Love how you kept on randomly laughing as you were making these like you were proper excited about it 😄
Lol, it’s probably more likely that I said something dumb that I had to edit out 🤦🏻♂️
Coriander is called cilantro in the western hemisphere because it wasn't widely used in North America until well after colonization, so when it did make its way here, it came up from Latin America and we adopted the Spanish word for it, which is cilantro.
Definitely loving these longer format videos!
Thank you. Took me ages to edit, so will try and keep the next one a bit shorter, at least until I get a bit faster on the edit 🙏🏼
Ooh, the Bloody Mary. I’m more of a Bloody Caesar-type guy, though... All I can say is that one can never over-garnish a Bloody Mary.
The Bloody Caesar was not bad. I’m gonna try making my own clamato 👍🏻
My end-of-the-day pick-me-up, watching the video, is so relaxing. Thank you!
Loved to see your take on an old fashioned. I personally love a Manhattan, but that's a pretty straight forward drink 🖤
I’d happily do an old fashioned vid. I think my method might upset a few people though 😬 But it’s good 👍🏼
Looks delicious. Definitely gonna try that out . Cheers🍹
My good, you made me love cocktails since covid start and thank you for that! Always on a whole another level!! Thanks 🙏 for the videos! Saludos desde Colombia! 🇨🇴
Come New Year's Day, your recipe and the Bloody Caesar look like perfect drinks to start my year off on the right foot.
Brilliant. Has been a highlight of lockdown down here in Sydney. I’ve shared this video with everyone including a random stranger one morning whilst queuing for pastries … made your mix added to homemade tomato juice and homemade fermented chilli sauce … Godlike. One mate said it took him back to Qantas business class lounge … thank you !
I´ve got to confess that it´s just hard to know on what to comment on your videos... the cocktail, the history, the lore, the objects you have at this place and the place you shoot these videos... it´s a huge fun and entertainment watch all of your videos. Thanks a lot !
Wow - your blend sounds perfect - WILL BE MAKING!
Love your version!!!
Really thoroughly enjoyed this clip. Last night watching this I realized that in the course of 10 years (more or less) of cocktails and drinks, I've probably made the BM twice. Thrice, tops! Moreover, I haven't made it as a video myself exactly for the reasons you so well put; everybody knows _THEY_ have the best recipe and I feel so pressured making the BM as a clip myself because
1. I haven't had enough of them to claim any proper opinion of the drink
2. I don't have a solid recipe
3. The twists/tweaks/personal "best recipes" all over the internet and world (kinda goes back to #2)
It's like I _would want_ to try out your own "best" recipe but if it turns out I don't like it after all...? GOSH THE PROBLEMS!
Love a good bloody Mary! I can tell how much you love one too 😊 really enjoy your series
My take on this drink is to substitute the vodka for a smoky mezcal and a dash of garlic schnapps (it's made in a small town near my place). Your premix trick is absolutely great and I use almost the same herbs/veggies but I add some tamari soy sauce to the mix.
Anyway, great job as always, still one of the best cocktail channel around :) . Cheers my friend !
This was well worth trying. this is my new favorite batch for bloody Mary’s.
Your mix sounds amazing and I have to do this!! Everything I love. I made a basic tomato juice mix before I watched your video. Salt, spicy, citrus, as you say, umami is a very descriptive word for full on taste experience. Loved this video.
I had many bloody mary’s in my life, i actually get drunk to this. Not sure what you guys are about because hangover cure is water for me. I decided to try your version, prepared it a few days ago and man you win this is the best bloodiest mary I had!
Yes please do a hangover cure cocktail video 👌
I love his series. I have a few that love the Bloody Cesar. I am more traditional personally. I am certainly giving your method a go. I can see why you would need to make a big batch at the bar. Cheers brother!
It does make life easy when you’ve got a bottle of the premix to hand, and it is genuinely delicious 🤤
Mhmmm, I can almost taste that! Going to have to give it a go. Cheers 👍
It is really good, even if I say so myself 🤤
I just did my mix to keep it simple with a citric acid solution, powdered kimchi and soy sauce...the kimchi has some sesame seeds and I go for fino sherry as a base to make it lighter and I’m enjoying it!
Please do a hangover drink video! That would be great for my alcoholic friends... yea... definitely not me...
😂 ok, I’ll do it for your “friend”
wow u went beyond with this one,. looks really good. I am a bloody mary junkie and my favorite ingredient is a moonshine pickle.
Great vid brother
I appreciate this channel
I really have to try my hand at making one of these.
