiculously maneuverable, period. Like, as in not just for their size. But they're also one of the fastest helis in the military. And that is not meant to imply the others are slow. The CH-47 (some variants) can haul all of the ass if they choose to....
Insanity! Unbelievable flying
These helicopter pilots flying and their crew are absolutely amazing and thank you for amazing flying skills.
That sound! ❤
Arguably the RAF's finest asset. Only the USA has a larger Chinook fleet than we do!
I'm glad the Canadian Forces decided to acquire new ones back into the fleet, years after they sold their original fleet to the Dutch. The CF can be shortsighted at times. It was only after getting the new ones that they created CMERT, based on the British MERT concept.
Great zoom lens, but you don’t get a real sense of the aircraft movement, it’s a shame the camera person did not zoom out a little so there is ground showing or something to see the helicopter moving against an object to orientate the video for the viewer. Awesome aircraft though.
amazing video , love the blade slap
Thank You ,
Marvellous Chinook maneuvers 😎
Class machine! CLASS VIDEO!! THANK YOU!!
Thank You , Greetings
The bus is a beast
Thanks
I miss thé noise so much i usrd to live cn Alton
Very nice video. Amazing demonstration and piloting of a helicopter. I like this machine, and it's my favorite.
Thanks greetings
Amazing Aircraft and Crew
A hint and a plea for people videoing aircraft like this ... keep the ground in view. It gives the viewer something to compare the aircraft's attitude and speed to.
My favorite transport 😁
2009 Boeing Ch-47 Chinook Helicopter
These pilots are awesome .
Look at that beast go!!!!!
Awesome!!!great pilots.
Wonderful!
Oh my god!
They are fast too!!!
its great to see a big WOCKA WOCKA being flown like this , great machine and a fantastic driver, and well done to the big handed loadie in the back
Couldn't agree more!
What a beautiful bird!
대단히 훌륭한 구조용 헬기 입니다
I get airsick just watching this. Incredible flying!
i feel the wind!
man thats so fucking cool. love this shit
Amazing freaks. Those guys from the RAF
Does anyone else get nervous about those two rotors?
That's beauty of engineering and physics
[01/09/23] Pitching the nose up and flying backwards on the rear wheels while ensuring the rear blades don't strike the ground is a mad manoeuver, especially with the pilots being so far forward. What is the blade ground clearance on such a manoeuver? The pinnacle manoeuver is also very hairy looking.
Sick!
Believe it or not, they can fly upside down
To think that These Machines can outrun an Apache.
My goodness!! Who knew this ugly machine was so capable from a civilian view 😆 .. New found Respect ! F#@k an osprey lol
What camera do you use and great video👊
Thanks .This was filmed with a Sony FDR AX-1 , this camera is still in reparation (3Months) and for the moment I use a Panasonic HC-X 2000
They should bring this to fleet week san francisco
You need to get the Navy to invite the Army's Chinooks to fleet week. IDT the Navy or Marines have any like these?
Those dudes waving out of the side doors at 1:22 and 4:40 (and probably elsewhere).
The door guys need to grab a paddle so on the high speed pass instead of waving it looks like they're paddling like mad......Well, I think id be funny.....
did the chinhook bow at the end? 😭
Yes
Rihanna - go on and take a 4:52
RUINED BY THAT MAN NATTERING SO MUCH
Amazing camera skills!!
Nothing worse than a cameraman who doesn't know how to use a camera,
Thank you .
They should have flownover the queen s send off ..
😎👍
The other Cow boys. ❤
The announcer is CLUELESS about annunciation. His voice is too high and lacks command and authority, he’s RUSHING his (clearly read from a script) lines, and is seemingly oblivious to how the acoustic nature of a P.A. system needs to be learnt properly before using one
do i use your footage ...please grant permission to use
Sorry , first i have to know what you want to do with it ?
@@marcs_best_airshow_videos bro i am making a vlog on airshow which i shoot recently but . that footage is not that good so need your footage to tell viewers.
Ok
I would pay for a ride but not more than 2k
Flew in the back of one before. Even cooler than it looks because they leave the ramp down at the back
😉💪🏻💪🏻
this is very unsafe for the aircraft it's not designed for such extreme maneuvers
