Can we talk about how great that lady handled her boyfriend crashing? So calm she kept her smart thinking to help
She's a nurse, I talked to her on Facebook. They were just starting an epic motorcycle trip (around the world? or across Europe, at least) and they crashed into this unmarked missing bridge on their first day!
On the one hand you are right. But on the other: it is a bit disconcerting that she is so eager to film the whole ordeal. I even suspect that the *moment* of the crash was not actually filmed, but "staged". Suppose now you are her friend and worried about your life while she runs around, and even calls the ambulance, with a camera in her hand. Good for us, the viewers, for sure but for her friend? It is one thought too many to think about filming at such a moment.

Rider can turn onto any lane he wants, as long as he has the exclusive green turn light, and the expectation that opposing traffic remains at a stop. SUV ran a red light, period. Two left turn lanes...#2 lane (what the rider was in), can turn onto the #3 because he had the exclusive green.
The ONLY time opposing traffic can turn at the same time, is when they BOTH have a green turn arrow. ONLY THEN, must the rider go to the #2 lane, and the SUV to the #3. This is ONLY when ALL opposing traffic lanes have a green dot or arrow. That is not what happened here, as all oncoming traffic was red . SUV would have been charged for any damages and traffic violations, because he ran a red light.

You can't pick and choose your lanes when you make a turn, proven in the video with the solid white line and then turns into a spotted line. That being clarified, the suv still should've waited for a better opportunity. In the end, they're both dumb.

The SUV had a red light, and was NOT allowed to turn at any time while there was ANY traffic in progress.
In California, "highway" will mean any roadway or street.

@@SLO-Ride You do realize that right turn on red's are allowed correct? As long as that intersection allowed for right turns on red? The biker is at fault. The right turn only yeilds to cross traffic, but he still HAS to go into Lane 2 and THEN put his blinker on and switch lanes into Lane 3. That's how traffic works. Educate yourself.
EVERYTIME I turn into traffic, I stay in MY lane until I am clear to merge into another then. Then signal for 4 seconds. Checking all mirrors and over shoulders. And THEN changingg lanes.

3:05 Biker needs to review turns and lane use. He left his turn lane.
It's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure the Harley rider had a left green arrow. If that's the case, the left green arrow always has the right of way over a vehicle stopped at an opposite red light waiting to turn right. The car at the opposite red light can turn right on red, but he MUST yield first to the traffic traveling into EITHER lane, left or right (unless there are some other specific sign markings to the contrary). The biker was free to move into the right lane as he did, again, assuming he had a green left arrow, which I think he did since there is a pedestrian crossing sign lit up. But I agree it's safest practice NOT to do as the biker did. It's best to turn left only into the left lane, and not switch to the right lane until you've established yourself in the lane you're already traveling in, and only switch to the right when you're sure it's clear, that is, avoid colliding with people violating your right of way by turning right in front of you. If you're a motorcyclist (or car driver for that matter), you have to be vigilant and not rely on everyone else only doing what they're "supposed" to do.
In many states the outer turn lane is allowed to either stay in their lane or go to the next lane to the right.
@@Puck90a if you look closely towards when he refs his bike, you can see a yellow arrow pointing right. So I believe the biker is in the right to be angry, but I’m unsure if there is a “no turn on red” where the suv pulled out. That could of also set him off.
