They should run a few trains up to Albany-Rensselaer. There was talk about it at one time. Not much more miles than the Montauk branch. If they could pull that off in 2 hours they would get quite a bit of riders.
"We're consistently considered ... late ...." I remember the Golden Age of the Hudson line, before the Spuyten Duyvil catastrophe, when trains were on time and delays were as rare as hen's teeth. I also remember the New Haven line in the late 70s, arriving 20 to 40 minutes late every time I rode. The onboard union-workers, however, are great. However, don't be afraid to tell the slobs to get their feet off the seats.
I remember those days before what happened in Spuyten...The riders were much shorter too. Beacon to GCT was regularly 80 minutes...now it's about 90-95 minutes.
@@splashpont Yeah. "Slob" refers to anyone who puts a shoed foot on the seat. I've seen well-dressed females act as if they are the Queens of England and the empty seat next to me is their footstool. Slobs. If I did the same thing to them, they'd feel the imposition into their personal space.
It would seem logical to extend the line up to New Rochelle to give riders the option of a transfer to the New Haven line.. It would also seem logical to have a station in Queens....hopefully that can happen in the future.
Here's a Harlem Line idea; Eliminate more grade crossings, especially in conjunction with grade crossing eliminations and interchanges along the Bronx River, Taconic, and Saw Mill River Parkways.
Metro North makes me fall asleep comfortably. I think Metro North is great because people can get from Rockland County, Westchester County, and Connecticut straight into New York City to get to work.
Of course, from Rockland County you either have to transfer at Secaucus Junction, or Hoboken and catch PATH train to Manhattan, but hey, if you're up for it ..
Excellent idea on improving Metro-North. Stay tuned for an episode of Dream Fleet where I give an idea on what would make a good rolling stock for both the Metro-North Rail Road and the Long Island Rail Road.
Hey how about doing the same for New York City Transit Employees who like our fellow co-workers on both railroads work tirelessly to move New Yorkers as well.
Maybe there should be new trainsets to replace the diesel trains with tri-powered locomotives, Siemens venture passenger cars with doors for high and low platforms, and a Siemens charger/Venture style cab cars.
What Metro-North and the Long Island Railroad needs is a hybrid electric diesel multiple-unit can run from Grand Central to Waterbury and Danbury Connecticut wassaic & Poughkeepsie and when East Side Access is complete for Long Island Railroad the same dual mode electric multiple unit need to run for Port Jefferson Oyster Bay Greenport Montauk Point since all of them are diesel only destinations with some dual mode locomotives running to those destinations from Grand Central terminal for Metro North but Penn station for Long Island Railroad Examples are Stadler flirt railcolornews.com/2018/06/30/uk-the-very-first-flirt-uk-is-out-bmu-on-transport/ or Alstom www.railvolution.net/railvolution/hors-doeuvres/coradia-polyvalent-dynamic-testing-begins which can be finished in Hornell New york Southern tier Alstom factory since they can fit through 1970s 63rd Street tunnel lower level
@@marbledillon thanks for telling me about this and that wouldn't have meant an underunning 750v dc Third rail & overhead Alstom Coradia polyvalent for MNR but top contact for LIRR with the potential for overhead catenary pantograph install or use a adjustable third rail shoe just like Amtrak P32ACDM & Metro North M8
I am a New Yorker on Staten Island. I have never ridden on Metro-North Railroad. I have only ever ridden on the MTA subways in Manhatten. I don't take Staten Island Railway because there is no real need for me to. If I want to get on one side of the island to the other, I drive. I mostly take the bus if I ever ride on the MTA. I think the buses are really good. And I think the subway trains in Manhatten are ok. But, the stations in Manhatten stink. I mean LITERALLY stink. It smells very bad in the stations. Honestly, if they made the stations cleaner, all of Manhatten would smell much nicer. Plus, the benches are old and made of wood. They need to install better benches made of METAL.
My Dream Locomotive Engineer!!!!!!! Gonna get there God willingly.
MNR > LIRR

Try Amtrak - 10 times a day at 2 1/2 hours.
No that would be Way out of the MTA’s Jurisdiction lol.
@@GABRIELADAWSON Yes there are a lot of political issues. Columbia and Rensselaer would have to pay special taxes, maybe Albany County too.

That’s great what about Long Island Railroad?
rrrglynn sorry. There’s nothing that can be done to save LIRR.
@MTA Bus Faner! what does that mean? They have a lot of riders
@@matthewhernandez8342 having lots of people living on long island =/= good service

Ali Muhammad Andy Byford rides the subway to work, just like how the Metro North president rides the Metro-North

Yes they need to make it out of steel so it can rust

Metro north > Long Island Railroad
😂😂😂😂
Just please run faster trains.
MTA would suck less if it hired more employees and engineers, and less "diversity officers."
This is pure propaganda, the train line sucks. Yes it doesn’t suck as much as LIRR but still sucks bad
