- This time travel takes us to Eastern Europe in 1941, where a bloody and criminal war is raging with heavy losses. It is autumn, and the advance of the German Wehrmacht is stalled. The roads are muddy. In the Russian quagmire, German hopes for a quick victory against the Soviet Union fade. Rare private film footage of a German soldier shows the difficulties of the troops. Their destination is Moscow. The supposed last attack of the Eastern Army, "Operation Taifun", should bring the decision with two million men of the Army Group Center, according to the German strategy. By October 20, 1941, the Germans, with three armored armies, succeeded in shattering the Soviet front line, encircling another 673,000 Soviet soldiers in the encirclement battles of Vyazma and Bryansk southwest of Moscow, and finally emerging in front of Moscow , exhausted and poorly equipped against the Russian winter.

The monocled general the epitome of prussian militarism
Back breaking just to move at a walking pace......just one thing this footage shows is that den Heeres did not rely primarily on mechanised vehicles to move when in reality it was poor bloody horses in their millions that provided the primary means of transportation and haulage. Official German newsreels though where rarely allowed to show this feature of the Ostfront. In fact the Soviets where much more heavily mechanised even before US started pouring war material in.

They did some nasty things in and around Bryansk... and it wasn't just the SS as cold war "pop" history suggested but the regular Wehrmacht got their hands dirty as well.

Indeed, the scenes of Soviet prisoners being fed marks this as early Barbarossa footage. It wasn't long before the Germans were content to let Russian POWs starve to death.
So true. An estimated three million Soviet prisoners died in German custody.

"Historian Viktor Zemskov estimated Soviet POW deaths at 2.3 million."

@@vincentkosik403 krauts captured Yakov close to our home in Lyosno, Belarus, a young Russian officer came by & let us know what happened just then, Napoleon also stationed 40k troops in this small town in 1813, this was also the Krauts front line for 9 months before battle for Smolensk on the same road.

What an amazing contrast the invading US army in Normandy is only 3 years later, fully mechanised, not horse drawn
As were the British and Canadian armies.
And the horses were all eaten by then.
Remember that the eastern front had terrian (mud) situations that were far more intense than in France. Horses made better sense. The right tool for the right job.

Увидел табличку Брянск. Кстати на английском пишется Bryansk. Я из области из Рогнедино. Вокруг в радиусе 50км десятки мест, деревень, жителей родственники которых сожжены в домах заживо. Знакомая моего учителя музыки это бабушка, ребенком которую вытолкнули из маленького окна сарая, в котором подожгли 200 человек с детьми. Спаслось двое. 3 сестры этой бабушки и мама сгорели. В лесу, когда идёшь по ягоды и грибы везде в районе где бы ты не вышел из машины. Везде воронки от взрывов и окопы, противотанковые рвы и места где прятались или оборонялись солдаты. Просто приехать с металлоискателем в любое место района и приложить его к земле и оно все усыпано патронами и гильзами. Я сам лично нашел на одну поездку в места где растет черника 28 гильз латунь от миномёта, 50 патронов ппш, осколки авиа бомбы с надписью az2. До сих пор уже лет 18 лежит и патрон и осколок дома в ящике. Детям показываю теперь. Живу в Брянске на Кургане. Тут вокруг куда не плюнь в лесу рядом за БГУ везде воронка. То самолёт упал на склон с 2 летчицами, в честь которых храм построили на горе. И когда читаешь весь этот бред уродов кто в чем то сомневается и прилетает власть сейчас. Идите нахер. Всем нашим спасителями долгая память адекватных русских людей. А на всякую шоблу не стоит тратить время. Недовольные всем будут всегда, даже в раю Еву не устроила жизнь и она решила попробовать запретное яблоко. Спасибо за видео

The very first attempt was even when Hitler was not Germany's chancellor, and it was supposed to take place in the theater where Hitler was supposed to perform. The bomb was hidden in the wall and exploded too early, Killer was still caught, but not executed, he was put in jail. Hitler was lucky many times, and he thought he was God.

Interesting that the top tier officer at 5:48 does not do the straight arm hitler salute. He does a standard salute that i guess was the norm before hitler. Shows that not all people in the Wehrmacht were nazis by belief. (Idont know if that officer was btw. Who is he?)
The Wehrmacht only used the Hitler salute after the failed assassination of Hitler in 1944.
Than god for that salute it makes up for his part in the millions of Russians butchered for his bit of the glory.

Но правда в том, что при наступлении, застрявшая техника оказывается в тылу, и её можно потом спасти. А при отступлении, застрявшая в грязи техника либо уничтожалась, либо захватывалась врагом. Придумали причину, и сами в неё поверили. Будь здоров Винсент.
