Post Hole Digger tip - Measure up your handles to depth required. Mark with tape, pencil, etc. Saves pulling out tape repeatedly. Looking forward to next part.
Had lines on post hole digger at one time lol. Good tip
I like it when you show how it's gonna be, and then show us how you did it. That creates some kind of mental awareness to understand what we are expecting and working towards. Great video and tutorial here. Not everyone knows how to create a video others can follow and implement.
Hey thanks! I can do much better if I didn’t feel rushed. Will continue ti improve
Beautiful workmanship.
Hey thanks. 👍
You are on another level Rodney. Id love to have enough home time outta this semi truck to be able to use my equipment and do some fun solar projects like this
I took vacation during December to work on projects lol. I do get some time depending on overtime at work. 👍
Just started with solar. Got two 100-watt panels this past Sunday.
Nice! Good start to self reliance
@rodneyhunt gotta start somewhere. Wamt to get my radio shack completely off grid.
Ham shack? I have my license but haven’t used it in years. Need to setup my stuff when I have the room
@rodneyhunt i have turned a shed into a ham shack and office. Insullated then walls, but not yet the ceiling. Still need to get power out permanently.
I want my entire house to be off grid, that takes time and money.
I have had fun and been learning with ham radio.
Great video, waiting to see the second part
I'm working on it. Hopefully tomorrow
This guy was a pleasure to watch figure out things..I really like how he thinks and rolls with things when they go wrong..which always happens to me too :). The kind of guy I get along with super well. I was going to have a fab shop make a metal one but I may just build mine myself after watching this. Thanks for a great video. You have a knack for video.
Hey appreciate that! Better when we DIY so we can fix things when we do have problems in my mind. 👍
@@rodneyhunt I agree. If a man built it then so can we..just have to apply ourselves and want to learn. then get started :)
@@A.C.71 Indeed! 👍
Nice simple build thanks for sharing. You could add some metal bracing in the corners. Im sure after the pannels are installed the rigidity will be there
Yes I think the unistrut will bring it all together. Thanks
see ya on the rest of the build, thanks for sharing this video with us. I want to make one very similar.
Right on. Pretty simple so far
Glad I inspired your build. I don't mind you using my video clip on your channel.
Was just trying to show what you did so they could see the differences and they can check out your video as well. Thanks
@@rodneyhuntNo problem at all here.. Glad i could help. You can post a link to mine if you would like. If i can be of help please let me know. I have new videos coming. Just had to stop and get the new building in order... Things went wild for a minute.
Looks good thanks for the video
No problem and thanks
Bam! Nice build sir
Thanks
RODNEY, GREAT PROJECT!
I ALSO SAW THAT GUY’S GROUND MOUNT BUILD & WAS IMPRESSED AS WELL!
1. ARE YOU GOING TO PUT DIAGONAL CROSS BRACES ON YOUR POST TO STIFFEN & HELP SUPPORT FOR ADDITIONAL RIGIDITY FROM HIGH WIND?
2. ARE YOU GOING TO USE BIFACIAL PANELS & PUT WHITE STONES UNDERNEATH TO INCREASE YOUR POWER FROM REFLECTIONS?
Hey thanks.1. I probably will just going to see what the best options are. Probably 2 crossed each side I would guess.
2. Going to use the Hyundai panels I already have but may try bifacial in the future.
Thank you awbean5254 for recognizing me...
The strongest part of your mount is those grade 8 bolts. Grade five bolts would have been more then strong enough. In a strong wind the 2x6s will just break at the bolts.
Good in 40mph winds so far. Anything can break with enough force for sure. 👍
Good Morning ! TAKE CARE..
You too!
My shack at the lowest is 8 ft and 11 ft at the peak. It looks like im going to need to have the top of the panels at about 10 or 10.5 ft to stay out of the shacks' shadow.
My tilt array post are pretty low. So I would definitely watch how high you put the post. Not sure if you mean just the top portion of the array when tilted or the entire array needs to be that high at a minimum. May need to back away from the shack if possible to keep post lower. 👍
@rodneyhunt The southern facing eve is about eight feet and the peak is about 11 ft. I have about six feet between the back property line fence, and that is an easement for power and other utilities.
I do have the companies coming out to mark the utilities.
@rodneyhunt i may just mount them on the shack/shed roof with the supplied mounts and screws
Please share a material list.
Thanks for a Great Video
Will do
Hello Rodney where did you buy the rails and hardware to mount the panels? Thanks
Lowes or Home Depot. Unistrut
@@rodneyhunt thanks
The wood isn't stupid. lol..
Lol. Stupid wood
No chance that would work here. My ground mounts will involve big deep holes, lots of concrete, steel columns, and aluminum, all designed be a professional engineer to include calculations and a signed wet stamp. In my area the design is for 20LB. SQ. FT. snow load and 90MPH wind load. My county will not accept ground screws or driven piles either. Generally, the mounts will cost about the same as the panels, before installation. Permits are required, not negotiable.
So where do you live? Unfortunately many places have lost more freedom than others. We have all lost freedom to do what we want though. Survived 60 mph wind gust so far and hopefully we do not see any higher than that
Face them true solar south not magnetic south.
Actually faced them a little more southwest than my main array . Since they are blocked from the morning sun anyways.
