Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family when he was 13 years old. His music career began there in 1954, recording at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African-American music to a wider audience. Presley, on rhythm acoustic guitar, and accompanied by lead guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage him for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA Victor single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. Within a year, RCA would sell ten million Presley singles. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, Presley became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll; though his performative style and promotion of the then-marginalized sound of African-Americans led to him being widely considered a threat to the moral well-being of the White American youth.
Having sold over 400 million records worldwide, Presley is recognized as the best-selling solo music artist of all time by Guinness World Records with sales estimated by various sources up to 500 million - 1 billion. He was commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, rhythm & blues, adult contemporary, and gospel. Presley won three Grammy Awards, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame. He holds several records, including the most RIAA-certified gold and platinum albums, the most albums charted on the Billboard 200, the most number-one albums by a solo artist on the UK Albums Chart, and the most number-one singles by any act on the UK Singles Chart. In 2018, Presley was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Presley holds the records for most songs charting in Billboard's top 40 and top 100. Presley's rankings for top ten and number-one hits vary depending on how the double-sided "Hound Dog/Don't Be Cruel" and "Don't/I Beg of You" singles, which precede the inception of Billboard's unified Hot 100 chart, are analyzed. According to Whitburn's analysis, Presley holds the record with 38, tying with Madonna; per Billboard's current assessment, he ranks second with 36. Whitburn and Billboard concur that the Beatles hold the record for most number-one hits with 20, and that Mariah Carey is second with 18. Whitburn has Presley also with 18, and thus tied for second; Billboard has him third with 17. Presley retains the record for cumulative weeks at number one: alone at 80, according to Whitburn and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; tied with Carey at 79, according to Billboard. He holds the record for most number-one singles on the UK chart with 21 and singles reaching the top ten with 76.
As an album artist, Presley is credited by Billboard with the record for the most albums charting in the Billboard 200: 129, far ahead of second-place Frank Sinatra's 82. He also holds the record for the most time spent at number one on the Billboard 200: 67 weeks. In 2015 and 2016, two albums setting Presley's vocals against music by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, If I Can Dream and The Wonder of You, both reached number one in the United Kingdom. This gave him a new record for number-one UK albums by a solo artist with 13, and extended his record for the longest span between number-one albums by anybody-Presley had first topped the British chart in 1956 with his self-titled debut.

one of if not the best documentaries about Elvis i've ever seen. i saw Elvis in person in '70, '71, '74, '75, and '76, and i've seen countless other entertainers over the years and no one has ever, or will ever, come close to the magic of an Elvis show. he truly was the 'greatest show on earth'. God was showing out when he made Elvis Aaron Presley.

@@helennichols6531 it wasn't just his voice. it was him. the magic in an Elvis concert was unreal. the shows in '70 & '74 were in the Astrodome in Houston so the sound wasn't that great. in fact Elvis actually spent his own money reworking the sound system in there but when it's a huge dome stadium you're going to get that unwanted echo effect. not so much on his voice, which was fantastic but the music. the other shows were in concert arenas and yes, it was mesmerizing to say the least. the best way i can say to reproduce it is headphones. good quality headphones with the (my personal favorite) MSG album. songs like 'the impossible dream' left you stunned. sorry for this mini book but when it comes to Elvis i tend to ramble on once started.