The Caesar is the classic Canadian national drink. Locally we have craft tomato 🍅 and clam juice mixes that are thicker and more savoury then the main stream Clamato. Does elevate it. Great video! Will try your recipe.
1000% on the hangover cure edition!
Cheers from Tasmania, Australia
Bloody nice video mate !😃
Thanks very much for sharing 👌👌🙏🙏
I'm enjoying the spotlight series...great idea! Being that summer is upon us, how about a spotlight on the mojito? How do you take it to the next level?
the pre made home brew bloody is the best thing I have ever tasted. addictive. so much depth of flavour it's just not fair on the others.
Quality as always. 👍
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow I need to try that infused worcestershire that is an awesome idea!
I actually like to use a 50/50 mix of Clamato and low sodium V8 in my bloody mary's.
I also find that a couple pinches of ancho chili powder calms down the acidity of the drink a bit and makes a nice balance
Where can I find out what measurements you put into the Kilner jar? This recipe looks amazing!
It's great how you acknowledge the extensive possibilities and known variations. It's an amazing cocktail even in its simplest form although, I'm currently looking to improve my version. V8 is a nice substitute for ordinary tomato juice. Smoother and extra veggies, which must be a good thing. I found Frank's Red Hot sauce to taste fuller than Tobasco (which I love) and if you distil your Vodka to around 70 volume, you get less water and a fuller flavoured experience
Not so much a hair of the dog video but wouldn’t mind a breakfast/ brunch cocktail roundup. Not just mimosa though but old school morning drinks: Ramos, bourbon milk punch etc
Oooh nice, I’ll look into it 👍🏼
I’m going to try your premix, sounds amazing. I love Tajin on the rim as well, but use 1oz of a good blanco tequila and 1oz Absolut Cilantro vodka in my Bloody Mary/ Marias
Sounds awesome 👍🏼
@@RuairiGilles it IS
Great job 👍🏻
Thank you 🙏🏼
I wonder if you could throw some fish sauce in your Bloody Mary mix to emulate the clam sauce that people seem to like from the Clamato. Without giving up the texture / depth of a quality tomato juice that the Clamato seems to sacrifice on. I’ve never tasted clam sauce straight so I don’t know how similar it is to fish sauce, but I might throw a few dashes in when I make your mix and see how it does
definately a worthy try would be beetroot juice. not done this in fact never had a bloody mary but beetroot juice in place of tomato with the other ingrediants just seems obvious to me as a chef and beetroot lover
Here in Canada, we tend to prefer the Ceasar. Clam nectar may sound a bit nasty, but it works. Unfortunately, Clamato is loaded with MSG...
That’s what gave it that brothy flavour I guess. I’ll look out for the clam nectar, or maybe I’ll try making my own 🤔
nice presentation. so, how long will that mix you made last in the fridge/freezer?
Well done....
Thank you 🙏🏼
Making a batch tomorrow- will let you know!
Made a batch and after two days of steeping it was ideal. Recommended.
Yes please! Hangover cocktails I
I'm going to try this method, and keep some pre-mix for bloody Mary's in my bar. It will definitely cut out the majority of the mixing when I have thirsty guests over
That looks bloody brilliant, how long would your special mix keep in the fridge, and where the hell do you horseradish root from?
great stuff.....to be honest, I hate bloody mary's, but your version is inspirational and so are you mate...I'll give it a go.
My mouth is watering...
Edit: and some good laughs at the end.
Yum!
Off to the store for ingredients!
Yes 👏
Do a hangover cures video please 🙏
On it 👍🏼
Had a tequila bloody Mary recently. Delicious, the smoky notes from the tequila just went so well with the spice and tomato
That's what I love about Bloody Mary, that taste. I don't know how you explain it, but you did it sublime.
Hi there, just wondering about the shelf life of the ‘pre-mix’ and also how long for the infusion? 24hrs? I work in a busy bar and this would be a real hit. Also how many ml in the kiln jar you used? so I know how much to make a bigger batch 🤣 many thanks!
I wouldn’t want to give an official “use by” time, but I’ve had bottles of the premix for up to 6 weeks. As long as you strain the fresh ingredients out and your containers are sterile, the Worcestershire Sauce has a very long shelf life.
I think my jar was 500ml but for bars, try and get the 4ltr Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce bottles, pour some sauce out and make it right in the bottle. I’d go full bunch of coriander and basil, whole head of garlic, 4 or 5 chillies (unless they’re crazy hot), whole cucumber, 4 to 6 celery, sticks 2 lemons, a few good pinch’s of salt & pepper.
