Yea, that really sucks that korea is obsessed with everything couples and relationships, spending with family will make you appreciate them(if their not toxic) and reflect on yr life and theirs, its a time of happiness and celebration.

Christmas is very much for families and loved on here in America and even as you get older, we still give presents to one another though not as many as when we were children.
i had to tell my daughter Santa won't be able to deliver all the gifts on time this year bc of travel issues from corona (really it's bc mail is all messed up from corona..) and she said "it's okay, i believe in Rudolph!!"

I saved up to buy my mom a camera!! She was so shocked ive never seen her like that😭❤❤ this christmas was my best christmas ever just relaxing and we all really gave thoughtful gift, were very thankful and just enjoyed watching eachother open presents!! Also had a stocking and presents for our 4 bunnies!! Hay treats and mini carrot chew treat❤❤

Americans love two things (at least here in the south): excuses to eat and excuses to give/receive gifts. So we have Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas Breakfast/Dinner, Fourth of July, birthday parties, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Santa...my favorite thing at holidays is seeing people enjoying the gifts I give them and the food I cook.

Maternal instincts are a double edged sword
I mean I grew up poor and still am, but the gift I got out of that was the true meaning of the season and the holiday. Of course I was sad when I was younger because my other distant family and other relatives would get stuff and me and my siblings wouldn’t. However, by the time I was a junior in high school I understood that those presents were just materialistic measures that were filler compared to the loved ones I had around me. Winter is associated with the last stage of life, so during December and January I see it as a reason to be grateful and enjoy the little things that make me who I am. People can come and go, but family is eternal (whether through blood or bonds). I hope the kids who grew up or are growing up like I did realize this for themselves as well. It’s about love and positivity, showing gratitude for life and making the most of what is given to us. We all have different stages in life and different transitions, but the great part about life is that there are other people willing to live it with you. I hope my queer siblings read this and feel loved, because it’s what we need to push through in any condition. I wish you all health and happiness.