Elvis is still ALIVE !! That was NOT Elvis in that casket ! It was a Wax Dummy !
That is what was in the 900 lb Copper Casket along with a battery powered
portable cooling unit to keep the Wax from melting. Everyone that observed
the '' body '' in the coffin noticed that the forehead had '' beads of moisture ''.
Gene Smith, Elvis's 1st cousin, said that the Sideburns had been glued on
and kept coming loose! Gene also stated that one could feel the ''chilled air''
all around the casket that was coming from a cooling unit within the coffin.
When Gene asked Vernon where Elvis was , Vernon replied , '' He's safe,
Don't worry ,He's Upstairs resting. We had to put something on display for
the fans ! '' ELVIS did NOT Die on August 16, 1977 ! NO ONE is actually buried there at the Meditation Garden in back of the Mansion. Only the top layer of sod was removed for the placement of the Bronze Memorial plaques ! Those are just there for the Fans and the Tourists. All of Elvis' family members that have done passed on are buried somewhere else in a undisclosed Private Cemetery and ELVIS IS Very Much STILL ALIVE ! He never really stopped making his music ! He has been recording and making music all this time. He just can't release any of his songs using his real name anymore because of EPE, Inc. He has been using different alias ever since. Elvis Aron Presley is sometimes Jon Burrows and several other various ''alias''. He staged and faked his death with the help and knowledge of Col. Tom Parker, Dr. '' Nick '' , Joe Esposito , and the FBI by doing a '' Body Swap '' with a Terminal Bone Cancer patient Roscoe Scott Holloway of Germantown, TN of whom Dr. Nichopolous had located. After some minor cosmetic surgery they made Roscoe Scott Holloway look like Elvis, a ''double'' which fooled the Paramedics , the hospital personnel and most family members. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, was a U.S. Special Federal Agent that worked undercover in various '' sting operations '' against known members of the SDS Weathermen Underground Terrorist Group. The SDS Weathermen Underground Terrorist Group was responsible for numerous multiple bombings of Police Departments, Federal and State Court Houses and other public buildings during the 1960's and 1970's. Charles William ''Bill'' Ayers was the SDS Leader of the Weathermen Terrorist Group, along with his cohort Bernardine Rae Dohrn, Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, the name he used working for the DEA and later for the FBI as a Special Federal Agent, was appointed by the former late President Richard M. Nixon and Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, worked as a Federal Agent from December 1970 until his official retirement in December 2004. In September 1978 , Elvis, aka Federal Agent Jon Burrows was the Government's '' Secret Witness '' in '' Operation Fountain Pen '' and He testified in Federal Court against a well known member of the Mafia Organized Crime Syndicate, a one Fredrick Peter Pro of the '' Fraternity '' In September 1977, Elvis, aka Federal Agent Jon Burrows, entered the Federal Witness Protection program where he stayed until July 1978.Then Agent Jon Burrows, aka Elvis, returned to Washington D.C. where he worked for the DEA and then later for the FBI Counter Intelligence Branch until his official Retirement in December 2004, and ending 34 years of dedicated Federal Service. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows was in the Federal Witness Protection program because of past threats made by members of the SDS Weathermen Underground Terrorist Group, Bill Ayers and past threats by certain key members of the Mafia Organized Crime Syndicate, of which Agent Burrows, aka Elvis took part in various undercover '' sting operations '' to indict and bring them to Justice. All these facts are told in a documentary interview that Elvis aka Jon Burrows, gave, recorded and released on a DVD in January 2012. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, also recorded and released a brand new CD of 15 songs in January of 2012. Both have been voice printed and authenticated 100 % as the voice of Elvis Aron Presley by Computer Voice Analysts Technicians. Besides being a U.S. Federal Agent with the DEA and then later with the FBI, as appointed by the late former POTUS Richard M. Nixon on December 21, 1970, Elvis was also a Bonded, Certified & Trained Deputy Sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff's Dept. Memphis,Tn, since September 23, 1964 and Chief Deputy since October 10, 1970 with Shelby County Sheriff's Dept .Elvis was also a Reserve Police Captain in the Memphis PD , a Reserve Police Captain with Denver PD and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the LA County Sheriff's Dept. He was nominated as One of the Top 10 Young Men in America by the American Jaycees on January 16, 1971, not for his work as a Entertainer, but for his dedication and work in Law Enforcement !! A Fulton County Deputy Sheriff , GA , was on location at a very well known Wax Museum in Atlanta, Georgia on the week they were closing. Vernon Presley and a couple of the guys that work for Elvis came in and bought a lifelike life sized wax figure of Elvis, They made the purchase and on the way out the door, Vernon Presley turned to the guy at the museum counter and said,
" Just Wait 'til you guys see what we're going to do with this " !
AND this Is the TRUTH as told by Elvis himself !!! Elvis Presley Is Alive !!!

@@BearStar1 - Nothing you talked about there is remotely accurate, outside of the Nixon thing. And even that wasn't anything more than a courtesy to Elvis, not anything that he could legally have used in the same way an actual agent could.
These stories have been rehashed for over 30 years, and to this day, nothing substantiates them.
But the fact that anyone would still be taking them seriously in 2023 is even more ridiculous than believing them in 1990.
The man would be closing in on 90 right now - which in his family lineage with the known hereditary issues throughout would make him practically a freak of science. He began dealing with many of the same health issues that plagued others in his lineage before he was even 30.
So now, here it is over 45 years later, and he's somehow magically outliving almost everyone from his inner circles - people who had nowhere near the medical ailments he did? Plus his own daughter now as well?
And that doesn't even factor in the additional damage caused by his addiction habits. Do you even realize how remote those odds are at this point?
It's one thing to suggest that he could have lived somewhat past 1977, but to still be alive today borders on insane. He'd have been lucky to have lived to see 75 - even if he'd never touched any pills.
And think about this - if you were someone famous who had some need to pretend you had died, then you could pretty much use any story you could choose, right?
So out of all the possible scenarios, you seriously think that Elvis would pick - collapsed from a toilet with multiple narcotics in his system?
"Hey, guys... Let's use THAT one!"
Why not passing away in his sleep? Or having a stroke on his racquetball court? Or maybe a fiery accident on his motorcycle?
That alone should tell you something very sudden and unexpected took place he had no control over.
How long does it make any logical sense to keep pushing this thing? Until the man would be 95 in a few years? How about when he'd be 100?
Is there any point when you'd realize it's beyond time to end it?
The man was human - not some zombie who's going to be walking around while everyone else dies around him - give it a rest.

