I planted seeds for these for the first time this year, and they're ready to transplant. This video was perfect! Straight to the point and saw the process all the way through ❤
I am glad it was helpful
I love 4 o clocks because when they get thirsty they droop and within an hr you can see how happy they are. The flowers last forever too!
Absolutely
Greeting from Florida, USA... Zone 9. I have been growing six Four O'clocks and didn't even know it; I have been calling them my mystery plant. They came in a hummingbird seed mix. Thank you for the growing information.
Glad it was helpful
Florida here as well.
Same as you. My dad gave me seeds from his flowers 18 years ago and I literally just scattered them in my front planter and they keep growing every year bc the seed falls off and germinates where it falls.
They are special to me bc my dad gave me the first seeds 😊
I live in Lake Charles, LA and it is always hot and humid. Do you think I can grow them here in this climate?
This is the video I needed! The part where you showed where the seeds are was my favorite! Nature is so amazing! Thank you!
So nice of you
Last year I planted this and it was the main attraction in my side yard. What a delight!🙂 This year I went overboard and planted seeds on both sides of my house. I love the continuous blooms. So pretty!🤗
I overwintered them and they have started growing now
I live in Colorado USA and my mom got some seeds for me from Mexico, will the new plants adapt? It snows here during the winter.
@@carrasco2011sc plant them in a container and then you can move the container in garage in winters after pruning the plants
@@EasyPeasyGardening They are planted outside already. I really really hope they come back next year.
@@carrasco2011sc then you can prune the plants to the bottom in winters and add 6 inches of mulch to save the roots during winters
Excellent video, thank you! My plants have just begun setting seeds, so I’m looking forward to collecting them for next year. 🌻
Awesome! No need to buy next year!!
Thank you for the vid. Watched it 3 times this week to prepare to plant today. Excited to see what happens. I’m in the Northeast US so I think they’ll do ok. Thx again.
Good luck!
I am in Puerto Rico on vacations to see my family and I saw the plant and that's how I fund your video, I will take some seed to NY, thanks now I know what to do.
Awesome
Good detailed video with visual demonstration on details of growing the plant from seeds.
Thank you
Very thorough video seed to seed. Great job!
So nice of you
Beautiful plants, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for visiting
I love these flowers! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Mine are about 2 inches tall. They've been planted for about a week. Yours are the same color of my grandma's. Beautiful
Yes, and I was able to overwinter them this year and they have regrown
Great video! I've planted a bunch of Four O'clock seeds, and it's exciting to see what they will become!
My plants from last year just started to regrow
I did the same but the seeds came from another country. I wonder if they will make it. They are growing right now because is hot and nice here.
@@carrasco2011sc they will survive if they already germinated.
Thank you for the video and I will sow my seeds ; we are in Uk and looking forward to see the results .
They look amazing. The next year I grew them with blanket flowers and the yellow and magenta combination was absolutely breathtaking
One of my favorite flowers
Mine too
Nice vid…. Very well done. Gonna give them a try. Thank you
Yeah, they come back year after year if you leave the roots
Thank you, this was very helpful!
I'm so glad!
❤ Such a great video
You are so kind
Thanks for explaining

Thank you👍

I love this plant! It smells nice too! I'm in the Florida keys and we have these everywhere. A friend of ours has a yellow one and a fuchsia one that he keeps self pollinating yellow and pink flowers, and now his Bush is producing flowers that are pink and yellow! Very interesting! I had a few seeds from his plant I recently planted. Cant wait to see if I got 2 colored flowers, lol. HAPPY PLANTING!💚🌞
Awesome, I must try that. I have heard about it but never tried it.
Do those in Florida Keys die back or have a non blooming period?
Just few days ago I discovered I had a very remarkable bunch of 4-o-clock plants at a lane by my backyard (essentially, the sweet smell they throw in the air lead me to them), they bloom yellow and magenta flowers. They are really nice, and caught my attention. I have no idea how these plants ended up there, but anyways, it's been a nice discovery. Because of that, I became interested on how to cultivate them _inside_ my backyard. I picked up a handful of seeds (the plant generates hundreds), and now I do plan to cultivate them. Thanks for sharing your experience with this video, veyr useful. I will just try to replicate it (Barcelona area, Mediterranean). Kind regards
Great, yes they come in yellow and magenta colors and if you grow them together, some seeds will grow plants with mixed colors
Thank you again. ❤❤❤
You are welcome
Amazing! I hope mine will do this well.
They will. These plants are very resilient. Mine are about to bloom in this season and they sprouted from the roots of last year
Hi I grew 4'Clocks for the first time spring of 23 and I was pleasantly surprised! I can't wait to replant the seeds around my property because I love Hummingbirds. However, you must be diligent about collecting those seeds. I can see how they can easily overtake an area quickly. But I like them 👍
Yes! Also, depending on where you live, you can prune them to the ground in winter and they will sprout back in spring a
@@EasyPeasyGardening "Prune" them please explain?

