Fascinating! I've been collecting the haplogroups of my family tree based on DNA matches on 23andMe, so it'll be interesting to look up the different Y-DNA for various ancestors.
FTDNA had a blog post a month ago (Mar 2023) explaining recent discoveries about Beethoven's Y-DNA made in concert with researchers from Cambridge University. Using known samples of his hair, they were able to conclude that he's not a Y-DNA descendant of Aert van Beethoven and that there was a male-line break in his family. It's pretty interesting and explains why Aert van Beethoven is showing up in the notable connections distinct from Ludwig.
Fabulous video and a very useful website. This video is a must for anyone who knows their Y-DNA haplogroup and wants to find out more about it. I got my Y-DNA result as part of a Living DNA test, which gave me a fairly specific and recent haplogroup dating back to about 1800 BCE.
You may be able to get a more precise Y / mtDNA Haplogroup by super-kitting your Ancestry, 23AndMe, and LivingDNA files, then submitting the super kit, or playing with some scripts. As the companies all poll a different subset of Y-DNA and mtDNA SNPs, combining the files will offer more resolution, to some. Though not as precise as a Big-Y of mtDNA full sequence but may offer a new leaf or two, for free, and same day. There's a couple of python scripts around that will merge your various raw files, to create a super-kit (apparently like GEDmatch), and ones that play snap with the set of SNP values that define each Y-DNA / mtDNA halplogroup (can't remember which version of the haplo trees) and a raw SNP file. A few years back managed to go from high level haplogroups that were common to ~ 1:60 of the customers, to lower level groups that were common to 1:6500 (though they obviously hadn't benefited from any super-kitting, and were in the generic buckets). At the time my then FTDNA Y-111 only offered an even more generic R-M269, of most Western European males, also had copies of a couple of Uncle's tests certificates from 2005 and they were showing as the even more generic R1b-M343. The Halpotrees have been tweaked since, so might have a fresh play to see if i'm now something else, and ideally a more exclusive leaf.
My haplogroup (Big Y 700 result) is fairly resent (most likely from my 3rd Great Grandfather born in 1801). As I move back through the previous Haplogroup steps it is a current theory that I am a descendant of Cenel Eoghain, and therefore a most likely descendant of Niall of the Nine Hostages (Niall Noigialloach), High King of Ireland.
I'm R-M222 according to Living DNA but I'm doubtful and sceptical as a university professor had told me Sequences were wrong.. they also had my mt dna as. U 5 something and my mother maternal grandmother and great grandmother are Australian aboriginals .. Kamilaroi peoples living in Australia for 60 thousand years.. no sami of Finland

My question is about the relatively resent discovery of abe lincoln's haplagroup. Can someone with the last name Lee find out which Lee's side they are from? I know that Lincoln's mother's side is not related to the Robert E. Lee's side. But what about the gen. Bradford or gen Charles Lee?
Strange coincidence? My husband has haplogroup R-L2 but has many of the same notable connections that are listed on your results. This is also true for my uncle who is R-M269. How can this be?
Very interesting! My LivingTree DNA haplogroup is T-M70 and the majority tested are from the middle east. Just curious how this ties into my DNA estimates which doesn’t reflect any middle east DNA.
Haplogroup is based on Y-DNA or mtDNA. Ethnicity estimates are based on Autosomal DNA. Probably means that while you may have a Middle Eastern ancestor, it certainly isn't in the last 10 generations.
What I find interesting is that you referred to an "A" Haplogroup as the Adam for mankind, which everyone claims originated in Africa. Yet, over 130K years earlier, you refer to another "A" haplogroup as a Neanderthal divergence, and then another "A" haplogroup over 330K years earlier than that, as a Denisovan divergence. The first obvious question is, "divergence" from what? The second question is, why are Neanderthals only found outside of Africa and mostly in Europe? The third question is, why are Denisovans not found in Africa and mostly in Asia? Something about that just doesn't add up, and you blew right passed these obvious facts without comment. It's also often said that prior to the first "A" haplogroup "Adam", that we evolved from apes, of course without any definitive proof, and that all this occurred in Africa. So what? Did the Neanderthals and Denisovans just suddenly appear out of nowhere? Seeing as how there is no definitive proof linking Apes, Homo Sapiens, Neanderthals, or Denisovans, it would appear that what we assume about evolution has not yet been definitively proven and thus we are limited in any claims as to who we can say we evolved from or how.
My brother tested for me on 23andMe, so I have his paternal haplogroup attached to my profile, even though I'm female. I manage several male cousins' Y-DNA tests on FTDNA as well, but they are maternal cousins. Oddly, my maternal half-brother and one of our maternal male cousins have the same paternal haplogroup, because it's the most common one across Europe, even though they are not related on their fathers' sides at all.
I'll trade you an Adam Sandler and a Ben Affleck for your Charles Darwin. He would look great sitting next to my Rothschild's. :) Also, think you for this video. I had asked some time ago about Y-DNA results being the same code (letter/numbers) or if each site had its own series of numbers/letters (codes) for Y/mt. 🤘
I must say I believe in the young world as the Bible speaks of and so I believe if the dates were more in line with actual history rather than the evolution guess work, it would be more helpful!
Y-chromosomal Adam is not Adam from the bible. It is just a name we gave to a man from around 300,000BC because he is the most recent ancestor that every single male on earth descends from patrilineally.
I find the ancient connections to be the most interesting, though I already knew mine from Y-Full. It was interesting to see my father-in-laws which are much the same as yours.

L2 and M269 would be along the same line (there is no rhyme or reason to the naming convention now).

Your brothers or father will have the YDNA. Or your male cousins or uncles on your father's side.
I found out the Y-DNA of my GG father on my mother's side from his direct male decendents on 23andme.
