At first I was like 'Wow! This is something my group would do!' Then I heard the group called the Ladder Day Saints and burst out laughing! That's something else my group would have come up with! 🤣

Was in a WoW TTRPG and our party took cover behind a table against some trolls. Used the table as a shield and battering ram. And we got so many 20's the DM started giving the table extra "power" every time it happened... By the end of the fight it was sentient and had paladin levels, it was named "Elbat" fun times

Our fighter had a +1 trident that could change into any weapon he willed it to be. So when we had a city-wide party and one of the games was to mount one of your friends and "joust" the others with brooms, naturally, we made him will it into a +1 broom.

Best I got was from an adventure I joined where I knew we'd be fighting vampires. Pathfinder had a mundane item "pump can" which was meant to be used for fighting fires. My cleric filled it with holy water and used it to great effect on the hordes of undead.

I saw this appear on my subscription notice. Thought nothing of it. Earlier today while I was at work, I scrolled through my Google Notices when I spotted an article about DND which included using a ladder as a weapon. Immediately this video came up. Finally watched it, and already realized its the same story. Now I'm stoked!

  • @Angeloflight1415_LastelleCrea

The Ladder Day Saints thing, I feel like my old LDS friends would enjoy that word pun.
Also take hate or negativity else where. Cause if you don't like the pun, that's fine. But doesn't mean you have the excuse to ruin someone's day.

    • @DHS222
      @DHS222 Před rokem +2

I am LDS. I have made that pun whenever there's a ladder precent and after hearing that here I popped off. Was not expecting to ever hear the pun anywhere else.

Really early on, our pickle obsessed monk bought some magic beans. We stuck them in a bag of holding for a long time. Eventually, the plot led us to a mountain far north with two adult and one ancient dragon on it. We stealthily ascend the mountain. At the peak we find an old wizard's that disobeys all laws of reality. After exploring it, and maybe starting the end of the world, we decide to leave, but are spotted by the dragons on our way out.
We flee back to the tower and hide until the dragons leave. We really didnt want to fight them and were brainstorming ideas for what we could do to get off the mountain alive. Then our monk remembers the beans. We plant one outside the tower and get a magic campfire. Thinking it was a dud, we plant another. Up from the ground spawns an absolutely massive ancient pyramid on the top of this giant mountain. We hid inside to escape from the dragons.

I once created an artifact for a Mage the Awakening game that would randomly turn an object the player was holding into an animate spider made of that object and composed of the substances that made up that object (anyone who gets the SCP reference gets a cookie).
They picked up a book and I asked them to roll, they failed so the book split into two segments and grew sharp legs and fangs made of paper, and it bit their hand. I told them to roll for Composure, they failed, they threw the book spider at the ceiling and had hallucinations about Grim's fairytales while the rest of the players dealt with their new hissing mascot.

I made a fighter whose weapon of choice was a ladder, no particular reason other than he was in a situation once and hit someone with the nearest possible large object a ladder. It was a done deal, he carried that ladder everywhere and made it foldable and his only weapon. Though he also uses it as a chair when he gets bored.

Our DM gave us what we then called "the lottery hat". It belonged to an NPC and we were supposed to give it back to him, but he didn't show up at the rendez-vous so we said "screw him we keep the artifact".
Every morning, we all pick something from it. Objects contained in it vary from rabdom potions to scrolls and powerful and/or useless objects.
The DM lets us make up items that he then adds to the list if he approves them, which makes the morning pickings exciting as we're looking forward to ither players picking up the items we made up.
Of course, the items disappear after a day, so there isn't too much chaos...
9ne of the items tho is the "chest of Pendragon". It is an ornate chest with draconic symbology. Inside rests a thousand gold pièces woth à dragon on their sides.
We didn't know what it all meant until we spilled it on the floor. When the gold is spilled, the dragon that originally owns the chest is summoned to take back what's theirs.
We are no match to a dragon. So whenever we pick the chest, we keep it carefully sealed, and wait for an opportunity to wreck havoc if need be. Usually we don't get to use it because we're not too much of chaos goblins, but, we got to use it once to create an EFFECTIVE distraction to run away.

The ladder contained a colony of ants with an intelligence score of 30. These creatures lived in a village called Ladderville, and they had great philosophical ANTi-war ANTi-evil philosophies that they followed rigidly by using their great intellect to ensure a better future for all.

Mudane adventure items are the best if creatively used. As a joke for a character i play due to me being creative with mudane alchemiclal items (ie glue or erc) to non-magic items with inexpensive low level magic at use( Ie a 10ft pole, bag of sand, caldrops or etc). This is D&D 3.5 for system use continual flame on a large bag of marbles, boom can toss a marble to see how deep hole is or how long a tunnel is, 10ft pole with hook and chain and glue for hold a marble with continue flame on it.... instict light source with a reach of 10ft or use to see in the darkness.
Mudane items are the best if a creative player know what to do with them. As simple items like using a bag of flower can help reveal a path if a foe walk through it to trying to make a invisible foe visible through non-magical means.
