- Welcome back, everyone. Saints Row 2's map is littered with interesting places to explore, big and small. Volition went the extra mile to make sure their world was as deep as possible. In this video we take a look at FOUR locations that I find interesting. Some are obvious, and some are secrets. All have little easter eggs here and there.

Saints Row 2 is The Best Game of The Entire Franchise

I really love the first 2 saints row games since they were grounded more than later games but also had a lot of the fun that is core to the saints row games that games like GTA don't have since they try to be a lot more of a realistic approach to their world.

I'm happy people are still giving this game the recognition it deserves, there's so much detail and effort that was put into this game, and the fact there are still unsolved mysteries and discoveries, aged like fine wine 15 years later really shows how fantastic this game is. This is my favorite open-world crime game of all time, I love GTA games too, but Saints Row 2 borrowed some of the aspects they did and made it better. It wasn't just another "GTA clone", it also had a lot of things that made it distinct from the GTA series.
I'm told GTA borrowed right back, SR2 was one of the first open world games to have satnav, which is now seen in the GTA games since

@@Shindai Yeah GTA V and GTA Online, copied some of what Saints Row 2 and The Third were doing, such as blowing up the trailers in a trailer park, falling out of a flying vehicle/aliens, and the mk2 oppressor which copied the Stag Specter from Saints Row The Third.
@@A.-ow4ki don't forget the weapon wheel and crib customization in gta online, also checkpoints and replaying missions which was added in GTA 4 TBOGT after SR2

Saints row 1 and 2, great classic games, grew up playing them alongside gta.
My favorite areas are
• Mall
• Underground of old Stilwater
• Nuclear power plant
• Volition island
Hope Saints Row 2 gets a remaster one day

Orginal game is a huge mess so unlikely wont haplen.
But port could happen being done by Double Eleven who did RDR.
Rockstar said it would be impossible to port it because it's a total mess but it isn't when someone better did than them.

Steelport was dull in comparison, and it wasn’t nearly as detailed. It really is a shame.
Absolutely bizarre that they replaced a diverse urban area that had wildly different communities with a homogenous city where every street feels the same
Because they made Steelport into combination of Detroit and Chicago.
They did on purpose to people see the issue with those 2 cities.
It's bland and awful.
Even Los Angeles has same issue.
Florida is at least bit more interesting than California and NY.

I can't tell you how many times I've played this game way back in the day, when it finally got made backwards compatible for the xbox one I got it instantly and now I'm on another playthrough. This game is super nostalgic and it's easy to miss details like this, I'm glad you've taken the time to chill and just acknowledge the beauty that Still water has to offer.

That’s a cool detail!
It's an interesting note that Rockstar would likely lock that underground location. GTAV is actually full of cool interiors, but you're not allowed to play around in any of them, they're just backdrops for linear shootout missions.
That’s one of the things that always bugs me about GTA. The interior locations you could travel in in GTA IV were some of my favorite places.
Saints Row 2 has always been the second best thing for me after gta 🎉

Me and friend would make our character look like a homeless guy, we had this spot called “Hobo square” and just mess around for hours😂 brilliant game
fyi that ain't the last time you'll see that prison because there's another mission that takes you back there to save a friend,and the best part is,they even made a hidden enterance to the jail which makes them 3 in total
man i wish this game had a remaster,RIP Volition :(
9:24 The reboot could've benefited more if it had a college location since the goal for the game was to pay off their student loans.
Nice video, it's always nice to see appreciation for how detailed Stilwater is in this game! I sometimes come back to the game just to roam around the city and explore it thoroughly!
I just wanted to note that the CD locations that you showcased in the video are exclusive to the Gentlement of the Row mod; in the original game the CDs are in different locations. It's just something that caught my attention while watching the video😆
My favorite location... The science museum, the underground area of purgatory, and the airport.
Most mundane area I love to explore is the factory district. There honestly isn't much but it really fleshes out Stilwater as a map.
I also love that most mission locations are accessible to you before and after said mission. It makes me feel like I'm the main character of a game but not Stilwater, things exist regardless of the plot. Like the Loa dust labs. If i go beforehand then it hits me that narratively the SoS are in operation right here and right now. When it's destroyed and you can't return again that's the narrative of the story, as players we are effecting our environment. Same with the steel drum player, once the SOS are cleared out no more of that npc anywhere. I love details like that.

Huge love for this game
The prison lockers are also used for the intro cutscene for the arena fight club activity.
You can even see dust particles, and the knit of fabric. Freaking love the amount of details they put into this game. Like a shadow actually changing with the day!
There are so many things that i see and I go "they didn't have to do this but they did" that I absolutely love. Like with the prison, they added all of those rooms and ways to get into different areas that most players won't even think of going into. They could've just blocked the area off (unless it was for a mission but had to cut it).
And sadly after w they began to stop at the first half, "we don't have to do this so we won't." I didn't know that a day and night cycle was considered a luxury.
Saint's Row 2 has been one of my favorite games since it launched. I thought maybe it was just my nostalgia putting it on a pedestal, but I replayed it recently. It really is just as whacky and great as I remembered.
I miss the Volition that left their maps THIS open.
ACG would be proud. I'm loving your version of a WTW. Walking The Walk. I enjoy these type of videos. No real gameplay, just walking around or exploring. ☺️
I always liked that Saints Row was a little friendlier to the idea of letting players into areas from missions or not used at all than GTA tends to be.
Should so a deep dive into the mall. My mind was blown the first time I found it.
The fact will never have this experience again is insane. The memories of riding around going apeshit listening to the badass metalcore soundtrack. What a time!
Saint's Row 2's world is so fun to explore, so much hidden detail that you never visit in the story.

