    What I find good about stickerless is that you can be almost 100% sure that if you're buying a stickerless cube, it will turn at least half-decent, while on stickered you may run into unfilleted cubes that require wrist rotations, like the Original Rubik's series. Of course, you always look closely at what you're buying, but it just seems like an interesting little detail to think about. :)

    It would actually be nice to have stickerless cubes reproducing the scheme of stickered cubes with black lines around the pieces. This is the reason why I prefer stickered cubes, the alternance between colors and black (kind of like shadows) make each piece stand out more and you get this really cool 3D aspect like you can really tell each piece is a small cube in itself, which with a stickerless cube is just not possible, it just seems like one big cube. Do you know what I mean?
    Edit: I guess what I wanted to say in a few words is that stickerless cubes visually have a lack of depth which I don’t really like.

    Very happy to hear you discuss the accessibility concerns you're aware of! Custom stickers to address colour blindness is a great accomodation that stickerless cubes can't match. You touched on the feeling of surface materials, and that's relevant for accessibility as well. Sensory sensitivity can make certain textures unbearable, so finding a cube style which doesn't trigger sensitivity can be very important as well! Of course, that will vary greatly from person to person, but personally the consistent texture of a stickerless cube is highly preferable from feeling the edges of the stickers and whatnot.

    I prefer stickered on 3x3, because I love the look. Any bigger cubes, the amount of stickers just makes it not worth it to me, to many that can get damaged, and replacing stickers gets exponentially more annoying. I would probably feel differently if the stickers from SpeedCubeShop weren't as good as they are, so I would still take a stickered 3x3 over a stickerless, given the option.

      Same, although there are various forms of red-green colour blindness. I thought I was protanopic but this video had me looking them up again and I'm more likely deuteranomolous (as are you as it affects about 6% of the male population). I don't find it makes cubing difficult although certain manufacturer's orange shades can be confused with red and cubing under artificial light is quite tough. I've never tried those colour-correcting glasses and wonder what a cube (along with everything else) would look like with them. On the upside, you probably distinguish other shades more easily than people with 'normal' vision - I can see differences between off-whites, for example, that others see as identical. The wiki article on colour blindness is very good so I'll stop regurgitating it...

    Hey J Perm,
    I just wanted to say thank you for uploading and making vids. I found you by learning my 5x5 after having it for like 2 years and not knowing.
    I used be big into cubing 8 years ago. I had a DaYan ZhanChi but i used a beginners method and never got a good time
    I recently got back into it and I bought your J PERM edition RS3 M 2020, it’s amazing compared to my old cube.
    You’ve helped me get back into something i enjoy during a really difficult time in my life with the pandemic, thank you!
    (Hope you see this)

    I actually find my recognition takes longer on stickered puzzles for all cubes except 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7. The reason it doesn't get affected on those three (by my best guess) is because it helps discern which pieces are which part of the center, but as soon as I reach 3x3 stage it gets slower again.

    Flash back to when some people would get sticker less cubes and either dye them black because the sticker less plastic was "softer" or would buy 6 and combine them to make 6 solid colour cubes lmao. I remember a friend and I going at it about if the black zanchi or sticker less zanchi were better because he said the sticker less one had softer plastic lmao.

    I do have an issue with the sicker less in some lighting the yellow and white can look exactly the same. If it was snickered I could just change of the stickers to something with better contrast. That being said any kind of wear on a stickered cube annoys me and I would be constantly changing stickers. So I prefer sickerless cubes

    I like the look of stickered cubes but on bigger cubes such a 5x5 or 6x6 stickerless has the advantage of having the color on a piece on a much larger area, making it easier to see the colors on a piece. I noticed this as I have a stickerless 6x6 and a stickered 5x5. Still, the difference isn't much and you can work your way around it of course; you just have to get used to stickered pieces instead.

    About to try and get into cubing, and ordered a stickered cube with a custom color scheme. Would've preferred a stickerless otherwise, since they feel more 'premium', but the canonical colorscheme doesn''t make sense to me. When you need to at a glance decide between colors, red orange and yellow (and white and yellow don't have great contrast either) aren't good when there are plenty of other colors to choose from.

    Stickerless cubes dont have stickers, but their one drawback is less grip, but you dont have to get stickers.

      @futureshit-glungis7202 Před 3 lety +2

      I dont think they really have less grip, in my experience a stickerless cube has the perfect amount of grip for fingertricks and kind of sliding your finger off of it after a turn if that makes sense. And more times than i would like to admit ive kind of got my finger stuck on the edge of a sticker. Also i really really dislike the feeling of the sticker edges on my fingertips. So yeah its clear what side i am on but i really think it comes down to personal preference and previous experiences
