  • In this week’s Medical Grand Rounds, Bob Wachter, chair of the UCSF Department of Medicine and author of the bestselling book, The Digital Doctor: Hope, Hype, and Harm at the Dawn of Medicine’s Computer Age, discusses healthcare’s digital evolution - beginning with the widespread introduction of electronic health records starting about 15 years ago. He’ll describe the current context that will shape the implementation of generative artificial intelligence tools (such as GPT-4 and Gemini), and analyze (as he did in a recent JAMA article) why the stage is set for true digital transformation in the next several years.
    Speaker
Robert M. Wachter, MD, is professor and chair of the UCSF Department of Medicine. Author of 300 articles and six books, Bob coined the term “hospitalist” in 1996. He is past president of the Society of Hospital Medicine, past chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. In 2015, Modern Healthcare magazine ranked him as the most influential physician-executive in the U.S. In 2020-23, Bob’s tweets on Covid-19 were viewed more than 500 million times by 275,000 followers and served as a trusted source of information on the clinical, public health, and policy issues surrounding the pandemic.

I'm keeping an eye on GPT's progress and this makes us aware we are now there along with some errors, with more refinement to come. I live in AZ and my doctor may or may not have a clue.. Hopefully he will for sure soon .I was recently asked to pair my Apple watch with the patient's portal.

This was great! The history of EHR is something I was unaware of and I’ll use in an internal presentation and give you credit: thank you

Thank you for the great talk, and I am surprised that there are not more views and comments. Hopefully AI will discover it and promote it more 🙂

It's the old competition between memory associations styles, do you use a rote learned Memory Code of the ancient world understanding of mutable organic existence in "spiritual" terms of enforced law, or what Medical Practitioners are confronting in a diagnosis, WYSIWYG and hope to guess what is "going around".
Because actual cause-effect logarithmic condensation modulation in the now-connection is fundamentally a functional moral problem of Mind-Body manifestation before you choose a Modality and methodology.
    Very interesting developments.
