JD 7920 IVT repair

  • The tractor started rapidly developing metal contamination in hydraulic oil.
    The broken shaft splines are a known issue with this early hydro module and there is no way to buy just a new shaft as there is only listed a whole module in the parts catalogue ($15k). We have managed to remove the shaft and machined it to change the retaining style of the drive gear and save completely healthy hydro...
    While inside, we have replaced all the vital seals and worn-out clutch discs. There were also few different issues found as worn out MFWD housing and shims, worn-out hydraulic pump, bad universal joints, and all the little things that suffered over the last 11000 hours.
    Since the repair, machine have been used on triple mowers and transportation and didn't miss the beat!
    A happy customer makes us happy.

    I like your splitting rail. Nearly looks better than the proper John Deere set up

      They are universal Sparex ones with some modifications. It worked great!

      @@mkmechanical you have only this 5t version? I saw one for lighter load too and im wondering is it good or i shuld buy this 5t.

    What where the symptoms that this was failing? A grinding noise at high speed?

      No noise actually. Just filter plugging with metal

    How early of a model was this a problem, what is the serial number split point where the issue was fixed from happening?

      Don't have SN split. This customer has same machine only few SN digits apart and it's runing great

    What was the problem when driving the tractor? What kind of faults did you recognose?

      No noise or visible symptoms. Only problem was that filters were getting blocked by the metal. If you have this problem, then you will find fine casting paste inside of your filter

      I have some problems with a 7930 IVT, when in stationary neutral (handle between F and R on left hand) tractor moves forward and backwards by itself a few cm, and i can see the km/h on the A display shows about 0,5-1km/h (signal on a speed sensor who should only give siganal when in forward or reverse) Tried to change the solenoid on pti hydro, but no difference. Sometimes messages with blocked oil filter on transmission and hydro calibration fault, i think the hydrostat pump angle is been adjusted by itself, or something broken on servo piston on hydromotor.

      @@ameldal That wouldn't cause it as the drive clutch would be disengaged. I guess there will be warped clutch discs or separator plates
