Just got a 2019 supersix evo 105 before the dropped seat stays for $1k brand new basically never ridden. Dream deal 😍
You got a better bike for less than a quarter of the price. Enjoy.
I feel bad for the guy that you robbed 😆
@@Normally_aspirated 😂 crazy deal from a bike shop they got as a trade in
hehe in Winter 2017 i got a brand new Supersix Evo Ultegra 2016 for 1390€ from a Bikeshop... the original price was 2599€ i upgraded all the parts bit by bit with good sale parts and ended with a 2700€ Bike worth 5000€. sadly i crashed it last week :( but it did serve me very well for almost 6 years and the value for money was unreal ! ended 7,35kg. Now after the crash it still hangs on the wall in my living room
@@lordad ha! thats amazing sad end but yea im doing a similar thing with my build currently goal is 6.8kg so we'll see haha value for money is amazing love the way it rides
For about the same price as the Lab 71 frameset (about 3300 GBP here) - I built a Dave Arthur inspired SSE Evo3:
slightly used SSE Evo3 48 BBQ colorway, Ultegra di2 12sp groupset (for some unknown reason - the price difference with Ultegra di2 and 105 di2 here is just a posh saddle hehe) , discounted Zipp 303s wheelset, Schwalbe Pro One TLE 28c tubeless setup, Zipp carbon cockpit and Fizik argo saddle. Loving it - it's definitely the best bike I have ever owned. I like the new design refinements in the Evo 4 - especially the downtube di2 battery compartment and BSA BB so it is something to dream about and look forward to but in the mean time ... I am setting PRs on the Evo3 without much effort.
Thanks for the review, David. I never owned or rode a Cad, and I trust what you say about its qualities. I am not sure why I have the feeling that the bike manufacturers are milking us dry with their pricing strategy. How does paying over 4,2k for a bike in this range make sense? How many bikes do they sell at this price? I am honestly annoyed; my monocle just fell out 🧐🤣
If you get a great deal for it, I say go for it, especially if you’re in the more price sensitive 105 crowd. Deals can be found for those excellent Hollowgram wheels that have DT Swiss hubs and very high weight limit as opposed to Zipp or Hunt wheels.
If you’re the type that drops cash immediately on new wheels like me and only want a top of the line groupset I’d say wait for the new bike since price doesn’t really matter for you within reason.
I’m on my third Supersix, and have the 2022 model, and it works great, the higher stack height is great for my flexibility as opposed to my buddies slammed Sl7 and I’ve ridden them on long 400-500 mile tours comfortably.
IME, this bike looks better than the Gen 4, which looks like a Specialized. I had the choice to wait for the new one and chose this one instead. Glad I did.
Thanks for your review, Great Video!
Imo the old frame looks better, maybe I’m just not used to the look of the new gen yet.
But the bottom bracket and the stem/bar solution of the new gen would be the decider for me, to go with the new one.
So for the European buyer …I got this bike 2 months ago ….when the rumours was a new bike coming by June according to a friend. I payed 3500euros with Shimano 105 Di2 around 3060 UK pounds(after some bargaining with the seller). Now for me as a triathlete and using this bike as the group ride bike or basic training bike is a great bike ….if u don’t like the stem and handlebar FARSPORT have a integrated bar with the spacer for this frame looking amazing…. Would I wait to buy the new. Unless I have spare cash this bike fits a medium high rider any day anywhere.
Hey Dave. It would be a good ideal to test and review- compare the CAAD 13 (a cheaper alternative to Cannondale fans) to the SS and the CAAD 12 you recently got
How does it compare with the 2021 Boardman SLR 9.4? Apart from better wheels of course.
awesome bike and in stock now !
