I currently residing in New Delhi due to my job for last 3years. আমি শুধু মুখিয়ে থাকি দুর্গা পুজোতে কলকাতা আসার জন্য। দিল্লিতেও বেশ ভালো ভালো পুজো হয় জানি। But kolkata, home town is an emotion. Pure emotion. প্যান্ডেলের বাইরে বসে বন্ধুদের আড্ডা, late night sitting, lots of street food, বাড়িতে অষ্টমীতে লুচি, পরোটা, পায়েশ, শিমুই আর নবমীতে কষা মাংস, উফফফ ।।।।।

Not only west Bengal. But Durga Puja also celebrate in our Bangladesh. In Durga Puja, many songs are played with loud speaker in temple. I can listen this song free from my house. Many Hindu friends invite me in their house. Sometimes I went to temple to see this puja. Really, the celebration is fantastic. I'm lucky that I'm Bengali

Actually we Mumbaikars can relate these things to a great extend with the Ganeshotsav in Mumbai.

As a bengali person, I always imagined that the closest alternative phenomenon that we bengalis could have to durga puja, would be ganeshutsav. Never been to Mumbai during ganeshutsav( because I would rather be in bengal during that time ). But I've seen videos and movies portraying ganeshutsav and it just looked so similar! Glad something like this exists.

And I always follow that.
I'm Gujarati and we eat vegetarian foods during Navratri. Hindus do eat both vegetarian and non vegetarian food. Some Hindus also sacrifice animals for Gods.

@bhavna nagar # sacrificing goats on the day of navami was a ritual in bengal but nowadays it is considered very cruel so instead of goat some sacrifice fishes like walking catfish or in bengali it is called "magur mach" and some people sacrifice wax gourd, sugarcane, cucumber like things. So don't say something you don't know about and north west India is not the whole India. India is more diverse than you, I, any people can imagine.
