Its been awhile since a song has given me chills, and this one did. I love the realness to their voices. There is no sign of auto tune, and that's pretty damn refreshing for a pop song! This new sound reminds me of The Carpenters.
i really think this is going to be the time where these two incredible girls can't slow down their expressway to mega stardom. i just hope the world really notices just how much they offer and how unique and beautiful they are! they are so humble and loving to their fans, moreso than any other celebs i have seen.

This is definitely different than the type of music they used to do.. gotta admit though I miss when Aly was on Disney. I thought she was one of the better actresses on Disney Channel along with Hilary Duff. I loved her!

Aly Michalka stated in an interview that they like the metaphor hothouse flower because it describes a relationship with a guy that's incredibly difficult, hard to handle and so hard to take care of that it's literally a hothouse flower. (:

I agree that a harmonious style would sound better than singing in unison, but one of the main messages of the music video for this song is how close the two sisters are, how similar they are maybe? Now their unison singing certainly captures this idea. The chorus also has prominent harmonious parts so I guess it could be considered a mix of both styles.
I totally agree. Having two voices singing an entire song in almost all unison kinda makes it sound ... unprofessional. Like it's a sing-a-long instead of a professional recording. That's the main reason I don't like this song, even tho I love the band.

And, if they're gonna sing at the same time, they could have a bit more of a harmony, because them singing at the same time in the same sort of breathy tone, in my opinion, is just a bit creepy.

They're still Aly & AJ to me and I put that in to show that they will always be remembered that way to some fans. 78Violet sucks the personal aspect out of their music. When Prince left his label, they claimed his name (his fuckin birth name his parents gave him!) and he had to call himself The Artist Formerly Known as Prince (TAFKAP). Record labels are dirty.
I think they are doing a fantastic job with the music. Their new music truly shows that they have grown. It's just that the name change, like I said, was desperate. They are sort of changing who they are. They let the pressure get the best of them and changed themselves just for a new image. Aly & AJ is their true name, the one that captures their true selves. They could mature through their music while still being themselves by keeping the name Aly & AJ. Anyways, that's just my opinion :)

In their defence they actually decided on the name change while they were still signed with Hollywood Records and were about to release their 3rd album with them. They stated that they always wanted an actual name for the band but could never come up with one they liked so they just used Aly and Aj. I agree 78Violet doesn't sound as good but it was a decision that was made before cutting all of their ties with Disney
