- Light bulb above the shower or bathtub went out?
Wonder how to remove, access, and replace the light bulb / lighting that are recessed into the wall?
This video shows you how to remove, access, and replace the light bulb inside the metal enclosure that designs to keep the moisture away.

It’s the small projects around the house that’s hard for me. To small to hire a handyman and I can usually fix it if I know how. CZcams has been a big help. Thanks for the information and for posting this.
Craig, thank you. Your comment made my day!
Let me know what other projects you like to see, and I will see whether I have the resource to do it.
This may seem pretty obvious to some people, but if you did not know that there is a tab holding the dome to the outer fixture, and you just need to twist it, it could cause you to break your light fixture! Some of these things "Snap" together, so I thought this was helpful information! Thank you!
Thanks for showing this. I tried turning it in place but nothing happened. I did not realize you have to pull it down and then turn the inner portion. Now I do.
My wife will be pleased if I get this done.
I know this is an older video, just wanted to reach out and say thanks because it saved the day. Amazing information, thank you
Thank you so much. Sincerely, a girl who was tired of waiting for her dad to do it😭
Oh wow!! This was so helpful!! We successfully changed our light bulb in our shower after watching your video!! Thank u so much for sharing!
When I was married, there were always a few things I never had to worry abt fixing. This happens to be one of them. Thxs for making the videos bc I wasn't sure abt this one at all! Fingers crossed mine goes as smoothly as yours did
I do appreciate your video! But honestly you worked really hard at that lol. See those two wires on each side…. They are spring loaded “see twisty thing”. Just push those together and that little house comes out! Would make that so much easier
finally your video helped me to replace our shower light bulb,. Thank you sir!! Your video is pretty simple and neat.
Thank you so much! My mother-in-law needed this changed and I had no idea how to do it and found your video. And it was tricky to pull out but I would have never figured it out on my own. After your video I had it changed in about 5 minutes. Thanks again!
EXACTLY the fixture I am trying to change right now. And no, I don’t think the answer is obvious at all. Thanks for the help!
Thank you. My husband couldn’t figure it out. I will share your video.
I did it! And, your video provided the needed explanation.
Worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
Thank you! This definitely kept my dad from driving 4 hours to change it!
Your comment made my day, haha!
Ha ha ha ha …. That’s a Very Great Dad!
@@user-xr6no5ik7sHe is! He's literally one of the best!!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
I really appreciate this. I replaced mine it was super easy as it doesn't have that extra cover thing. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your video! I just replaced the bulbs in my bathroom.
Thanks. That's easy enough. Definitely easier than I thought. 😔 My fear of creepy crawling thing falling out while I'm changing it freaks me out.
Thanks for the great content!
Thank you so much, no more showering in the dark!
Thank you sir! I just go look at a video before I do something now just because it’s such a timesaver!
It worked just like you said in this video. Thanks.
Super helpful! Thanks!
Thank you, will try tomorrow🙋♀️
Very helpful. Thanks!
Felt like an idiot, didn't want to break it. Thank you!
Thank you it was so easy 🙌🏽
Thanks.for the video. It helped us today.
Thank you. I will finally replace my burnt bulbs.
I just exchanged my light bulb. Thank you for the video
Thank you I appreciate it more than you know👍
Thanks for posting this video, it is tricky, I wonder why the design is so unfriendly.
So my light is domeless. Currently gonna go to the local hardware stores to see if its even possible to buy one. Very confused haha. Hope you see this and could maybe explain why this was? Great video either way. Very helpful.
Thanks dude!!
Thank you so much for this video👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the video
Thank you so much!!!
Thank You For This Video
THANK YOU :)
Thank you.
Thank you!!
Thank you! Just replaced mine
Awesome! Thx 😎
i was just going to make my guests either shower in another room or shower in the dark HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA ... Thank you. I'm sure my friends thank you as well.
thank you!!
🤘Thank you!🤘
I wish I had watched your video bedsore attempting. I now have to buy a new fixture…. Good info though.
I say “tada” too!
Thank you for this! Am I able to put any type of bulb in this? I noticed the one that previously went out had an auto shut off? If I forgot to turn the light off then it would cut off by itself? If I flipped the switch off and then turn it back on then the light would come back on immediately. Maybe it’s not the bulb but the way the electrical was designed???
I would also think the auto shutoff should be controlled by the switch and not the light bulb, unless it’s a new type of light bulb I am not aware of. Let me know how it turns out.
May I ask if you were able to remedy this. My bathroom shower light fixture does the exact same thing… only once it’s off… I have to wait for it to come back on.
@@deryckszatkowski5284 no I have not! I think it has to do with the wattage of the bulb maybe
because once I replaced the bulb i now have to wait for the light to come back on too. Doesn’t come back on immediately. So I’m not real sure! If you find out the answer to this please let me know, because it’s mildly irritating.
Thanks
I really miss having a shower light. It lightens the tub area. That fixture looked a lot similar to the ones I had about 6 years ago.
So I assume your current one has no light?
@@travelingtrex4897 yep. It really sucks. I love those lights. They’re cool. I would’ve put an LED daylight or LED color changing light bulb in there as I love the light of LED
@@loudspeakertestsmorebyaida3804 Does it have a vented fan above? It depends on whether it's a rental. If not, might worth while to change it the way you want.
Thanks.
What type of light bulb does it use?
Are these standard bulbs or water “resistant” type?
Mine is all one piece 😁 lovely
I didn’t know what I was doing and I pulled so far that the two metal pieces that hold the fixture in the can fell out. I’ve swapped the bulb, but can’t get the cover back in place.
What size bulb should I buy before I attempt this?
They could design 2 screws to hold the light bulb cover instead of 2 prongs.
I need some help man... Mine didnt have latches, it was being held on by the lightbulb & friction. I don't know what to do here.
PS. This fixture had no tabs to release, springs only.
This unit is a heat lamp
Very convoluted video making something that should be simple much more difficult than it needs to be. I knew after watching only 40 seconds of this that this video would not teach me what I needed to know quickly and easily.
these lights are hideous. yuck. thanks for the video.
Chile….ima just call the handyman
Why can't people just leave normal light fixtures alone an stop creating headaches injuries to people to hard an sophisticated for most
It’s like they’re designed so you have to call someone.
I don’t even know who to call
Mine won't open 😢
Mine is crazy tight....not coming out
I assume you were able to access the light bulb but it doesn't turn?
My glass cracked...
You did it the hard way, should’ve just take off the cover first.
What?
Do you have a video where you can do this?
Remember, it's a light that's above a shower or a bathtub and it's designed so that steam doesn't contact the light bulb.
@@machomachinmachinmachinmac6910 I’m sorry I didn’t mean to disrespect you or anything like that. I have a shower light just look like yours and this is how i do mine. after pull down the cover I just squeeze and pull down the two springs that hold the cover. The cover should come off and you can replace the bulb. When put the cover back on you just have to make sure to push it in the same direction as you pulled it out and it should clip right up. You’ll see what I mean when you got it pull out by squeeze the springs that we’re holding it.
I would need a video to understand what you’re saying
I'm even more confused after watching this mess!
This stuff is such a pain in the ass, makes me hate being a homeowner
Those fixtures are bulls@$t
Adam, they are tricky to get to the light bulb. Are yours similar?
Thank you!!!
Thank you!
Thanks
