Scenes From Dundee 1980

  • I believe Leland Kindred shot this video in 1980. Most is at Lowell Bleachery, later called Griffin Finishing Plant. Leland was shooting video to make a production tape about Dundee Mills. These are scenes he used in that production.

    I'm only 30 years old and it makes me sad to see all of the Mills closed in my home town. my grandfather worked in holan mill his whole life.

      I think Holan was where they built bodies for trucks. Thankfully we do still have 1888 Mills that makes terry cloth here in Griffin. It was started mainly by a group of former Dundee people when Springs bought Dundee. 1888 was the year that Dundee was started. The name back then was Kincaid but change to Dundee Mills in 1952. Dundee had been a product line they sold. The name came from the founder Kincaid's home town of Dundee, Scotland.

      @@dbaugh1805 I had Dundee towels that lasted over 10 years. Most of my Mothers family retired from Dundee. (Killingsworth)