great video ty :)
Thank you
I brought some seeds from Australia, they germinated ... Good 4 plants growing... The thing that amazing me its blooms night by 9 o'clock
Mine bloom around 7 pm. I think it depends on the light
Your seeds take lot of time to germination for me it take only 6 days.but for overall growth your results are awesome
It all depends on the environment conditions
thanks for sharing this video I'm new friend here
Great, welcome!

Thank you for this video! Great to see an Indian gardener (I am Indian too). What zone do you live in? I am in Zone 6 and I am thinking about starting them indoors now
I am in zone 9
Great capture of their growth. How big and wide do they get to be?
If you leave the roots in the soil over winters, in the next season, they can grow 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide
My strain of Four O'clock 's, are extremely Fragrant
Awesome
Thank you very much for informing us about this beautiful flower. I read that flowers are fragrant when I searched on the internet. I like fragrant flowers and wonder how 4 O'Clock flower smells. Would you tell me how strong they smell? Do they smell like jasmine and nicotiana flowers?
Mine aren't fragrant at all
I just got 15 seed from a neighborhood and I planted 7 of them I know it's not the good time...but i wanted to experiment and the other 8 I will plant in March or April
Good luck
Thanks for this video, it was very helpful. Do you keep these four o clocks in a planter or have you transplanted them to the ground?
I started new ones next year.
Kept these in planters
Very informative video 👏what is the size of your planter which holds 3 plants of 4 o clock? I have lot of sapplings but small pots so checking how many i can accommodate together
Mine is about 12 inches tall and 10 inches wide
I planted seeds of this plant in the month of April, all the plants have grown up but there’s no flowering only leaves
Does it get a lot of sun?
Do the seeds need direct sunlight after being planted? Also, can this plant be kept in relatively small flower pots? I love in an appartment so I don't have a garden nor space for big flower pots.
The seeds don't need direct sunlight. You can grow it in small container too, it won't grow as big but it should be fine.
Very interesting and informative! Do you know if these seeds are poisonous to birds. I know they are to many pets and deer avoid the plant. I am concerned for visiting birds but there's not much information on this aspect on the net.
I don't know that
@@EasyPeasyGardening Thanks for replying.
@@rajendrasiv1171 of course I will reply
Will they grow in a 4 season state if the seeds came from a none 4 season place?
yes
How do I keep this plant blooming? It goes to seed very fast. Is the only way to do this is by constantly removing the seed pods? I think it’s pretty but the bloom time is short.
It keeps producing new blooms for many months for me
Do you soak your seeds overnight before planting?
You can, it helps
my seedlings look leggy and I am hoping to re-plant them in deep soil. Can they take full sun all day / south facing?
Seems like your seedlings are not getting enough sun. You should gradually increase the sun. If you move it in harsh sun while they are still weak, they will die
Hi, thank you for this video. May I know what is the size of your pot which has three 4 o’clock plants planted in?
I think it was 12 inches in height, 10 inches wide
@@EasyPeasyGardening Thank you!
@@dewisalim3320 you are welcome
How often should you water them?
Depends on the weather. Watch your plants for a few days. As soon as you see leaves drooping water them thoroughly. After a few tomes you will know how often to water them
Does it has a smell? I planted mine and it has a few flower but I don’t smell anything 😫I was told they smell so good😵💫
Mine didn't smell either
I was told today that the yellow ones are scented.
@@kingpin1118 good to know. I have heard that if you grow the yellow and magenta close by and save their seeds, the resulting plant from those seeds can be multicolored
Did you ever catch Covid-19? It can cause loss of the sense of smell for some victims.
Mine has fewer leaf and small
Is that because i put them in full sun 32°C?
You know next year they will be much bigger. They die back in winters but do not remove the roots and they will grow much stronger and bigger in spring
@@EasyPeasyGardening Ohh thanks for the information
@@alhozaifah3484 absolutely
Do these die back in Miami?
Probably not
But I planted my apple seeds at almost 6 o’clock will they not grow on time?
Haha
4 o'clock blooming every season of the year?
Just in summers
May I know how much time it takes from the seed to the flowering stage? Because mine has been sprouted for 3 months and not blooming yet?