Thanks for reviewing bikes that are more affordable. So often influencers get pulled into reviewing the high-end models based on equipment provided by manufacturers who want to pull us up the range. Would be great to see a review of the New 2024 SuperSix EVO 3 or 4 (105 mechanical / Di2). Both are considerably more affordable, have more flexible cockpit setups and would seemingly make great bikes for gradual upgrades. However, does the new entry level frame handle as well and are there other downsides that would eventually hold them back?
Which weighs more? The Gen4 with alloy wheels or this Gen3 with those wheels? Cause if it's the same then the Gen4 is the obvious choice, being more aero and costing less. Right?
That steering stop on the older bike would be a deal breaker for me, can write off the frame in quite a mild crash
One model I greatly do not recommend.
What gps mount did it have on the handlebar?
Would you riders say that a 2020 supersix hi-mod with 11s ultegra di2 is a good deal for 3500€?
Can you use larger crowns like 55 or 56?
I already have my eye on The EVO 2.
How did it come standard with the Shimano BB? Cannondale have their own crank no?
Is it as comfortable as Giant TCR Pro? A direct comparison of the two bikes would be good as they are now both selling at £3000 with the same spec.
I totally agree with you. I bought the supersix evo hi-mod with a di2 105 group for €4,500. I am from Spain from Murcia. For an amateur user, this bicycle is spectacular and has a bicycle for many years.
I'm in murcia for a week in July. Any good places to hire a bike from ???
@@The.cycling.firefighter I have sent you a message. but I don't know if it has reached you?
Now this bike cost 2600 in my country
Nice bike . Cable routing is a deal breaker unfortunately. TCR or New Propel for me unless I see something fantastic at the Bike Show !
Stunner. I dont mind the steering. Keeps it from hitting frame. Of course there is the argument that that should be left up to the rider. Doesnt bother me. I think ultagra mechanical would compliment that bike better.
Thing is, you can’t fully internal the cables with a mechanical group set. It works though but it’s not the way they sell it
Timely video as my LBS has a gen 3 ultegra di2 and I'm debating whether it's worth waiting until September when the Gen 4s are expected to be delivered. But that essentially means waiting a whole season longer. I'm really torn on the decision.
My local bike shop, Mikes Bikes has a ship date of May 17th.
They also have that Di2 model in green for a big discount.
@timdixo it was more the new threaded
Bb that seems to be sticking to me. I heard lots of complaints over the squeaking Press Fit version on the gen 3.
Sticking with my Ultegra mech.
For me that steering block always had a lot more benefits than limitations
This or the tcr?
Why would you choose this over a 7.8kg canyon aeroad with ultegra?
Hola amigo ,te quiero preguntar algo sobre el tamaño de bici, yo mido 1,81 y me quiero comprar una supersix evo en talla 54 no se si estará bien,en la pagina de la web dice que la talla 54 es asta 180
I bought the ultegra di2 version because it went down to 7100nzd! Massive discount compared to the 2023 version .
I’m looking at this (at this price, who isn’t) can’t get past the weight of 105 di2 though.
This video came out at the perfect time. Theres a SuperSix at my LBS in my size, but it's the mechanical 105 version, around $3,000. What's holding me back, is it compatible with electronic shifting?
Sounds a good deal, and yes it's compatible with electronic groupsets should you want to upgrade in the futur e
OEM prices on Shimano is so much cheaper than retail so often is cheaper to sell the old bike and buy a new one with the Shimano components you want.
@Ketle just depends on if the LBS can get it or not. I'm very tall so finding the right size is extremely hard
Love my 2022 SSE team awesome 👍🤩🏅🚴
Pricing for the old frame is wrong, you have not really explained why we should pay this much rather than get the latest. I think anyone that helps clear the old stock for this level of discount is getting mugged off.
3rd gen Evo was launched in 2019.
Yep. I remember it well because I bought a 2018 and about 3 months later, the new one was being spotted.
Yup my mistake, slip of the tongue. I should know too, I was on the launch for that Evo back in 2019 in Vermont
Do you have a link for that computer mount?
