Hey Richie, Would you consider posting a vid on the 5th gen and the mods you've chosen? I think it would be interesting to see how you decided what to upgrade and the products you've selected. Lot's of folks are thinking about mods themselves and I think your experience and insight would be interesting. Thanks for the vids! Cheers, Mike
@@jailbreakoverlander hey Ritchie, was told by off grid that I won. Is an iTunes gift card a normal way for your friend to collect shipping costs? Does he normally go through WhatsApp?
I've been using a Motive Power Bleeder for a few years now and like you said, its a game changer. SO much easier bleeding. The Motive system pressurizes the bottle itself with a pump handle instead of your tire or compressed air.
Great tool. I can't wait to see the full walk around detailed new rig video. PS on a side note, if you ever make a sticker of that awesome JailBreak Overlander logo...brother I must have one.
I don't understand or know all of the parts, but had heard of bleeding the breaks before. I was courious. I learned something. I wouldn't attempt this because I don't have enough knowledge on my own. So there's that like you like to say. Anyway, good stuff and yeah, if I had enough faith in what I was doing I would go for this . The using of the tire air pressure is cool to me. It's smart. But then you have to refill that tire to the right point. I don't know if you knew this, but back when automobiles or cars were first being driven, they would carry what we call today, bicycle air pumps. They carried them to air up their tires. Smart, now I carry one, never would likely have thought to do it before.
I found two of those old systems in the garage one transfer’s air from a tire to another tire and one uses a spark plug hole to fill tires with compressed air from the engine running, could use a 5 gallon compressed air can but I see how you’re using your tire as the can and can refill with your electric tire pump 👍 that’s the way to do it , those hand pumps suck
Not being rude but how can you bleed brakes better? If the fluid is clean and no air then it’s done right. Also personally I would remove all old fluid from the master cylinder first
I've been looking for a pressure bleeder for a bit now. The one on the snap on truck costs around 600 dollars. I didn't think I would use it often enough to justify that cost. I have a vacuum bleeder, but sometimes it doesn't work very well. Pressure seems better.
Just ordered a Toyota Kit and a Nissan adapter show quoted $125 to power flush brakes. I have two Toyota and one Nissan this kit is paid for after the 1st one is done!
Pretty sweet setup. I’ve been using a motive bleeder for a couple years. Similar principle, but it has a manual pump to build pressure. Downside to the motive is that it’s a nightmare to clean after use. Hopefully the Speedy is easier. Sweet new rig! Im gonna miss the cruiser, but I have no doubts this one will be a beast as well.
I've had a cheaper version of the one you have got in your video and they are brilliant if you are a one-man mechanic, I use it loads of times on my Landrover, Renault-Dodge truck, and Mercedes van. The one you have got there looks very well made
R, thanks for the video, it's a good tip and they are coincidentally running a sale on the speedi. Any chance you'll post exactly what brake components you used? Looks like powerstop extreme ceramic pads, but what calipers and rotors did you end up with? Let us know how the rotors perform also; you probably already posted on t4r or some other site but help us old timers out with specifics on your videos please. Either way, thanks, you stay frosty and God bless.
That looks fanatstic. But I wonder if the kit comes with alterantive adapters for the master cylinder? My master cylinder cap is not round, it is oval shaped
dont see the need for it. you already had everything you needed to bleed the brakes easily. hose coming off the bleeder into a bottle. Just make sure the hoes goes to the bottom of the bottle, and fill it until the hose is submerged. i also like to put a little grease around the hose and the bleeder to act as a sealant. open the bleed screw. pump the pedal 5 or 10 times, close the bleed screw and youre done.. you can do each wheel in like 5 minutes by yourself.. and with calipers, prefill the caliper before you attach the line. im a mechanic and thats how i do it. can bleed most cars in like 15 20 minutes for all 4 brakes.
