  • So by now, you should have all seen the first set of JWST images released yesterday, and I’ve seen a few people saying they were slightly underwhelmed by them. So, let me try explain why they’re so unbelievable.

    I think the reason people might feel underwhelmed by these images is that, for most people, it’s almost incomprehensible to imagine the scope of the universe captured in images like these. For someone who hasn’t really accepted how tiny and minuscule we humans are in the grand scheme of it all, this is just an image filled with shiny dots. For people who accept and understand just how expansive space is, and are interested in the science around it, these images are breathtaking and absolutely mind blowing.

      Absolutely, I 100% agree, doesn't it make you feel like a gnat on a grain of sand? It's absolutely mesmerising and amazingly beautiful to look at even though it's impossible to fully comprehend the scale of it all, like when he said the galaxy formation is 7 light years high???? It would take 7 years for light to travel from the bottom to the top??!! That's friggen insane!! But super cool.

      Metal detectors in space have a tendency for detecting the radiation from a single star in space that has a very small radius and a small amount in space and is very close enough for a single person in the space station that is very small enough for the entire planet and is not visible from space at the moment but in a way it can detect a lot more than a single person from the planet in space and the entire universe and the entire solar system

    hubble looks like paintings, beautiful oil paintings. However, JWST has given us beautiful photos that look like you're staring through the glass of a spaceship at these nebulas, exoplanets, stars, galaxies, and every other beauty that lies beyond our telescopes in our backyard. I wish I could live to see these beauties in person even if I'm not even in college yet. But, that's the truth that we have to admit. However, the more and more people see Hubble's beautiful oil painting-like photos and compare them with JWST with major thought the more and more humanity will drive to give the future generations the tech, ability, and most important confidence with a touch of love to see these wonders that I can't describe for themselves. If you see this comment you probably won't live to see what I picture. but, I envision people living in space and preserving every beautiful inch of it. And there is no need to say you found the world's eighth wonder anymore because we have already found it. We stare at it, wondering: "what's happening out there." That eighth wonder is space. The empty void paints an abstract painting about anything we can fit in our minds. It brings a tear to my eye knowing that I won't be able to follow the journey the future generations will, but it gives me hope. I only hope we don't see it as storage for our toxic waste, or a temporary solution to overpopulation, but as a delicate ecosystem that thrives with us. I hope we focus on preserving space rather than polluting it. Because in space, we live as mere organisms. mere organisms in a universe better described as an oil painting. Beautiful is the only way I can describe the universe. So if you're reading this, and you traveling to mars, venus, or the rest of what lies beyond our earth don't do what we did to earth, because we want to go to mars to escape overpopulation and global warming. Don't do it with space because if you do... that painting that I love and we love, will be gone. A blank canvas. I'm not in high school, and I'm not a genius. I'm average. So in other terms... Even an average joe under the age of 16 can understand the beauties of space, and the temptations humanity will have to destroy it. Well, I love my canvas of space. I hope you do too.

    • @AstroKobi
      @AstroKobi  Před rokem +2

      Absolutely, we can take pictures of closer galaxies, the image of Stephan’s Quintet is only 290 million light years away. However, it’s unlikely JWST will be able to make out an image of an exoplanet around a star just because the stars are so much brighter than the planets. Think of it like shining a tiny torch right beside a HUGE stadium light, the massive light overwhelms the tiny light and makes it hard to see.

    I never would have known about JWST and loads of other stuff if not AstroKobi. He's just a person who teaches me such amazing things.

    How are the two satalites taking identical photos, shouldn't they be taking somewhat different images by their location?

    Around 6:54 we have the standard statement about the age of the universe aka ~13-15 billion years. Though, we know that initially the universe had the size of a mathematical point, a singularity and was infinitely dense, which means that time back then and time today cannot be the same thing. Thanks to relativity, we know that the denser the mass the slower time flows, so when you have infinite density a second can last for ever. We also are told that when the universe started expanding from that singularity it had a certain temperature, so did we use a thermometer to check this temperature? It had a certain volume. Does this mean that 3D volume that we know and 11D volume (according to modern scientists) are the same? When we talk about the universe and such things, shouldn't we clarify these meaning first?

    You should do a vidio on the chances on bad things happening to earth. How long it would take, higest chance, lowest, etc.

    Sorry for the question, but how many images will the JWST actually take; and over how much time?

      I heard it’s lifespan is like over 20 years. It will take as many as possible until it’s death. Their will be countless new discoveries. No one really knows the limit because no one knows how long it will survive.

      It will take thousands of images and will operate for over 20 years (approximately)!
