Thanks for bringing back more montreal memories , I don't remember the street name and there was or is beautiful little market at the corner which also sells BBQ chicken , in mid 80's I used to go there while living at Du Fort to buy lunch and sit at the bench outside and eat.

Westmount is great but terrible roads.
Most cold weather cities like Montreal and the Upper Midwest have terrible roads. Winter takes a huge toll on them.
Yup, it's even worse in Montreal, due to its geographic location, freeze/unfreeze happens a lot during winter. Brand new asphalt will start cracking within a few years.

What car were you driving?
Very nice homes and trees, and not real ostentatious or off-putting as some wealthy areas are - with residents behind locked gates. This looks like a great place to live. It seems the Quebecois value neighborliness, even as they move to the top of the income scale. This is NOT true in America's wealthy areas, where the folks want to be isolated, and have nothing to do with their neighbors.

This is just for your information only, so I hope it doesn't come across in an argumentative-internet way.
Westmount isn't a neighbourhood of Montréal. It's a separate Anglo enclave within the city of Montréal, so it's not Québécois. Notice the stop signs are even in English.
@@juliansmith4295 I suspected it was an Anglo area, as there were no ARRET signs. As an Anglophone, I would prefer to be in a French area - that is the whole point of being drawn to Montreal. If I want an Anglo city, I would go to Toronto. How much of the western part of Ile de Montreal is Anglo? I saw a video from St Anne de Bellevue, and it seemed to be French. I have always been treated well by the Quebecois (I speak some French, but not fluent), so prefer to be around their culture - and improve on my French.
Just to make things clear Westmount is a different city. It does not belong to City of Montréal. However it is on the Island of Montréal. Not the same thing.

I know I supposed to be impressed but it's really not all that. I find Outremont much more charming because it's not trying so hard. And I still dislike non-bilingual signage. Desole!
Funny. I don't remember seeing bilingual signage in BC... Westmount and Outremont houses are NOT the same. Neither is the neighborhood There aren't that many artist families able to afford Westmount. There's a couple million difference in the asking price and municipal tax evaluation.
