Great videos. I am at the planning stage of a fiberglass pool and so far I like everything River Pools has to offer. With respect to the return fittings, without exception, everyone seems to be using silicone as the sealing material when they are installed. I have done a fair amount of work on fiberglass boat hulls and always use 3M 5200 for any penetration that I should never have to service. Other than cost, is there any reason that 5200 should not be used on a pool?

Hi Chip Nieman. Appreciate your comment and question. 5200 certainly will do the trick. We just find that 100% silicone works as well. We've used it for years and have never had a fitting seal fail.

Just bought a house in Sept with a fiberglass pool, installed 2yrs ago. I had a diver in pool to repair a leak, we finally determined it was at bottom skimmer/drain, right where PVC penetrated the wall. The silicone seal either was sealed poorly or failed. The diver fixed with an underwater epoxy putty. 2 yrs old, this should not have happened
So I'm a bit skeptical about fiberglass and the fittings. Obviously my experience is limited to this one occurrence, but if I were buying a pool in 5 yrs at another house, i would be leary of fiberglass.

Hi mcsuppok! Understandbly so. We produced a video explaining why leaks happen at that exact point and how our installation methods prevent it from occuring...have a look 👉czcams.com/video/ob4NBnBUmAc/video.html
