In the end of March 2024
Nvidia went from 950 to 760
A drop of 20 percent
1 month later is was back up to 950 then a week later it was 1100
Nothing goes up in a straight line
Nothing has changed
No target prices have been reduced in the last week
Actually I saw a post somewhere where a long time NVidia investor found some kind of pattern, where NVDA move aggressively before and after earnings, then does 15-20% pullback, comes back again and then moves up before the earnings. So it's the same patter every quarter.
You have to always ask the question...who benefits from low NVIDIA prices. The first to benefit are short sellers. They are feeding the narrative that its a bubble about to pop. It's all a big game to the short sellers. The other beneficiaries are folks like me who will keep buying at low prices. The oracle of Omaha said buy and hold. I agree.
Also probably people who just sold and want to see that they have sold at the top 😊

My time horizon is six years.
I think at the span of 6 years we'll have so many ups and downs, that 10% move either way is not going to matter much. It's like 6 years ago you could have bought it for $20 or wait for it to go down to $18. When the (pre-split) price is $1,250, it doesn't really matter.

Competing with Nvidia is not only about building GPUs, you also need to develop your own platforms and convince software developers that their software, (which is based on Nvidia APIs that are around for the last 17 years) needs to be migrated to your new platform.

Take a look at their offerings - they have build amazing platforms for developing AI systems. Also, it's not all hype - the company is insanely profitable. Can you think about another (mostly) hardware company which have margins like NVDA does?

You compared Nvidia to its competition but you did not evaluate the company to come to a fair stock price. You just guessed based on what it is now.
You are correct, I did relative valuation, which assumes that NVDA at some point will be priced comparatively the same as the other companies (the ones I've compared to). The advantage of this valuation, is that you don't have to factor your opinion for the whole market (no need to guess interest rates in the future, for example).
At some point we'll do DCF valuation for NVDA, but I'm not sure how interesting it would be - it will be a 40 minute video of me playing with numbers in Excel :)

I'm afraid the market thinks so. And calling Nvidia "graphic processor company" is like calling Apple "the phone company" - technically correct, but there's a few nuances :)

NVIDIA is branching out fast and it has tons of profits to buy out companies or technologies that would benefit its progress in the future.

The question is when to buy, it dropped massively right now so how low can it go to buy?
I think the real question is how long do you want to hold it. If we're talking quick swing (3-5 days), now can be a good time. Even better time would be to wait until the stock started moving up.
If we're talking 6-12 months, then it doesn't really matter.