The infusion depends on how intense you want the flavour, and how fine you chop the ingredients. I’d go at least 24hrs and just try some, if you want it more intense, leave another day and so on. You can always add lemon juice to balance or more chilli if you need more heat. Good luck 👍🏼
@@RuairiGilles Thank you so much for your help! :)
Hangover cure video, please! Much needed!
Let me just pause there and say > Yes, we want a hair-of-the-dog style compilation.
"You know me, I like to keep it simple." - Really, mate? Sounds pretty damn great tho, I need to try it.
How long's that mix gonna keep in the fridge?
I meant simple to serve 😂
hi Ruairi
long time watcher, first-time commenter
I have one burning question: could I substitute the horseradish with white icicle radish for the mix? if not, what could I substitute it with?
(horseradish does not exist in my city)
Its kinda weird but Ive been using either cocktail sauce or wasabi. Both have horseradish as a main ingredient
How long will the mix ( 13:42 ) last in the fridge?
I think your Worcestershire mix would make a brilliant Michelada!
just after 8:55 he goes into pure estuarian gibberish for a moment.
I thinks it's time to have whisky cocktail volume 3 episode or a subscriber coktail submission episode :)
Defo on the new whisky vid.
We need a few more entries to do a subscriber episode, so get your entry in 😉
I would love to find out what those glasses are.
Just ran across this video. I use V8 Spicy. And fresh horseradish root. But other ingredients are basically the same.
I have never made or had a Bloody Mary...that may change now!
Here in Wisconsin we call the Caesar the "Clamdigger." 😂
Just made one with 8 Oz. Vodka. If you only wanna have 1 drink for the evening it's a good idea to put 8 oz in it.
Let’s see the top 5 hangover cures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you could use a little something extra, I might encourage you to try what my bar manager taught me. Add a few dashes of Angostura ;) Bonus: customers always ask for a second because they're trying to find out why it tastes different
hangover cure vid!!
Actually we call the leafy part cilantro and the seeds coriander different parts of the plant different uses.
Tajin! So good with this. Not to bad with a Johnny Silver hand too for a rim.
Hair of the dog, please. I know I will draw on it in the near future, haha
👍
Add some cumin seeds ( ground of course it will lend it a tex Mex Flav.)
I prefer the "vampiro" (w/ mezcal) or "bloody Maria" (w/ tequila) but I'd be lying if I said the red snapper wasn't a very close second.
Coriander is the seed. Cilantro is the leaf.
if you can add cilantro to something, add it, don't ask, just add
DUDE. No need to stir a bloody caesar. Build it in a 12oz glass (ice, 1.5oz vodka, a dash of lemon, 5-6 shakes worcestershire, a dash of pickle brine, a pinch of fresh grated horseradish, then all the way to the top with Clamato) and top fresh black pepper, a celery salt rim, and whatever other garnish you want. That's it, and it's enough.
shouldnt the celery ideally have leaves?
If you want. I can live without the celery all together to be honest 👍🏻
@@RuairiGilles maybe this is why you don't like it so much?
I use a smokey whisky calling it “Mary ; Queen of Scots” (Teachers scotch)
Juno say kwah
Never seen white celery.
On my channel you can see how to make homemade alcohol
You need cocktail pickles and olives and use v8 not clamoto
Hmmm, no I don’t.
Cilantro is Spanish and since we border Mexico 🤷🏻♂️
Makes sense, thanks 🙏🏼
bugger! I'm 666 in the likes!
How about a little more vodka as part of that top off? Not paying for “extra” juice mate…
You lost me at clamato
ok, first of all wrong glass, that tall thing is a nightmare on a table waiting to get knocked over...use a beer mug or rocks glass
Next, salt the rim of the glass, use lime, not lemon...finally top it up with some good beer
cheers
Oh right thank you soooooo much! Here you go everyone, THIS is the definitive and ONLY way to make a Bloody Mary, please disregard my video and make it this way instead. And don't forget, get rid of all your highball glasses and coups and replace every glass in your home or bar for beer mugs, because any other type of glass is guaranteed to get knocked over! Thanks Andre, you're the best!
Oh please you have talked for 5 minutes or more. I don’t understand a thing you said.
Whitest celery I have ever seen
Oh my God! Five minutes into the video and still no Bloody Mary. Start the video at 6:32 to skip the unnecessary bull stuff.
Too long winded
Wayyyyyy too much talking.
YOU A LITTLE LONG WINDED