I wish he could've had his dream to perform concerts oversees, not only would he have seen for himself how many people loved him, he wouldhe would have given so many more people the opportunity to see him live! While I'm extremely glad the Aloha from Hawaii via Satillite was shown live, I feel very let down for him, as he could have followed it up with a lengthy tour and at least make a few more $$! I, like many, am sickened by the way "Colonel" Parker (Yeah, right, Colonel! 😒 Theiving crook!) took advantage of such a naive, trusting, and loyal person as Elvis. It's nothing but thievery to take 60% of Elvis's earnings as he began to do! Pushed him to the max that anyone's body could have taken, and when he was I'll Partner's only concern was that Elvis get on the stage; the man was a pathological lier with complete lack of empathy, he had no shame! I watched an interview Elvis gave, I believe it was after a performance, he had a nasty cough, his eyes looked sick, and that he kept telling the obviously concerned press who kept asking if he was really OK, that "it's just the clean air" that he wasn't used to anymore. The man was sick!! 😥 😧😢I don't know how he was able to sing.

I believe that the way they pushed the band to do all those shows would have killed an elephant. Pushing people to the brink of death wasn't exactly the right thing to do. They sit there talk about him but, they probably contributed to his death. Now they are sucking up to the cameras.

At his height of his career, even when weasle Tom Parker. Degenerate gambler. That he was, may God have Mercy on his soul. Took 50%, i don't understand. Why did he do this when the going fee was 15%, I believe, at the time. Did Elvis have a lawyer present? He bever cared for 💰 too much. Judging by how much he gave away. Plenty Elvis from age 20, 35. He ate everything in big hand fulls. Not Money he likes seeing the byproduct of his work! Caddies. He bought what (7) in one week. Honestly, guys. Im Levin is Elvis saying he needs a vacation to get cleaned up for his fans. Sadly, it never happened. " Adios, may we again!

      Elvis,
Was so kind ❤️ his father had the bigger gate installed. Elvis would stand outside and listen to everyone's problem. Then he started giving money away. Large sums of it, so Vernon said a lot of the kids would stand at the end of the driveway. & they would tell him. All the troubles, worry him about this & that. I felt it best to put a security gate. He also had value of money, only to help others. Vernon said, "Have you seen the bank statements lately?" Lots of 💰 missing. Daddy, these people's needs & want help. Remember Dad, I don't forget the poor days. I'm going to seek help from church menbers. Is this not what you said Dad, if we have been blessed & we have. It is our obligation. We must do this.

I was 7yo when I saw his '68 Comback, sitting on the floor about 1-2 feet away from our B&W TV, and his voice, especially in minor chords (my favorite!), touched deep into my chest/heart/soul, whatever it was, but that was it! My mother grew up when he first came out, she was 14, so she was really into his earlier years, but I preferred his more matured voice '68 on. I spent my first $$ on that album, then saved my babysitting and lawn mowing $$ for Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite!!
I have always felt badly for him trusting Colonel Parker! He basically robbed Elvis blind, overworked him when he was ill, and didn't give him the opportunity to go outside the boundaries of the US, because he was a crook! Aloha from Hawaii would have been the perfect exposure that would have made sure he had full, blown out concerts all over the world, rather than being limited to Las Vegas. So many of his trusted "friends" took advantage of his generosity and then cashed in by writing a book that trashed him when he couldn't afford them anymore. Terrible, terrible thing to do to someone who they lived off of until he was blead dry!
There will never be anyone who can come close to him!!

And the worst "friends", father, family-members and wife, who only saw Elvis as a mealticket and not as a friend, son, grandson, stepson, stepbrother, nephew, cousin or husband. The people with whom Elvis had a more business-like relationship like musiciens, his nurse, cooks and housemaids were more loyal to Elvis than the familymembers and friends with whom he had a personal relationship or a mixed relationship. Most of the MM-members continued exploiting Elvis even after his death with tell-all books and interviews. Some girlfriends and familymembers did the same and Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu was the worst of all them. Why would the persons Elvis had a business-relationship with only tell positive stories about Elvis while the persons with whom he maintained a family or a friendly relationship tell a lot of negative stories about Elvis. Very strange. Is it a form of envy? Maybe a big difference in status, pecunia and power is more difficult to endure between "friends and familymembers than between an employer and employees. Could that be the reason?

Awesome Documentary!! Thank you. I was 8 when I first saw Elvis and was hooked. I dressed like him , imitated him, sang his songs and was very upset when he passed. Back then there was not much out there behind the scenes, and we could only see what television, newspapers and a few magazines brought to the public. These types of videos are a treasure to have. Brings tears to my eyes on how much I admired him, and hits my heart every time I watch these personal in depth interviews. He will live on forever.

Loanne Parker said it all when she said we all expected Elvis to be immortal. In a way he is, he left such a huge legacy in his music and movies. I cried with her when she cried at the end of this video.😮‍💨

What struck me after watching Elvis growing up. After several encores, that pubic announcement, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the premises!"
I never heard such an epic announcement, for any other artist.

Elvis never gave an "encore" that Ive heard of? It was straight music until Cant Help Falling in Love at which point he left and would leave for good.
