      DarkLightAvenger * His point is that he's an ignorant, uneducated buffoon who doesn't know much, but doesn't want it to show, so he's trying to make himself look clever by saying, "I'm so smart that I can figure out anything in just a couple of minutes."
      All these people who say they know the whole story - if you asked them about how this story was resolved in court, they won't know.

    • @mbsdx
      @mbsdx Před 9 lety +12

      Andrew St. Clair My point is that Tim Burton is the most overrated filmmaker ever, and he completely missed the point of a trailer, which is getting a taste of the movie not TELLING THE FUCKING STORY, from the trailer I can say without doing any research, that this will be a story about a lonely,divorced awkward artist, who moves to a big town, meets this charming man, falls in love, gets married, his weird paintings are a success, his husband takes the credit for them, they start living a dream life, she gets jealous and wants credit, they fight, they both start losing their mind and go to court, you're right I don't know the final veredict of the court, but from this trailer I honestly couldn't give less fucks, have a nice day.

    • @AndrewStClair-gp6cg
      @AndrewStClair-gp6cg Před 9 lety +38

      Mauricio Berlanga Your point was that Tim Burton is the missed overrated filmmaker ever? When the hell was that ever the point, Here's your first post, stupid.
      "The trailer just told me the whole story... thank you very much"
      Nowhere in there did you mention Tim Burton, and certainly nothing about him as a filmmaker. You just pulled that bit out of your ass.
      And congratulations. The trailer has revealed to you what anybody with a little bit of knowledge about anything would know. All the trailer did was catch you up to what smart people already knew.
      I'm glad that you said you didn't know the verdict of the trial, because that also demonstrates that you don't know how the trial went down as well. In fact, if I hadn't mentioned it, you wouldn't have even known there was a trial. So, you're going to pretend to be smart and claim that you know the whole thing now, but you don't. You're an uneducated buffoon.

    • @KazumiKiguma
      @KazumiKiguma Před 8 lety +24

      +Gema Zavala No, they're not, they're for us to see what we're in for with a film. This basically a biography on a real life event, just made more dramatic. There is no suspense of "OH MY GOD I WONDER WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN" because it actually did happen. Just like not all movies are the same, not all trailers should be the same for all movies, and for a movie like this, it's kind of hard to portray suspense for something like this without just not giving enough information. This is a trailer to tell us this is a retelling of a real life story, it's not a trailer that works for many films that actually need that suspense, but in this case, a case where we're a simple google search of the artist's name away from seeing what happened, it's not that bad.

    Margaret Keane became a Jehovah's Witness. When she learned what the bible teaches her paintings changed from sad children with big eyes to very happy children with big eyes. Where as her previous paintings depicted sad children in sad places and settings, her new paintings featured happy children in happy places and settings.
    I really hope Burton hasn't left this out of the movie. Becoming a Jehovah's Witness is a pivotal moment in her life and career, and a major reason why her paintings took on a happier, brighter style. It reflected her feelings.

    I'm not even joking. My mom, aunt and Uncle had 'big eyed' pictures back in the 60s. And my Mother named one Julie. She used to talk to it every night and when they moved out of the house they lived out of the house they lived in my Mom said Julie doesn't want to be moved or she'll be extremely upset. To this day my family claims that the grass in the picture where Julie stood grew. So she was left on the wall. I'm going to watch this movie just so I can see if the 'Julie' painting is there.

      My mother always liked creepy stuff. Also as a child she played in the the attic and talked to a picture of an old man. My Grandma would tell her to come down and she said that Bill likes company. On Halloween a neighbor kid was going as the mister peanut guy so my grandma went upstairs to the attic to get a cane. My mom freaked out and said don't take it because Bill will get angry. He doesn't want his things touched. Later on my grandma was talking to the landlord and asked who owned the apartment before him. He said it was a guy named Bill. My mom also smelled like cigar smoke and Bill smoked.

      ysoof groof Tim Burton is a great director, Ed Wood is one of the best films ever made, easily. But over the past decade he's mainly done big budget adaptations like Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows and both of those were really lousy films. His dark spirally visuals have become cliched and lazy, he's a visionary but after a while his movies just start to blend together. This looks new, it looks like a Burton film but it doesn't have Johnny Depp or the worn out visuals.I'm happy he's doing something remotely new, that's all.

    • @mikewhite6138

      Hunter Helms Have you seen Alice in Wonderland, it was pretty crappy. He's making a movie that doesn't necessarily fit his already established Tim Burton motifs, that doesn't just cater to the Hot Topic crowd. It's take effort to not just rest on your laurels, it's daring and once upon time Burton was a visionary daring director, I'd like to see him be that again.

    Big Eyes seems like a wonderful film. I am expecting that the movie should get nomination in categories such as Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Costume Design. Best Picture still seems impossible for the movie. Best Original Screenplay high chances. In Best Actress category Amy Adams will get nomination. But the chances for her to win is less as soon as Julianne Moore show up with Still Alice this year. In Best Supporting Actor category Christoph Waltz has very less chances since its overcrowded year for that category. And the Best Costume Design got a bit chances for nomination.

    Hell, Im going to sound like a stuck up hipster for this but..Tim burton has made tons of amazing films. I was very shocked to read the comments here, yes Johnny and Helena aren't in this flick, yes it goes against Tim burtons traditional style, but it saddens me to see that the one film that gets people all excited is this one, versus what Tim's traditional style. Change is good, but I rather see the praise for his dark and eerie films, cause thats HIS style, this movie looks good but never would I think it would be a burton film. Sad to see that his art is not really appreciated for what it is, and that he gave in to "pleasing the people".

      I think that you're forgetting that Tim Burton has always loved the artist Margaret Keane and admired her work. He's probably seen her artwork when he was a little boy or when he was in his teens or twenties. He's probably always loved her style. Have you ever wondered why Tim made some of his characters with big eyes in some of his movies like Corpse Bride? I believe his inspiration came from his idol artist Margaret Keane. It's what motivated him to become an artistic film director. That is why he choose to make a movie about her. Maybe Margaret's story is something that reminded Tim to be very careful not to let anyone take advantage of his works. His new film called Big Eyes is to also let other artists know to be careful too.

    Osamu Tezuka,, aka God of Manga, was the FIRST one to start implementing the "big eyes" into an art form. He's best known for Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion, Tezuka was instrumental in developing Japanese animation and modern manga comics. As a result he ultimately changed the aspect of an entire culture and created a bold new and original style of art.

      @_BenJaminCroft_ Před 4 lety

      @@awkwardguy8238 No. Margaret Keane (born Peggy Doris Hawkins September 15, 1927) says she got her inspiration when she started painting portraits of children in the late 1950's. "Children do have big eyes. When I'm doing a portrait, the eyes are the most expressive part of the face. And they just got bigger and bigger and bigger." Keane says.
      Osamu Tezuka (born November 3, 1928; died Februeary 8, 1989) at age 17 published his first manga in the late 1940's, "Princess Knight" and Shoujo Manga was then dominated by the big-eye style. Right around that same time and age Peggy was attending the Traphagen School of Design in New York for a year. Then ten years later in the 1950's she began a career in painting big-eye portraits. That's also around the same time when Tezuka published his second major success "Kimba the White Lion" and then soon later "Astro Boy".
      I'm still unable to find any sources that directly link Tezuka to Keane or Keana to Tezuka. But judging from these evidential dates and times, Keane's big-eye look is at best analogous to Tezuka's and she in fact did *not* "create" the big-eye style; and that Tezuka was most certainly *not* inspired by nor influenced by Keane, and that he was the one who did in fact "create" the big-eye style.
