- In the last video, I joined my friends on a last minute trip to Germany for a ten day tour of Bavaria. Now that we’d gotten a taste of the big city life in Bavaria, it was time for my favorite part - a trip to the mountains. And not just any mountains - the Alps. The Biggest, baddest mountains in Europe!

your pronounciation of Zugspitze is wild after basically nailing Garmisch-Partenkirchen hahaha, no shame at all I'm just very entertained :))
I loved it :)
Ha! Caught that too. One out of two ain't bad!
Garmisch is one of my favorite places in the whole world. And yes, Tyler is right that it is terrifying for some scared of heights....I am also scared of heights and that gondola ride was quite scary...especially toward the very top.
Great video!!!
Thanks for bringing us along!!!
As a german i must say, this is totaly
awsome.
When i stood on top of the Zugspitze the weather was so bad icould not see anything, what made it even scarier to climb to the very top.
I really love this episodes😍
Being a Dane, i hosnestly feel like Germany is so underrated!
I learned to ski in the alps in the 1970’s while stationed in Bayreuth. The U.S. military had a hotel for service members in Garmisch. Never went up the Zugspitze. Going in Sept 2024
I love your vacation vlogs!! You should definitely do this more often.
I just came to see how many people wanted to correct the way you were saying: Zugspitze. Definitely very picturesque up there. I went skiing up there years ago. I remember the view feeling like something out of a movie.
This genuinely put a smile on my face! Love seeing you getting out there and living! Plus, your cinematography/music choice was *chefs kiss*. Well done!
Yooo thank you Omer! 🙏 I had a lot of fun and put a ton of work into this one
@@The_Sampler of course man! Love to see you pushing yourself creatively. And seriously you can tell the effort on these ones lately
that sledge design is hilarious, brings a new meaning to live free ride hard...
My DUDE IS BACK!
This is always one of the best part of my week.
Thanks for sharing the stoke!
Glad you could visit the place your step dad loved so much :) It's truly the most beautiful part of germany :)
Absolutely love the travel vlog!!! Can’t wait for the next one!
Really love to see you enjoying my country :) I hope you have/had a blast visiting. It is so strange to see foreigners being baffled about stuff we take for granted. Makes me appreciate the little things again.
Thank you for sharing this. I haven’t been to Garmisch in over 20 years; I appreciate this glimpse.
Just watching your vlog gave me a smile and made it so injoyable to watch.
What a trip! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
'Live free, die hard, get ripped' LMAO!!
"grocery store checkout schnapps" I believe they call that an impulse buy, great impulse amigo!
I traveled through Switzerland, Austria and Germany with my dad in 1987, everything was amazing, the food, the scenery, the hiking and the people couldn't have been better. This video took me right back, thanks!
Going all national geographic on us! Though I dig it, it looks like an amazing trip.
The view from the top of the mountain was just amazing! And the bare assed luge looked fun.
Awesome video Alex!!
Love to see you in the Alps Alex!
Awesome. I got to Augsburg many times. Love that area. Thanks for sharing this with us.
That looked like an amazing trip.
Excellent video Alex!
My dude !! I just went there last week when I was on my school exchange !
I stayed in Grainau (even closer to Zugspitze) for a week and it was lovely
Your stepdad chose the right place to revisit every year, it was the most beautiful place I've ever visited
Was there with my nephews last year, we went down the hill on those luge things at least a dozen times lol the Airbnbs in the Alps are amazing, great video!
Nice Trip video !!Thanks Mate !!
Ma dude!!! So glad you got to check out Garmisch. That part of the world is amazing! I was lucky enough to call that place home for 3 years. Brings back so many amazing memories. Keep on exploring and living your best life 🤜🤛
It's my favourite place in the Alps. I hope I could go there mountain biking next summer. Awesome travel vlog!
I'm so jealous and happy for you at the same time. Wish I were there! Absolutely beautiful. I would also not be able to resist going to the top.
My favorite trip of all time included a stay in Munich and a train ride to Lermoos, on the Austrian side of the Zugspitze. That place is unbelievable
I LOVE Bavaria! True Bavarians don’t even consider themselves “German,” LOL! The food is ridiculously delicious and the geography is some of the most beautiful anywhere.
We are from Bavaria. It's near Germany!
Awesome Alex!
I hiked to the top of the Zugspitze. The route involves several long Klettersteigs, also know as Via Ferrates. You need some basic climbing gear, including a harness and crampons, and you are roped onto cables and or ladders on the way up the steepest parts. The crampons are for crossing a glacier about half way up. This can all be hired, including a guide, which I highly recommend.
Last year we did the best Tour so far. We went All the way from Munich to the Zugspitze. Doesn't Sound that great maybe but Our Route was about 120km and we were not exceptionally fit 😅
However we made it and are plannig a different Route for this year. Cant wait 😁
No singletrack, but some great sampling nonetheless. Definitely not disappointed.
Fun Fact: the majority of the Tranalp MTB tours to Lake Garda starting in Garmisch.
The best vacation I’ve taken was to southern Germany and to this very location. I will go back some day.
I'm originally from Luxembourg, so I'm tremendously enjoying the Germany travel vlogs even though there are no mountain bikes involved. Made me miss all the good food and booze. :) Live free, die hard, get ripped.
Lived in Germany in the 80’s for a couple of years. I had a chance to go skiing Garmisch, but got sick. I never went back. Maybe some day. Miss the food, beer and people. Polka, not so much.
