  • Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are two men with the same mission: They say they want to make their countries "great again.” Trump was Moscow’s preferred candidate in the 2016 US election. But now, the Kremlin may be having second thoughts.
Donald Trump was elected to the US presidency on 9 November 2016, defeating Hillary Clinton, who was anything but popular with the Russian government. Yet a short time later, after relations between the two countries had become as bad as they’d been since the Cold War, Moscow may have been changing its mind. The relationship has been dogged by scrutiny in the US, in particular the Mueller investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential poll.
How will Russian-US relations develop now? What deals can Moscow offer to Trump, who thrives on bluster, bluff and berating opponents? And how does that square with Putin’s ambitions to make Russia a global superpower again?
This documentary examines the ebb and flow of Russian-US relations and the personal ties between the two presidents. Politicians, insiders and experts discuss what the two men have in common and the limits of cooperation between them. The filmmakers also talk to people such as the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Duma, Piotr Tolstoi. Journalists Evgeniya Albaz and Mikhail Sygar and Kremlin mastermind Sergei Karaganov round out the Russian perspective on the relationship between the two men and their countries.

I think Putin's great mistake is to think Russia needs to be feared to be powerful. Russia is an impressive country with revered realizations in arts and sciences even before the USSR. Mendeleev and Kolmogorov are some examples. If you don't know who the second one is, google him. He was the guy who formalized a branch of mathematics called Statistics - and that's just one of his contributions. Peoples and persons, we all have strengths and weaknesses ... the problem is that not rarely we end up seeing things the wrong way.

Russia has made innumerable mistakes over the decades and has never come anywhere near the potential that the country has. China has been much much smarter for the past 3-4 decades and is on the verge of perhaps overtaking the USA as maybe the leading world power.....economically and competitive militarily. Both the USA and Russia have squandered untold trillions of dollars and resources on useless wars, conflicts, and attempts to impose their views on many other countries. China on the other hand has avoided massive and wasteful military costs and instead has focused on economic progress and influencing the world via economic influence. For example their belt and road program and diversifying economic and trade partners. Unless both the USA and Russia "wise up" in the future, they will almost certainly be overtaken and relegated to "has been's" by the Chinese.

About 34 minutes in, the documentary gets an important point WRONG... The Mueller Report did find evidence of Trump's campaign cooperated with Russians but the Trump campaign did a sufficient job of covering up to prevent a prosecution. The Report also concluded that if Mueller had been able to clear Trump of all wrong doing, he would have done so and finally, the entire second part of the report outlined twelve specific cases of OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, which Mueller concluded he could not prosecute because the President of the US is protected from CRIMINAL PROSECUTION while in office, per some old DOJ memo ginned up to keep George Bush, Senior out of Prison for Iran Contra. Before the report was made public, both Trump and William Barr LIED about the conclusions, claiming total exoneration, but the OPPOSITE was true.

What I understand from all this as a resident of Russia: Democracy in America is so strong that the President of the United States can do nothing to peacefully resolve the security clash between Russia and Nato, because he is afraid of impeachment. In fact, the country was not run by Trump, but by a bunch of hysterical people who made a fuss about anything they came up with. It seems that it really is impossible to agree with this circus and Russia will have to solve the contradictions by force.

It's like it has to define itself by its enemies. Any sane person would prefer a more friendly relationship but its hard to be friendly when it keeps indulging in aggressive behavior. The people could be starving and still convinced that Putins policies has made them great. The difference between the Warsaw pact and Nato was that membership of Nato is voluntary.

Russian citizens aren't responsible for what their government does just like we aren't responsible for what Biden does. How would you feel if we were sanctioned from all other countries because of Biden's carelessness with both this situation and with Afghanistan and all of us citizens had no access to our own money and started suffering the same issues Russian citizens are facing? War has been between governments for a long time. There is no reason to wish such awful thoughts on the innocent people that suffer those consequences. @@mattpalumbo5249 A world war wouldn't necessarily start with a declaration. WWII started when war was declared on Germany because it failed to meet the conditions for peace to prevail. But there had been military operations by Hitler's military prior to that declaration. For example, the 'Sudeten Crisis' started in 1936 and came to a head in 1938 with the Sudetenland's annexation.. Then, in the same year, there was the annexation of Austria, known as the Anschluß.
I am of the firm belief that if Ukraine falls to the Russians, Putin would not be satisfied with taking over the Ukraine only. He will then be emboldened and will wish to move onto other countries that used to belong to the once mighty Soviet Union. Example, the Baltic states and possibly even Poland and Hungary.
Putin is a man with an insatiable appetite for power and grandeur. He is megalomaniacal. He has stated clearly that the collapse of the Soviet Union was "the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the [twentieth] century." When leaders make statements like this, we should believe them. They tell us what is going on in their heads!
This is why I say that WWIII may have already begun. I am not being alarmist; rather, I am being realistic. There was a DW News report only today that it is looking increasingly likely that Belarus is going to be drawn into this Russo-Ukrainian war. And if that happens which, given the politics between Belarus and Russia, between Lukaschenko and Putin, which country will be next to be dragged into the conflict?
We are living through very perilous and scary times.

its a good story but I wouldn't call it a documentary based on truth - The US Dept of Justice has charged Hillary Clinton and her campaign with making up the Trump Russia collusion - her lawyer has already been indicted. There will be more indictments to come. There will be criminal charges. Trump is now suing Hilary Clinton. I imagine others who lied about him will be a target of his also , like the 90% Democrat media, I imagine he will go after and sue those that lied to destroy his reputation

Germany funded Putin's aggression and even now (20/2/2022) block serious sanctions against Russian aggressor and doesn't provide defensive weapons to Ukraine. Germany built Nordstream 1 and 2 which Trump put sanctions on. Germany is the most pro-Putin country in the West. Shame on Germany for its lies!

Trump and Putin both have what's called- Hubris Syndrome-The key concept
is that hubris syndrome is a disorder of the possession of power,
particularly power which has been associated with overwhelming success,
held for a period of years and with minimal constraint on the leader.
