Pacey hopes that an overnight camping trip by taking Dawson to their favorite childhood camping spot will help ease the pain when he prepares to tell Dawson about his romantic feelings for Joey. But their plans get interrupted when Buzz and two of his friends come along. When Dawson brings up memories about their loyal friendship, Pacey chickens out and decides not to tell Dawson. Meanwhile, Joey deals with the emotional fallout from her kiss with Pacey by spending a girls' night out with Jen and Andie. But to Jen's surprise, they stumble upon a 15th birthday party for Henry at the local roller skating rink that she was not invited to. Also, Jack clashes with his father when Ethan arrives at his house for a visit in which Ethan gets caught in the middle when Mr. McPhee bonds with him and not Jack.

Back in Capeside, Jen, working as the hostess at Gail's new restaurant, Leery's Fresh Fish, becomes surprisingly territorial when a waitress, named Shelley, flirts with Henry who's now working there as a busboy. Also, Gail and Mitch question their current situation over being partners in the restaurant.

@@jennyoneill8879 exactly the chemistry showed and I truly believe Joshua Jackson will always have some love for Katie Holmes. The reunion get together look he had just proved that even more. The fact they were together on the show probably was an idea off of them actually being together at the time. Look at friends for example Ross and Rachel were united on the show because the actors were dating when the series started and Jennifer Aniston has seemed to hold a real romantic relationship together since. The chemistry between both tv relationships was unbelievably difficult to match.
I was always so happy that this happened between them the writers did a great job having them as a couple over Dawson. Thank you show runners and bless up.
fun fact, the show was starting to lose ratings. They lost the original writers and brought in two women for what the network was assuming would be the last season. They put together this couple and this relationship is credited with renewing the public interest in the show.

I don't think that people realized that it was the intention the whole time. This was a Pacey and Joey love story from the very conception. It was obvious from the very first couple of episodes.

This episodes before they start to be together were the best! Pacey slowly becoming more and more in love with her,the akwardness between them after the kiss,Joey obviously falling for him during the trip...and the kiss scene...is in my opinion is a TV masterpiece,just perfect in every sense.

Yeah there are WAY more Pacey and Joey shippers now than ever. I was an idiot back then too. Now I watch it back and think about how gross and annoying Dawson is and have no idea why I ever wanted them together. Maybe it's cause times have changed so much since then... or maybe its just because that's what they fed us at the time and we were suppose to believe they actually were soulmates or something. But now, I barely even buy their friendship lol.

I remember back then I was annoyed that Dawson chose Joey over Jen in Season 1. I stopped watching after they gave her that awful haircut in Season 2. I felt the complete opposite watching as an adult.
the difference between dawson and pacey is pacey was never selfish with her. he brought out the best in her and supported her through so much.

The chemistry was insane because Katie and Joshua was once a couple in real life and Joshua was Katie's first love. You can find virtual article when Katie's states that Joshua was a first love. Funny thing is that Pacey and Joey became a couple after Joshua and Katie broke up in real life. At one time, Joshua talked about how hard it was to do their own screen romance when they were no longer a couple in real life.

Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes are so perfect for these roles and the writers sooooooooo in tune with the characters. Pacey and Joey are so epic and their story is so well crafted and acted that I cant help admire them 20 years later. To have such well spoken ,smart and likeable characters play off each other and have the chemistry they had makes Dawson Creek one of the best ever of this genre. Every scene they share is a perfect one. Two of my all time fav tv people!

Random observation: Joey's hair in the scene starting around 5:05 is the absolute BEST it ever looked through the whole series, cut- and color-wise. I hated when she started lightening it after season 3... Katie Holmes' natural hair color is so gorgeous! It looked so sad and fried with the blonde ends.

Yeah! They were meant to be in a way that’s actually funny when you consider that wasn’t on Williamson’s radar. But Pacey was attracted to Joey early on, and she declined him then because she was still fixated on her childhood Dawson crush. When Pacey’s attraction to Jo starts up again in S3, he’s spent so much time with her, he’s already borderline in love. She finally feels the same, but her loyalty to Dawson made her bury it until she couldn’t take it anymore.

Let me tell u something im 40 now and i knew back then that they had chemistry and that it was deep. The way pacey would pick on her in the early seasons😌 and the way she loathed him was so damn CUTE😍🤭. I knew they was gonna end up liking each other and be together.
When Joey reached back and grabbed for Paceys hand at 11:35, spun around, you could see Paceys heart skip a beat, and on her toes kissed pacey, that moment right there, sealed their love for each other. Regardless of the journey from that moment on, they were each others destiny.

One of my best friends was a D&J fan and an P&A fan, and we always argued about how those relationships did not hold a candle to what Joey and Pacey have. They just made more sense in the end and I think people only wanted to love Dawson and Joey bc of the “soulmate” of it all.

For sure! He calls her out on it though. “You kisses me back… you did!” You can even see Joey gripping Pacey’s sleeve while he’s kissing her, and she doesn’t push him away or protest until he’s done kissing her.

The only thing that sucks is they had to change the background music from the original. I had them all on VHS and it’s not quite the same without the original music. Shows you how many times I rewatched these scenes. Such chemistry.

never saw the show growing up, I was more into nerd tv :) but with all the pop culture ref in other things I figured why not. I ended up fast forwarding through about 90% of the seasons but I did like Joey and Pacey as a couple. Those where some of the few bits I would watch. That and the Murderdolls ep and when Jenson was on screen.
