Perhaps the most gifted songwriter we've had in the music industry in the last 10 years! This demo is actually more listenable than the released version. Either way this is a brilliant tune!
honestly, the 2:12 mark reminded me of attack on titan in a way. i know it's childish, but it reminds me of ymir and historia's love. their love deserved a better fate. every single one of lana's songs tell a different story. it's all based on her life, but looking into it, it's like almost like a mirror; no one lived lana's life, but lana's life contains fractions of pain, love, separation, acceptance, happiness, sorrow, etc. no one faced what she faced, but reading into the lines, it's like her pain is ours too. maybe we were on our own once, maybe we questioned life and love too. she's not special for no reason, the entirety of her existence is bittersweet yet so beautiful. she isn't perfect, but all her flaws are stitched together with good intentions. she makes everyone feel like home. she makes reality seem beautiful, yet doesn't divert from the fact that life is most definitely difficult to live - instead she makes that a part of life's never-ending mysteries, the mysteries being what makes life the lovely journey she romanticizes it as. i'm rambling, but honestly, that's the effect this demo has on me.