It came with the bike
It’s cannondales own. Look up the handlebar and what mounts Cannondale have made for it
Didn't you say price would be discussed?
Wait for the new frame. It's like buying a brand new 2019 🚗. Wait and get the new one.
For me this bike, not the new, this is the most delicately beautiful bike ever designed so only for that I'm happy still in the market.
Greetings from Colombia.
I got a canyon ultimate with ultegra di2 for $4000 usd
How old?
For a moment a though he was Matt Wattson from Carawow
Cycling has become the rich man’s golf.
If it's $1,000 less, yeah I'd definitely buy the old version
How can you justify paying over 4K for a bike like this 🤯
I used to work in a shop where a decade ago we'd be selling the older 105 equipped Supersix like hotcakes on sale at just around £1-1.2k - it has always been one of the best performance per buck options around. But there's no way that these new bikes are 3/4 times better than those, even when inflation (real, not bike industry) is taken into account. I don't mind the wheels, though equivalents could be bought very cheaply direct - this bike would be a far better prospect with non-electronic gearing at a more realistic pricepoint. This is exactly the sort of good bike that could get new young riders into the sport...these days in my local area I hardly ever see young riders out on bikes, I wonder why? ...
amazing that $5,000 is now considered "entry level"
Did I call it entry level or are you just making that up? Entry level can be whatever price somebody wants it to be. You can get a decent road bike for between £300-1000 of course.
get the gen 4 and some bargain used carbon wheels
Bikes have got far too complex and sophisticated. For just about everyone, the difference in enjoyment between a £5K bike and a one that could be made and sold for under £2K (mechanical gears, rim brakes, good alloy wheels ) is hardly noticeable.
New bike looks better though
It costs 5000 Euros. Why are the brands trying to loot the people.
Just look odd and can’t ever get into the locks. Would never buy another Cannondale unless it looks like an old CAAD
Converted to South African rands that is over a quarter of a million rands! Twice the price of a small car. Which has more substantial and complex engineering? - A car or a bicycle? - Bike manufacturers have completely lost the plot - their basically just taking the piss at this stage.
This bike is €5000 where I am and for that money you get an old bike? Cannondale hit their head real good. 105 Di2 isn’t even that expensive anymore, so they can’t put the blame on that. The only reason you’d buy this bike is if you want the barely readable ‘Cannondale’ on your top tube.
You will always regret getting the old bike!
No one in their right mind would have paid that much money for a 105 level bike 10 years ago. lol
105 wasn’t electronic 10 years ago though was it
@@davidarthur no but it’s still 105….and I believe the 105 ten years ago was probably lighter than the current di2
Shop around if you want one, £3600 is the cheapest I’ve found........bargain
In Europe I got mine for 3500 euros ( 3060pounds)
Try Buy A Bike, if you're a 54 or 56, they're selling them for £2,995
@@millyskyliner Where if i may ask
Definitely not worth it, too heavy, too expensive. Maybe if, at this price and weight, but with systemsix frame.
Your crazy to buy any bike costing £ 5000 +++ not value for my money a upgraded Caad 12 for £ 1500 just as fast and longer lasting unless your really that top 10% 125 cc honda or yamaha scooters cost half the price of those bikes enough said.
The lastest Cannodales are still a yawn, their design is pretty much the same, nothing innovative nor exciting
Gen 3 super six is poorly designed and subject to damage due to poor quality build. I would steer clear of Cannondale unless it was an older made in USA model with BSA BB. Hail Caad 9 with BSA
Why do you say that ? I'm riding a supersix gen3 (and I'm heavy and racing with it), never had an issu or heard someone had a quality issu. Did you have a pb. with it ?
What is your proof of that? I have 2 and they are perfect.
I really like the this Gen3 EVO. Granted; I'm a bit of a snob on the groupset as I'd much prefer an Ultegra setup on this bike. But as I often say; I'm in no danger of receiving a UCI World Tour contract 🙂
