You seem to truly care for Max, hopefully enough to become his parent. Be sure to have him neutered so he will calm down as he grows or do you want to raise a pride of monkeys. He is very well adjusted to you and the love and care you provide. It is good you give him as much as you can of his true tree climbing and jumping limb to limb. Hi max . I can see you still feel insecure outdoors for you fear to be abandoned by dad .you will get better with passage of time. Max is exposed to and brought up in city environment. This will take time to adapt.

The little macaque is in great fear of eagles, which are resident and fairly common in the mountains around Dalat. They soar over forests in the hilly regions of tropical and subtropical Southeast Asia and hunt mammals and birds, particularly at their nests. In Dalat we find the Black Eagle, Crested Serpent-Eagle, Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, and Rufous-bellied Eagle. Max remembers losing his 1st cousin, an infant female, to a Black Eagle which stole her from her favorite perch in a tree. (This happened before a farmer shot Max's mother and captured Max, selling him to a street vendor who in turn sold him to Hoang.) That is why Max scans the sky and the horizon when visiting the park with Uncle Phu. Poor Max is also on the lookout for wild dogs, which are known to attack macaques whenever they gather in large numbers in grassy fields looking for insects to eat. Max still remembers when his grandfather was taken by two wild dogs. Uncle Phu, I recommend that the first thing you do at the park is to bring Max to a tree. He'll feel safer. When he's hungry, coax him out of the tree with tasty food. He'll always be on the lookout for predators, but he'll become less cautious over time, which can be both good and bad.