The Robot House physically resembles the Animal House building used in the original 1978 movie.
This game and gta 4 were my favourite games growing up still play them every now and again
Whether or not you like the new game or Third or SR4, I don't think Saints Row has ever really had a bad gameworld. There's always something there worth exploring.
The closest thing to a really disappointing environment for me was Gat Outta Hell, which had a cool map but no radio stations, and all the NPCs have the same model.

The nice house on the prison island could be the warden's house. Maybe he's just so dedicated to his job that he lives right by his workplace.
It’s a shame we will never see another good Saints Row game like 1 & 2 again.

@MohammadAVGN1 Yes, one of the most creepy glitches I've ever seen in a game that can destroy your physical copy. Imagine playing SR2 for the first time as a kid, in the middle of the night by yourself, with all the lights off and that freezer suddenly appears, and your whole console shuts off.

Go check out 'mrsaintsgodzilla' he literally put out another vid on the freezer just the other day, it's well worth the watch as he is super passionate about saints row

saints row 1&2 might be my favorite games of all time even though I loved sr3 and that was the first one if the series I played for some reason playing 1&2 after felt like an upgrade even though they were made years before I think my SR and GTA ranking would go

Saints row 2022 is the worst watch dogs in the true crime series.
Even after I finished the story Saints row 2 I still play the game to find new things and finish missing activities.
I remember the spot at the cemetary at night where you can hear someone watching horror where guy killing someone with paper cutter... i think it was a movie 😅
SR2 is my favorite and the best one. Most people seem to love The Third, it is a great game, but 2 is just so much better. I would’ve loved to see a remaster, but sadly I don’t think we will

Fun fact there's actually guns in that Armory at the start of the game I'm pretty sure you can get satchel charges and a rifle

In the armory if you go inside at the start of the game i came across a shotgun and an ar stacked on the wall, but thats the only other time i ever see weapons in there
Armory is stocked during the prison break at the opening but every time you return it is empty

This video was made entirely with a first-person & no-HUD patch for the PC version. So everything you see was done in first-person mode with a controller!
Had they stick to the original and improved Saint row 2 with better graphic in Saint row 3, could’ve won game of the year

People need to stop acting like Saints Row is a GTA clone. Its not. Its a GTA PARODY.
Comparing it to GTA is like comparing 300 to Meet The Spartans. Theyre not meant to be compared. One is an original, and one is specifically meant to be satire
They are extremely comparable though, as are 300 and Meet the Spartans.
In order to parody something you must first copy it, right? That’s literally how it works. Satire requires you to mimic the source material. You disproved your own point, there.

@@CaptainGlack I would argue that parody is specifically not mimicry because it changes the subject material. There is nothing actually original about GTA. If you want to use that logic, then Vice City is just a copy of Miami Vice, and Miami Vice is just a copy of American Gangster, and American Gangster is just a copy of... Etc
Mimicry means pure imitation, saints row doesn't purely imitate, it changes the subject material a lot. And GTA lacks the direct politicality of gangs/factions that exists in SR. The way the world works and the attitudes of the characters are drastically different. GTA characters are mortal and fearing; SR characters are extremely powerful and laugh at death. Even Trevor has more pain and fear than Johnny Gat ever will. They have different environments, and are set in different fictional cities (in respect to their real life counterparts)

It really is a shame that the pc port is so bad. I really want to play this game again since it's been ages but I don't have a ps3 or xbox 360. I only have a ps4 and a pc. Maybe I'll get a used ps3 if I find one for cheap because this game is absolutely worth it. It was my favourite game as a kid and I still remember how zombie uprising gave me nightmares 😂
I don't remember ANY of these locations. You said 'you start in the prison'. I don't even remember the prison ! It almost makes me want to reinstall it via GOG. But the graphics look SO dated.

It’s the “Gentlemen of the Row” mod that essentially makes SR2 playable on PC. It was made by modder and developer, the late Mike Watson (IdolNinja) as well as the Saints Row community as a kind of a passion project to get the game in the best possible state on PC.
It also comes with a bunch of other extra stuff, the wings is one of those things. It’s been so long I forget what was added!

It’s actually just a first person mod with the HUD removed for the PC version! I use Gentlemen of the Row.
Saints row 2 is by far the best saints row it's a shame it runs like ass on PC
This game deserved a remaster I hate that the original developers felt defeated by Rockstar and gave up on it hence the new saints row game by new developers 🫤