Cool Video - seems like you had a good time! Next time in Germany, we could show you some trails and bikeparks. Keep up the good work!
stoked to see your video about austria as an austrian
Awesome video with beautiful views! They had to know the STS would be fastest downhill and kill the risky climb! 👍
Love your vlog event with out bikes
amazing adventure
Mountains are awesome
Beautiful man 👍
Sick, sick vid, youre more than singletrack..
Great video.
Epic adventure for sure, now only if you can find a trail to shred..
freaking awesome trip, just forwarded the video to my wife and told her, we gotta go :)
You should consider coming to kaslo British Columbia, nice little town nestled in the mountains with hundreds of bike trails and good food
ALps are way world class than BC american cheap way
I better see some live free die hard get ripped merch soon
Great vid.... Though let's face it, is a great subject matter, and Alex could make a vid on boiling brocolli fun, interesting and life affirming!
Awesome to see you in Europe. Spend a lot of time in the Alps and the Rockies absolutely share your love of the mountains. But Alex... you're in the Alps! Where's your bike?
These friends don't ride, but trust me, I'll be back with it!
@The_Sampler Not on the same scale as the Alps, but give me a shout if you get to the UK, we've some epic riding.
Sick view Alex! Did you leave a sticker up there for posterity?
I was there myself. I did not do the last climb to the top because I considered the risks not being worth that. Going up there with slippery boots is actually even more risky. A lot of people die each year in the alps. A lot of them are wearing the wrong shoes, and taking to much risks. Some are very experienced and therefore not concentrated and some have bad luck as been hitten by avalanches or falling rocks. I really cannot recommend to copy doing this. As you wear a helmet and protection whilst mountainbiking, please recommend to wear the right shoes when climbing.
Loving your Germany trip videos so looking forward to you next video
Question, what month did you travel there? Thanks 😊
Thanks dude! 🙌 This was in October!
best months for visiting germany are from late may - september. october can be cold and rainy if u are unlucky. if u want the christmas market experience of course do it in december. but be aware of temperatures between -10 C (14F) and 10 - 12C (55F).
Great views... German mountains are pretty low by Alps standards though... Austria and France etc. have many higher peaks... Even ski pistes at 3600m!
1:30 Americans renting a car in Europe and immediately driving on pedestrian street is the most American thing, LOL
Live free... die hard... get... ripped! Awesome! 😅
the parts of the video where they drink beer just hurt
Parts of the Autobhan are derestricted... You can go any speed u want... 250mph if your car and traffic conditions allow. But for most European saloons the car is restricted to 155mph, or 160. Most family cars and average traffic flow would cruise at 80-120mph where derestricted. Restricted parts limit is often 80mph or less.
Live free, die hard, get ripped!!!! lol!!!
your were in Germany and didn’t say anything 😂. Youd need to visit some Bikeparks and of course nature trails.
Cheers Alex🤙🏼🤙🏼
I love the mountains, but I'm stuck living through CZcams sadly as my country's highest point is 322m above mean sea level 😂😂
Strangest thing is that I'm also scared of heights.. well when my brain tells me there is a danger of falling, I can walk over those glass bridges all day long without issues.
Change it with a small rope bridge with a risk of slipping through and my brain will never allow it ;)
Cool Video. I suggest you to visit Himalayas from Indian side
KOOOOL...
Sure, you where there not for that. But there are some great mtb trails in the Garmisch area you would have loved.
i also went to garmisch lol
As a German myself let me tell you that Bavaria isn't Germany - like Florida isn't the USA. You miss SO MUCH if you just circle the south-east.
The Rerstaurant is called "Zum Wildschütz" and that translates "At The Poacher's"
agreed. bavaria is its own thing.
Na freilich! Of course Bayern is not Germany. Like Friesland is not the Netherlands.
9:33 Now That's a beard!!!
Come riding in the alps
Tegernsee beer is the best in Germany!
Live free! Die hard! and get ripped :D haha
@17:00 Did you get a chance on your journey to have the pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe)?
Live Free, Die Hard, Get RIPPED
@12:47 Look at all those microwave antennas. I used to climb towers on mountain tops and install those things. This was back in the late 90's to early 2000's so the industry was small and we had a great group of guys. In fact we used to hit up the strip club every Monday night for our OSHA mandated safety meeting. Brings back some memories of good times and a lot of cash made.
I am visiting here in two weeks time. Can you recommend any place to stay?
Live Free, DIE Hard, Get Ripped?🤣😂😅
🤣
Where is the video for part 3? I've checked your channel and cannot find it. Thanks.
Hey Joel, I'm still working on part 3 but it's coming!
How much is the train ticket from town to mountain by train ?
Why didn't you tell me you are visiting Nürnberg? I'm from Nürnberg 😊
I don't see any mountain bike?
Let the man do what he wants
Hilarious. Americans on the Autobahn. Something that seems so mundane to an European can be an all out experience for the people who invented big and over the top! 😃👍
Hmmm. I do not really consider Garmisch the alps. Technically it is. But you are just in the foot hills.
Wait, you're telling me they get even BIGGER??? 😯
Sure. Zugspitze is not even 3k in hight 😅
The alps has some nice 3 to 4 k Mountains 😊
@@The_Sampler Mont Blanc is the biggest peak in the Alps. 4,807.81m, or 15.800ish feet.
I recommend Graubünden or Wallis Switzerland. Or if you are more into tourism Berner Oberland. Although I admit Zermatt and Saas Fee are also very touristic. My first love is Graubünden.
It is kind of funny to hear somebody who knows the Rockies asking me if the mountains in Garmisch are not already big. 😃👏👍
Pine this
checkmate flat eartheres
As a German. Please refrain from pronouncing German words. It was very painful to listen to.
Please tell me you're going to do at least 1hr of Mtbing 🫰🇦🇺
