a DIY midi drum pad

- The SynPad is a position sensitive midi drum pad that you can build yourself using simple materials and tools for around 50 UK pounds (depending on what materials you already have, and how many pads you want to make.) The pad can detect where you have hit it as well as how hard, so that the synth it is driving can change the sound continuously as you strike the pad in different places.
See highfellow.org/...
leave this dude alone , be nice if more people like him made videos of building such devices, there are people out there who are interested m8 , thanx for the video
I noticed the fly on table, very cool ;)
Never mind, I checked the link. Really cool project, the drum looks sensitive from the demo
This is very cool. I'll look up your website and check it out. Might find a way to use next time I have a show
Nice one. Heard about Arduino on Guardian Tech Podcast a while back. Interesting to see an example of how it can be used.
geniuses often look disheveled, but it's only because they have better things to worry about than their hair or clothes.
@gang1ion good job mate, im a drummer, this pad will be a special pad for snare, feed it to midi in of the brain u'll get the most realistic electronic snare ever...im suscribing you
Good vid, useful close-ups, clear demo, Sounds like rain on a steel drum.
I did notice one bug in the machine though....;-)
Totally added to the geeky ambiance. Very post-Neo too, that bit with the scrolling code. Great to come back off holiday and see this.
cool invention! I think South Asians would love this because they could get all their drums sounds on one pad, with all variations inbetween.
instead of describing the function of the parameters, it would be veeeery useful to describe how the code interprets the input from the 4 piezo sensors i guess,
but the concept is very nice thanks for inspiring
really pleased I found this video. Thanks for sharing. Your project has loads of potential.
Cool stuff! I will check the instructables and give it a shot when I get some free time. I guess the fly at 2:17 wanted to make some beats too.
Hippy nerd geniuses look creepy, but I have many friends who look like this in the states, they don't give a fuck about how they look, they care about the fucking results. You may be creepy looking but you are a genius and I admire that.
+artblack01 what the fuck is this comment? Why insult him at all? Just say "I like this video" or dont say anything. Imagine him reading this.
+RossHildick3D Besides, creepy isn't a bad thing.... necessarily.
+artblack01 well based on your stupid original post, your twisted logic and further insult in your replies to me, it's quite clear I'm teaching algebra a chimp. I think we can end this here. You're not worth my time
Ha ha, you really think highly of yourself, that's great, delusions of grandeur are hilarious.
+artblack01 I don't I just think poorly of you
@balot912 speaking about talking weird, you should use spell-check and use a proper punctuation. that really helps to make a point
Nice work!
Quite AWESOME!!! Never knew you were into electronics. I'll have to catch up on our next GeekUp m8!!
from 2:16 to 2:48 there is a fly on your pad. and just barely you can see one flying in the top left hand corner of the camera at 2:40. sorry i notice these things
This is amazing I wish I had the skills to build one!
@gang1ion I see, I'm not that good with tweaking soft synths so I usually end up using the presets and patches, but I'll see what I can do. Thanks for everything mate, keep up with the awesome videos! You sure seem to know your stuff!
cool man....like it a lot...
Good stuff!
Dude this is amazing
Awesome!
@gang1ion I'm confident on the carpentry and metal work part...but couldn't you just use soft synths to play it? I use linux and there's lots of synths. If it's just sending MIDI CC messages it should work. But of course I don't know anything about programming, specially the part you said that you could assign two instruments to the same pad, that's awesome.
kakva scenografija čoveče
a lot of chicken in the left ear
but it works
if you was a painter
like finger paint you could paint
music
fucking incredible....thank you,,,,the potential is infinite...thank you for existing.....stay true to yourself yo'.and thanks for sharing this..i learned a lot from this and wanna see more of your work man.
truly,
calkutta
nice work bra
A touch pad that big would sell like hotcakes. Well I would buy one at least.
that is really cool dude!
WOW very nice man :O :D
Awesome! What were you using do generate sound from the midi input?
Inspiring..
@gang1ion will you make more videos of this or any other DJ equipment?
@gang1ion no doubt about it, youre brilliant. ima just go buy a kaossilator, cos im lazy...
Hi, I kinda need some help with this. There are echoes on the board which also get picked up by the piezo. For example, sometimes I hit the top right corner, and the "bump" is detected on the lower left corner. How do you deal with that?
Cool, dude!
Thx4this
@gang1ion any further development or progress?
@gang1ion fair enuf :)
2:15 it works on attracting flies!!! LOL
@dasbeats lol leave the poor guy alone. 12 hours and 40 redbulls of working on this and I'd look haggard too.
@gang1ion cool ;D
interesting project, too bad the links don't work
Oi! Where's Bob?
I found the piezos on ebay for $2.49 each.
this dude lives in my town
I think I'll sell my midi drum set ....and build one
that guy scares me
Fly at 2:17
bug pet?
@ 2:25
Bloody hell this guy needs to clean up a little bit!
its cool, but your insecurity annoys me...
@gang1ion rofl that would have been funny xD
its cool, but your insecurity annoys me....
