- In this video, Im sharing a little tutorial on these cute little Thistles, I am starting to see these blooming on my hiking trails., I love them, and they remind me of Winnie the Pooh. I Used an angle brush here, on its side, I also used a *8 round Princeton brush. I love this angle brush as it creates a very nice thin line for these thistles. I also used wet in wet here to blend the greens and the thistle.

Thistles have been considered to be a weed, but they actually have some health benefits, and personally I have always thought they were beautiful. I will definitely be practicing this one. I am also going to try doing dandelions...beautiful painting 😊
I have also thought they were so beautiful and unusual. I was thinking about painting some dandelions as well, they are so cute! I will have to google their health benefits, very interesting and why I love everything in nature!

Im glad, me too. They grow wild on the hiking paths I go on here. They just glow in the morning and so beautiful against all of the lime green hills. I hope you give them a try, they are quite fun to paint too!

Greetings Anni, I did not know that~ Yes give them a try; with the angle brush they are really quite easy. go in with the lighter value first (more water less pigment) then once that dries go in again and use a darker value (more pigment less water) with your quin magenta and violet purple. You will do great. Happy painting friend. I would love to know what other beautiful flowers you have there?

My pleasure Sharon I’m so glad you will give this a try. You can also use tip of your round brush if you do not have an angle brush. For Prussian Blue, mix a little Burnt Sienna into your Ultrmarkne Blue to warm it up a bit.. happy Painting friend!

Hi Debbie, greatly enjoyed this tutorial on Thistles. They are one of my favorite flowers and have been wanting to try planting them. Now I am encouraged to do so. By the way the name of Pooh’s donkey friend is Eeyore. He is my favorite character in the Pooh stories. ❤

Her Etsy account doesn't have any palettes, as it was a commission from me :-) She mostly does little animals, pots, and cups. If you message her she hopefully will get back to you. You wouldn’t believe it, but that tray is the same tray I have had for probably 30 years or more are used in college! it’s broken and not even made anymore, the closest to it I could buy now would be this which I also have.. amzn.to/3RAOOv2 I just can’t bear to seem to throw it away! Oh yeah, they have spikes on the stems and hair-like spikes on the leaves. Beware...wear gloves if you pick them...those spikes sting. Not like cactus but more like painful tingling and itching upon the skin. Just thought you might like to know 😉
That is good to know Mary., in the past i didn't paint the little spikey things, and have never picked one~ I think I will just stay admiring them growing!

The donkey's name is not donkey it's Eeyore
my kids were obsessed with Winnie The Pooh, although, I may have forgotten the name in the video, lol, I do know the name. It was a household word in our home for decades. I hope you give this a try, these are a lot of fun to paint. This was also one of the first videos I created last year when I started, and tone to think about and get used to, remember. Hopefully, now 12 months later I am a bit better :-)
