  • Another week down in my personal size Filofax original and still having a lot of fun with the setup. I survived a couple trips with it and made a few modifications for now.
    I have a shop! (I’m working on listing the inserts I’ve been making - no pressure though there are likely other great printables in your stash already!)

    I've been using the pocket rings for the past 3 weeks and using the micro 5 for a few months. I do not archive these ring sheets as it is meant for being an EDC jotter. If there was a note or drawing I want to keep I would just cut it out and past it to my binded journal at home. I keep my archival material to a minimum. Good thing is my stash of reuse blank papers are going down. Bad thing is my stationary splurg spending recently is on fountain pens and inks. 😂

    Franklin Covey Pocket has the same ring spacing as True A6! (For anyone who is curious)

    I like using the Stalogy paper in my rings. I took apart an A5 Stalogy with a box cutter, and punched it to put it in my home binder. It’s been so nice!

    I love that Kokuyo paper too, I bought it in A5 to print inserts without trimming and it’s really nice!

    I can not, for the life of me, write comfortably on the lefthand pages of a ring planner, that is ALWAYS my issue, it never fails that I run into a situation where it is incredibly inconvenient to "just pop a page out" to write on it and it's impossible for me to write legibly in the spot I need to, I find this to be the biggest issue with calendars and dailies. As much as I'd love to make rings work for me due to the flexibility, I know it will just end up not working out as usual. Sticking with my A6 bujo this year, if it ain't broke don't fix it, plus I already ordered a new-to-me appunto for it, haven't bought a new one in over 2 years now, I'm super excited to start a new year in a fresh nanami Cafe Note and chestnut ostrich appunto! Love new years in my planner life! ❤ happy planning in your new set-up, I wish you luck with lefthand pages!

    I somehow didn't realize that you has moved over into Rings! I love seeing that transition. :) Also, the Kokuyo Paper is incredible with fountain pens and ink heavy items... while also being cheaper than doing the Tomoe River Paper. It hardly ever tears unless one of my kids get ahold of my planner. You'll do great with it.

      I've been loving the paper so far - probably my new go to once i"m out of my few back up inserts. I'm looking forward to freshly printed pages in December now

    one of my favorite papers i never see people really use at all is the whitestone by classic crest (neenah) its very light cream/gray-ish paper that has a sort of 'kraft' appearance to it (micro fiber-y flicks in it). it loves all my pens, and i love the off white color. im rotating between my ring binder and my jumbo a5 zequenz.

    Thank you so much for suggesting the Kokuyo paper! I immediately got a ream and I am in love! I think it’s a fantastic balance between the thinness and quality of Tomoe River paper and the thickness of the printer paper that is always my go-to for my rings setup. Thank you!

    How beautiful everything looks. The midori md paper and the life noble, in b6 slim or directly a4 and cutting it to personal, it looks great; life noble already comes in bible size, that is personal size and there are versions with 0.5 grid and blank, so it is also a very good option (80gsm more yellow than midori md, soft like TR and fpfriendly). For me, heaven for pocket and rings is a plotter, it's a shame I can't afford it😢

    • @lindseyscribbles
      @lindseyscribbles  Před 9 měsíci

      thank you! i'll have to keep those papers in mind for sure! I usually prefer a more cream paper too

    • @illustr8a-boi
      @illustr8a-boi Před 4 měsíci

      I bought a Plotter (in personal) but can't get on with the tiny 11mm rings. The plotter paper is really thin and the holes are a little nearer the edge than normal so it really works best IMHO with their own inserts, though that is quite restrictive.

    As someone still trying to discover a system that works for me, that all in one magic moment where pen meets paper again and and again, I really appreciate how thoroughly you’re able to communicate this passion. I’ve only see your Hobonichi update video (thinking then that the H. Mega Weeks was my new path), and this video. So now I’m considering a “rings” method. I’m a total beginner though, never bullet journaled, not super artistic, and rarely consistent with anything, and generally living in full anxiety mode. Pretty overwhelmed actually…, I stepped back to when you referenced a page by page flip of it, where can I find that link? Thanks so much!

    Hi Lindsey! Thank you for the video! What kind of printer do you use? If it’s not a laser one, do you have any issues with smudges if you highlight over the printed lines and text?
    I’m thinking of getting a new printer to be able to print my own pages (my old one can’t handle it at all), and I’m researching which one to get ☺️
    Thank you!

    • @lindseyscribbles
      @lindseyscribbles  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I'm currently using an espon xp-6100 printer. it's an ink jet and haven't had any issue with highlighting over the printing. In general, i like my printer but i've had better quality so depending on what you're printing you may want to look for something that's advertised as a photo printer vs what I have. In general epson is my favorite brand bc they seem to just work for me. hp printers and I don't get along - but when i had an hp photo envy the quality of the printing was fantastic. we just got into too many arguments lol

    Can you tell me about the dots in your journal? I tried to find the Megan you mentioned by I have no idea who she is. I would love to know how you color code your journaling.

    • @lindseyscribbles
      @lindseyscribbles  Před 8 měsíci

      Megan Rhiannon is who you're looking for here on CZcams and and absolutely recommend checking out her videos!
      the idea of the dot stickers is to categorize the topic of the writing incase you're flipping back through to find something a bit quicker. you could do similar with a marker (or just indexing the entries too). most of my journaling isn't something I like to go back and re-read - so right now just adding it in to add visual interest for myself.

    • @PattyGardner170
      @PattyGardner170 Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you! I don’t tend to reread my journal entries either but It might be interesting to see how often I wrote about a particular topic. I’ve been journaling for years and never thought to do that. Thank you again.

    What kind of clicker pen are you using. The ink is so black. Is it gel.

    • @emilyoliver9402
      @emilyoliver9402 Před 9 měsíci +5

      The clicker pen is a fountain pen! It's a Piilot Vanishing Point which is what she often uses. However, in this video (around the 10 minute mark) she mentions using the TWSBI Diamond 580 in extra fine a lot recently. The ink is probably De Atramentis Document Ink in black if I am remembering correctly.

    • @lindseyscribbles
      @lindseyscribbles  Před 9 měsíci

      I've also been reaching for a unibal on in 0.38 which is a gel pen (pretty sure it shows up int the video too!) would recommend if you're not into fountain pens
