Marty Robbins should be in the rock n roll hall of fame. He wrote many songs that influenced rock n roll. "Girl from North Country" is one of my favorite Bob songs. I love it, but I like Marty's "Girl from Spanish Town" more.

Why is the verse about “her hair hanging long” cut? That is the most emotional part (along with “coat so warm”) of the lyrics to me: the speaker still vividly feels their physical desire for her. And men (like Mr. Dylan) have always cherished long hair on women. It’s so simple and primal that that is how he “remembers her best.” Basically, the speaker wants to hear that she has not changed - that his memory of the past still exists.

good cover,,, great song,,,although i believe the best cover of this was by Chris & Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes at the Newport festival in '08. they opened up with this song in an acoustic setting before the rest of the band came on stage. this is one of the few songs that Dylan wrote that everyone that covered it did so better then he did,,,Ha!
