Thanks for posting this... I was at Railfest '98, this brings back memories! Conrail was an example of something you don't see anymore... a railroad that cares about its public image. First-class!! A side-note: notice the yellow tape on the handrails of #6373. That was put there by a Conrail employee after he caught us exploring the cab.. LOL!
Thanks for the video Dave. Nice to see the shop. I think I was there that year, but it was a spur of the moment trip with friends and I didn't have a camera with me....
interesting! Btw I noticed on your video of the jordan spreader with the MACs. I might be heading up to the slope this weekend to get some action, pretty cool stuff!
now that was a great video. to bad they don't do them tours anymore. railfest has really gone down hill the past few years but I still go every year! I missed going into the shops though I started railfest in 2003.
6:11 Interesting Ferromex unit. What a surprise! They let you on board 2574. Now its the only unit left in that paint for the SD70's.. And a tour of an SD70MAC, wow! To top it off, the Conrail E8A
At 7:05 CR #2574, I just saw that engine over 10 years later, at Railfest 2009, at the Gallitzin Tunnels, still in Conrail blue. It was the last of its type still in Conrail Paint, and as I type this, it no longer is still in beautiful blue.
@NSHorseheadSD70, the SD70 with number 2574 is also a sign of what's coming....since that unit is numbered into NS's numbering system. I like NS, don't get me wrong, but somehow the ex PRR seemed like it should always be Conrail.

The "NYC" and NS hoppers really are a premonition of things to come. Thanks for uploading this, Dave.
Just a fantastic video. This truly a view no one can see in public anymore
